A word from Joey's Italian Cafe
Joey’s is an affordable contemporary Italian café in the center of the Wynwood Arts District serving healthy, authentic Italian country cuisine. Opened in 2008, Joey’s created an immediate buzz, including a prestigious citing as one of the top new U.S. pizza restaurants in Food & Wine magazine.

The main dining room, with its concrete floor, glass mosaic mural and marble tables makes Joey's comfortable enough for a relaxed supper and elegant enough for pre or post dining for show patrons at the nearby Performing Arts Center. Joey's serves Wynwood's burgeoning arts community with a fine-tuned menu of healthy, classic dishes from Venice and other culturally rich Italian regions. The affordable, chic restaurant is owned by Joey Goldman, a partner in Goldman Properties, which rejuvenates urban areas and transforms them into thriving global destinations.

Consistently quality food & wine every time we eat here. Service is attentive, not pushy and alwys pleasant. The pasta, fish, meat and pizza are prepared perfectly time after time. The specials are based on fresh availability and change nightly...if you want a good experience and intimate restaurant just go to Joey's.

The unique departure in the recipes for traditional dishes along with prompt service make Joeys a popular spot, and one we will return to enjoy. The high quality and freshness of the offerings make it a consistently delightful stop for casual dining. The only negative, and this is likely a personal point issue, is the traffic noise in the corner garden dining area. But, at times that may not be a valid issue. Joeys is a worthwhile stop.

We've been to Joey's before and know how consistently good they are, but on this very busy Valentine's night, we were not expecting great dishes from the kitchen or the most attentive service. Wrong on both counts and pleasantly surprised. The fixed menu choices were the best this night. The lamb chops in a blueberry and wine sauce were to die for. That was a special and don't know if they make regularly, but they should be part of their regular menu. Our server, Esther, was nothing short of fantastic!

My date and I were served relatively quickly and we both found our respective plates to be both pleasing to the eye and palate. Once we were served, however, getting the attention of the waitstaff proved to be a bit of a challenge. The staffing appeared to be inadequate for the amount of traffic in the place. Our waitress seemingly all over the place taking orders both inside and outside and the busboys seemed unsure of what their resposibilities were. I wish that the staffing and service at Joeys was as good as the food from their kitchen!

Once again we enjoyed a wonderful evening at Joey's. Food is always fabulous as is the service. This was the only time we had a small problem. We were a table of 8 and were seated all the way in the back outside.....next to the waitstation. The noise on this Saturday night - non-stop clatter of dishes tossed into bins -- made conversation difficult. I don't know that there's a solution for this other than to request not being seated at that table. Aside from that, we love Joey's and go there as often as we can....any time we're in the neighborhood.

Went with a group of 5 friends and we all came out with the same conclusion - bad!!! Would not recommend this restaurant at all. The food was bland, tasteless and seemed as if it was purchased frozen at the local supermarket and microwaved. Had the supposedly "fresh" fish sent back as it was not at all fresh. A complete rip off. Needless to say, we will not be back again and have already spread the word to avoid this restaurant.

Having checked in and been sitting for 10 minutes, I received a call reminding me that I have a reservation and was asked if I was still planning to come in. Well considering that I checked in and was already sitting, safe to safe yea I was coming. Bad sign and should have known right then how this would play out. As I can see that the locals would love a place that throws the food at you when it's ready, luke warm I may add, the food and presentation would have been what Master Chef Gordon Ramsey would call rubbish. My salmon- tasteless and overlooked. Better off with a Big Mac. with taste, presentation and bad service, this is a local gem. If you want the before mentioned, go to bal harbour, Carpaccio for top quality food and service.

We enjoyed our meals and the ambience and we recommend you try it for genuine Italian cuisine and excellent pizza! It's best to make reservations because Joey's has been discovered by many. Before or after your meal, you can stroll the nearby art galleries.

New item on the menu, medallions of bison, were not up to Joey's usual level of dependably well prepared experience. It may have been refrozen, was overcooked and tougher than it should be. As the highest price item on the menu, it was out of character for a restaurant I frequently enjoy.

