Invited by the manager to retry dining after a less than stellar experience. We had a delightful dinner and wonderful service. There was no large parties going on so our experience was enjoyable.

Ultimate comfort food in a cozy, old school atmosphere. We always take customers here as the service and food are consistent and great. Very Wisconsin supper club in a good way. Steaks were perfect, sides were excellent. Get the popovers and skip the bread basket.

Our table for 2 turned in to three and even with a busy dining room, we were accommodated quickly between soup and steaks. Excellent friendly staff, consistently great quality with the food and only slight menu changes that are enjoyable. Bone in filler and bone in riveted are delicious as well as the Friday fish fry and Sunday brisket. Don't skip the cheese curds or popovers.

This was our first time at Joey Gerard's. It was a wedding gift from a friend. My wife wanted to have lobster since she rarely gets to indulge in seafood. Our reservarions were for 6:15 on a Saturday and the waitress told us that they were already sold out of lobster. I was quite disappointed and found it hard to believe that at the beginning of the evening they were sold out. I felt very bad for my wife who had to settle for the scallops. I had the bone in tenderloin with salmon. I will say that the food we did have was outstanding but our entire point of going was so that my wife could have lobster. Our $160 bill with tip included two drinks each, scallops for her and the combo for me, bananas foster and a brandy alexander.

Steaks are very good, anything else not so much. Second visit and last. Both visits 1 hour between salad and entre. About the time we should have had dinner our server arrived informing us that 2 of the 4 entrees we ordered AN HOUR AGO were no longer available.????? Forty five minutes after that I received a $30 cold and rubbery lobster. Which I sent back and it returned 5 minutes later having taken a turn in a microwave, could not cut it with a steak knife and the accompanying crab hash now had an odor similar to a shoreline fish die off. We have eaten often at a sister restaurant Lake Park Bistro which is excellent. This is not a Bartolata experience. t.

We always enjoy Joey Gerard's as they are very accommodating to my wife's food allergies and their entrees are tasty. We enjoyed our anniversary meal there once again. They are a bit pricey, however, for the level of service and ambiance.

Steak arrived warm, veggies cool. Took longer to reheat than to present to begin with. Didn't offer a complimentary dessert or even to take the steak off the bill, they just reheated plate. This took 1/2 hour to do. I have never had this experience here before and attribute it to the fact that they had a wine dinner at the same time I dined. I certainly won't return when they have an event planned as a matter of fact I'm hesitant to return at all. Manager did contact me from the restaurant and is offering me a return on him. I'm thinking about that.

We have eaten at Joey Gerard's in Mequon on three other occasions and enjoyed terrific dining experiences. On Saturday evening, October 4, 2014, we were disappointed in the two Top Sirloin steaks we ordered. Both were flavorful, but very gristly and difficult to cut and chew. The breaded cauliflower was too salty. Prices have taken a good upward hike since our last visit and the menu offerings have been reduced. The friendly, knowledgeable service remains top notch, but it will be a long while before we think about returning to what used to be one of our go-to places for a great, reasonably-priced dinner for special occasions.

Our waitress Cindy was outstanding! Requested medium for ribeye. It was delivered quite rare. Cindy our waitress agreed. When it arrived from the kitchen a second time, it was okay, but not the best. I had the stuffed lobster. The price was good. I didn't realize that I would need to crack the claws. It was quite messy. Had I have known this ahead of time, I wod have ordered something else. The lobster was also delivered more on the warm-cold side. Although tasty. As requested through the reservation, a complimentary dessert was delivered for my husband's Birthday. The corn soup, mushrooms. And potatoes were so delicious. The relish tray and bread basket was something we really enjoyed.

