Although Joey Gerard’s may not include all of the interior elements typically found in a classic supper club, guests will enjoy many nostalgic features with a modern spin. The interior of Joey Gerard’s includes a warm and comfortable atmosphere with high vaulted ceilings, textured wallpaper, plantation window blinds, patterned drapes, tropical green leaf carpet, large period light fixtures and lamps, plush black leather booths and black and white photos of people enjoying themselves in restaurants and bars from late 50s and early 60s.
The vibe at Joey Gerard’s embraces a casual, family-dining experience. Combining classic supper club menu options, value-oriented specials, classic cocktails and ice cream drinks make Joey Gerard’s the perfect community gathering place.

Joey's is an absolute gem in the old school service kind of way. An homage to the Wisconsin supper club, it combines that feel with an urban steak house motif. Food, atmosphere, drinks and service, especially service, was A+++. Among the three in our party all had absolute raves for the place. We each had a different entree, and all were superb. Joey's is part of a local restaurant group; we will definitely be trying some of the others.

We went to Joey Gerard's because my husband was given a gift certificate for 10 years of service with his company. We went with another couple and were seated as soon as we arrived. I loved the chandeliers and the feel of the place. I believe our server was new, as she seemed unsure of herself and a bit akward, but she ended up doing really well. The relish tray and bread came right away. They do make it feel very "homey". 3 of the 4 of us ordered different steaks, my husband loved his Porterhouse, but felt it was a little under cooked (didn't say anything though???). My friend ordered the Q prime rib and thought that was delicious. The other guy ordered the Rib eye and had a hard time chewing all the pieces. Had a tendon that ran through it that made it tough to eat. Flavor was good though. Said his mushrooms had no flavor, just bland. I had the salmon, it was cooked well, but the olives on top made it pretty salty. Loved the zucchini and the buttered red potatoes. The wine list had a good selection. The Merlot was great. We did not order dessert and they were so effecient that the entire meal only took just over an hour. Pretty fast for a supper club in my opinion. Overall, I would give it a good review.

I have visited Joey's on multiple occasions and was always very pleased and very eager to recommend Joey's to family and friends. This visit I have to say I was unfortunately disappointed. My partner ordered the New York Strip well done (much to my dismay) and the steak was clearly not cooked well done as ordered. The meal was ordered with the seasonal vegetables that were an embarassing collection of what I believe was chopped Swiss Chard. I ordered the ribs which were very tasty indeed. However I was extremely disappointed to see that the fries that came with the ribs appeared to be your average crinkle cut fries you would expect to buy at the frozen food section. Please bring back the old Joey's I remember and loved so dearly.

I walked in and the restaurant smelled of bad fish (always a bad sign). My husband and I ordered the ribeye. His was cooked correctly; mine was over cooked. Never should happen in a steakhouse ( or anywhere they sell steaks). Waitstaff did not get my order right after I changed it. All in all .... very expensive and nothing to write home about.

Have been to this restaurant several times but this was the most inconsistent visit to date food wise. Service was professional and efficient though I felt the meal experience was rushed a bit. Everyone at the table had a steak dish. The steaks were uniformly good though mine was a bit tough. Unfortunately the sides (sauces, vegetable sides in particular) were average at best and some were served barely warm. I am chalking it up to an off night for the kitchen as previous visits have all been very good to stellar.

We were there with out of town people to celebrate anniversary and birthdays. Most of the food was excellent. However, two people ordered half slabs of ribs which were dry and tasteless. Could not get meat off the bone even with a knife. When we were out of the restaurant the two mentioned the situation. They had not wanted to create a problem with guests, etc. The next day I called and spoke to James. He was very polite, sorry, and offered to remedy the situation the next time we come to the restaurant. I believe this was not the usual Bartolatta quality. We will be returning. This was a difficult situation.

Our table for 2 turned in to three and even with a busy dining room, we were accommodated quickly between soup and steaks. Excellent friendly staff, consistently great quality with the food and only slight menu changes that are enjoyable. Bone in filler and bone in riveted are delicious as well as the Friday fish fry and Sunday brisket. Don't skip the cheese curds or popovers.