We had a good dinner here. There is a nice outdoor dining area where we sat. The salmon, chicken and cod entrees were all enjoyed. The pasta dish was ok but too heavy on the sauce. Overall a good experience. There were quite a few patrons considering we were there early by Miami standards. 6:30. We have always gone here for lunch, this was our first dinner experience. We would return. It is also very reasonably priced, a plus.

I did not enjoy Joey's. My dissatisfaction is compounded by the fact that I have been working in the restaurant industry several years. I reserved a table at Joey's for New Year 2014. We arrived and were seated immediately. That is when the good service of this restaurant ceased. Our waitress took over 15 minutes to greet us even though the restaurant was not busy. She did not say much other than what can I get you? I asked for her food recommendations, she pointed at a few things, offered no descriptions. Based on her suggestion I got a over-breaded $34 snapper fish stick. The bad service and food cost $180. Gratuity was included, 20% for terrible service. I will never return. I told the manger about all of this, he ignored me.

We took our young "foodie" kids for New Year's eve dinner, expecting a fun, simple evening. We ran into friends and the staff was very accommodating when we asked them to join our parties- even though they were filling up quickly. The special menu had lots to choose from and the waiter offerred us a few items not on the menu. Everyone enjoyed the food and ambience!

Joeys is a very popular restaurant in Wynwood where tables book up quickly so I thought to give it a try. We went with a group of 5 on a Saturday night (non- artwalk weekend). The restaurant is cosy due to its size and low ceiling but no architectural highlight. Our waiter was very friendly and "on". The food arrived promptly however was "auctioned off" by the busser when it arrived. there does not seem to be a system in place where the busser knows who ordered what. My salad was uninspired , no dressing. In general, the menue is nothing special. It was obvious that they tried to flip our table as the check was presented after desserts and coffee were ordered. Table was cleared unprofessionally as well. I will not be back.

It was my brother Erik's 40th birthday, and I wanted to impress him with good food. He was impressed!. He had the most delicious seared lamb chops while I had the Kobe short ribs. It was Erik's first time at the restaurant and before we left, he was already making future plans about bringing his friends to dine. And thank you to the wonderful staff. Talk about service, they were happy and knowledgeable. The great thing about Joey's is that they're consistently creative with their dishes and have impeccable service. It's why I always take my friends to experience what I brag about all the time.

I dined at this restaurant on a second Saturday for the Wynwood Art Walk. As expected, the restaurant was bustling with people. The food was ok (pricey for what it was). Service mediocre at best as all wait staff was in the weeds all night. Hostess was pretty rude. For Art Walk, however, it is one of two restaurants in the district.

Having been to Joey's on an art walk Saturday before, I made reservations for 7:30 earlier in the week. Although I requested a table inside (it is summer in Florida), once we arrived we were told only patio tables were available. However, they did seat us at a table right in front of a fan, so it was not that bad. The food was fantastic as usual. We had the baked mushroom appetizer and the salad with figs and walnuts. Both were amazing. As entrees, we both had pizzas, which are tasty but the dough in the middle is always a bit soft, making it hard to eat with your hands. We also ordered a bottle of Chianti, after two (!) attempts to order other bottles, only to be told they were out of those specific ones. What are the chances!?!

We went to Joey's to celebrate a birthday this past Sunday afternoon and truly enjoyed the experience. The staff was attentive, the food delivered timely and delicious. They made a note of surprising us with a birthday piece of cake and ice-cream with candle for the birthday person at the end of our lunch. As we were leaving we also noticed that a jazz musician was setting up to play for the afternoon - lovely addition and will stay for this next time. Great location to enjoy the Wynwood Walls area before or after a meal. Highly recommend

We were quite disappointed with our experience. It was an art walk night but rainy so not as busy as it normally would be. Staff acted frenetic. Trying to get you through your meal as quickly as possible. Appetizers came out at different times, then not a couple minutes after our entrees arrived. No apology for the poor timing. We didnt even have room for plates on table and staff wanted to pick up appetizers though they were not even half finished.Trout was dry; polenta was ok. Dessert, Gelato w nuts, was really poor. tasted like a prepackaged ice cream youd get from an ice cream truck. no one ever asked how we enjoyed our food. For the price, joeys really needs to improve.Would not go back or recommend.

Casual & comfortable atmosphere like a neighborhood Italian restaurant, but the food was definitely not your average neighborhood Italian restaurant fare.