  • Disappointing Anniversary Dinner

We went for our anniversary dinner on a Tuesday evening. We were seated in more of the bar area which was ok. After delivering the drinks we ordered, the waiter proceeded to give us each a glass of champagne for our anniversary. That was a nice gesture until I found I was charged for it on my bill! Food was OK... For the price of my bone in fillet, I would have expected it to be excellent. I ordered mine medium after discussing that I wanted hot and pink. It came rare to medium rare. Steak and potato were just warm. I was shocked at this since there were very few people in the restaurant. Not much flavor to the steak. I've been to Mr. B's and I would prefer going there for steaks. The waiter was very good on the positive side.

  • Not the best Barolotta restaurant
    OpenTable Diner Since 2014
    Dined on 9/27/2014
This had a great supper club look to it which we loved. It's right on the river but you can't see that from inside the restaurant. Very easy to get a reservation same day, easy online booking. We've been to quite a few Bartolotta restaurants and this was by far the worst. My steak was over cooked to the point of making my jaw hurt when I chewed and my husband's prime rib was raw (ordered medium). The bar tenders seemed to be at odds with one another which made our "relaxing drink" uncomfortable. The food was way over priced for what we received, unfortunately we will not be returning even though this is so close to home.

The service was very good, drinks fast and well made, steak diane was very tasty, and steak was very good - but escargots were not good at all. Last time the escargots were served with puff pastry circles and were baked with garlic. This time they were barely warm and were breaded and were not at all up to our standards. This appetizer needs revision and we will be keeping an eye on the menu. The prices were high and so there is room for improvement.

Good coffee, average lemonade. Large entrée house and Caesar salads topped with salmon were very small and not worth the money. The salmon is supposed to be wild, then penned, but tastes like farm raised. The 50's style relish trays and breads continue to shrink from previous visits. The poorest Bartolotta experience we have ever had.

This was our first visit and Joey Garard's lived up to its billing. The waitress we had was superb. Friendly, knowledgeable. A waitress with a sense of humor! Her poinion on entree's was right on. One little slip. Their radio ads they talk about the "relish tray with black olives..." Well, the relish tray was a little lacking. One green onion, two pieces of celery and three pieces of carrot and two tiny black olives. Perhaps "knit-picky" but.. For dinner the Scallops superb, filet done perfectly. Patty-pan squash was a nice compliment. All items ala-carte so it can get a little pricey, but warm atmosphere and outstanding service, really great tasting food with ample portions make this one place we'll return too.

Something just wasn't clicking. We dine here often and have discovered the quality of the meal is tied to the quality of the server. Our sever was pleasant, but not in tune with the kitchen. We arrived for our 7:30 reservation and were seated at 7:45. Even the bussers had a tough time turning tables as we watched the slow turnover from the entrance with other groups. They've got to come up with a better system for people waiting for reservations as everyone is piled up at the entrance. Filet ordered medium well without being butterflied was overlooked and flash charred. This has been ordered at least 20 other times and cooked to perfection. The lamb chops were good. Menu has changed recently with most prices increasing $2-3.

This was our second time here. I must say out first time was waaaayy better! It was my 50th birthday and we were seated at a small table for 2 in the back room. Our first time at the restaurant we were in a huge booth in front, and our waitress,Jessie, was fabulous! This time we were looking into the back room, where the wait staff tallied up the orders.....not very appealing. This restaurant is a treat for us. With an appetizer, 3 drinks, and 2 meals our bill was $118. The food was very good! The steak Diane was delicious, and the bone in rib eye was huge! They gave us a dessert for my bday.

I ordered the crab stuffed lobster. The disappointing half lobster was a skimpy claw; no tail and the slimy insides of the center. A dry pile of shredded, bland crab was plopped on top of it. The lobster didn't appear to be fresh. My dining mate ordered the bone-in filet and raved about it. Perhaps the restaurant should stick to the turf and forego the surf.

We have dined several times at Joey Gerard's in Mequon and find the food (entree) far below Bartolotta's standards for their other restaurants. On three occasions we have sent the cod back either because it was lousy piece of fish or it was too raw (translucent). The Steak Diane was tough and tasteless. The services was always good and they offered to comp the meal or redo it. I have never been to another Bartolotta's restaurant where all of the food was not excellent the first time.