This was our first time at Joey Gerard's. It was a wedding gift from a friend. My wife wanted to have lobster since she rarely gets to indulge in seafood. Our reservarions were for 6:15 on a Saturday and the waitress told us that they were already sold out of lobster. I was quite disappointed and found it hard to believe that at the beginning of the evening they were sold out. I felt very bad for my wife who had to settle for the scallops. I had the bone in tenderloin with salmon. I will say that the food we did have was outstanding but our entire point of going was so that my wife could have lobster. Our $160 bill with tip included two drinks each, scallops for her and the combo for me, bananas foster and a brandy alexander.

Steaks are very good, anything else not so much. Second visit and last. Both visits 1 hour between salad and entre. About the time we should have had dinner our server arrived informing us that 2 of the 4 entrees we ordered AN HOUR AGO were no longer available.????? Forty five minutes after that I received a $30 cold and rubbery lobster. Which I sent back and it returned 5 minutes later having taken a turn in a microwave, could not cut it with a steak knife and the accompanying crab hash now had an odor similar to a shoreline fish die off. We have eaten often at a sister restaurant Lake Park Bistro which is excellent. This is not a Bartolata experience. t.

Steak arrived warm, veggies cool. Took longer to reheat than to present to begin with. Didn't offer a complimentary dessert or even to take the steak off the bill, they just reheated plate. This took 1/2 hour to do. I have never had this experience here before and attribute it to the fact that they had a wine dinner at the same time I dined. I certainly won't return when they have an event planned as a matter of fact I'm hesitant to return at all. Manager did contact me from the restaurant and is offering me a return on him. I'm thinking about that.

We have eaten at Joey Gerard's in Mequon on three other occasions and enjoyed terrific dining experiences. On Saturday evening, October 4, 2014, we were disappointed in the two Top Sirloin steaks we ordered. Both were flavorful, but very gristly and difficult to cut and chew. The breaded cauliflower was too salty. Prices have taken a good upward hike since our last visit and the menu offerings have been reduced. The friendly, knowledgeable service remains top notch, but it will be a long while before we think about returning to what used to be one of our go-to places for a great, reasonably-priced dinner for special occasions.

Our waitress Cindy was outstanding! Requested medium for ribeye. It was delivered quite rare. Cindy our waitress agreed. When it arrived from the kitchen a second time, it was okay, but not the best. I had the stuffed lobster. The price was good. I didn't realize that I would need to crack the claws. It was quite messy. Had I have known this ahead of time, I wod have ordered something else. The lobster was also delivered more on the warm-cold side. Although tasty. As requested through the reservation, a complimentary dessert was delivered for my husband's Birthday. The corn soup, mushrooms. And potatoes were so delicious. The relish tray and bread basket was something we really enjoyed.

We went for our anniversary dinner on a Tuesday evening. We were seated in more of the bar area which was ok. After delivering the drinks we ordered, the waiter proceeded to give us each a glass of champagne for our anniversary. That was a nice gesture until I found I was charged for it on my bill! Food was OK... For the price of my bone in fillet, I would have expected it to be excellent. I ordered mine medium after discussing that I wanted hot and pink. It came rare to medium rare. Steak and potato were just warm. I was shocked at this since there were very few people in the restaurant. Not much flavor to the steak. I've been to Mr. B's and I would prefer going there for steaks. The waiter was very good on the positive side.

  • Not the best Barolotta restaurant
    OpenTable Diner Since 2014
    Dined on 9/27/2014
This had a great supper club look to it which we loved. It's right on the river but you can't see that from inside the restaurant. Very easy to get a reservation same day, easy online booking. We've been to quite a few Bartolotta restaurants and this was by far the worst. My steak was over cooked to the point of making my jaw hurt when I chewed and my husband's prime rib was raw (ordered medium). The bar tenders seemed to be at odds with one another which made our "relaxing drink" uncomfortable. The food was way over priced for what we received, unfortunately we will not be returning even though this is so close to home.
