Diner Reviews
  • "My wife and I celebrated our 41st wedding anniversary with a dinner at Joey Gerard's. We started with a drink in the bar, enjoying the Happy Hour special Brandy Alexander and a vodka gimlet. Scott mixed wonderful drinks and served us with friendly courtesy. After our drinks, we asked to be seated on the patio and we enjoyed the quiet and scenic view. Our server, Carissa, was friendly and attentive and allowed us to take our time selecting our meals and ordering. The rolls were warm and delicious and the relish tray was fresh and crispy. We ordered the French Onion and Spiced Carrot soups and both were excellent. Our entrees, Rainbow Trout Almondine and Braised Short Ribs were done to perfection. Both were flavorful and presented well. WOW!!"

  • "The steak was awesome but the service was horrid. We waited an extremely long time for the meal itself. Our food was brought out to us in visible view and sat for a few minutes before it was served to us because waitress was not present. After our plates were taken from the table it was another 15 minutes before we were asked if we wanted dessert. Not the waitresses fault, more staff needs to be hired if you want a satisfied customer and offer a pleasant dining experience."

  • "When I made my reservation on Open Table, I asked for a patio table. Being an open table VIP, there is no excuse for not saving a patio table for me. Freezing inside the restaurant. Kat was our server. She was basically good except that she would linger at the tables around us chatting which delayed her service throughout our meal. We waited quite a long time for her to come and take our order. I asked for my filet to be cooked medium, it was medium well. When I told this to Kat, she did ask me if I wanted them to make me another but I didn't want the other person at my table to have to wait. Hostesses also were not very friendly."

  • "I knew the food would be good being owned by Bartolotta's, so I did not expect to be disappointed. It was as I expected, delicious simple food made well. I had chicken marsala which was delicious. I loved it. My husband had the fish fry which was also delicious. The wine was good, we were too full for desert though. I will be back, very very nice."

  • "This was the 3rd visit for my wife and I, good food Trout Almondine is excellent. Also had a Sunday breakfast recently it was very good. Also the rewards program is a great incentive to return."

  • "Good old supper club atmosphere, happy hour bargain drink choices, (I recommend the Wisconsin Old Fashioned!) excellent Friday Cod Fish Fry Special, killer Joey Gerard's Ice Cream Sundae foe desert. Attentive service added up to a fine dining experience."

  • "We made a 5:15 reservation on a Friday night but I'm not quite sure why as we ended up waiting 15 minutes to get seated when we arrived at 5:15. When looking at the menu we could not believe the prices. We thought it was a little bit ridiculous to charge 8.95 for a small house salad to order with your steak dinner which was already extremely pricey! Our bill for two people ended up t be over 100 dollars with no frills at all. On top of the over the top price, the sirloin I ordered for 24 dollars was tough and chewy; so tough I couldn't even finish it. Would never return here or would never recommend to friends!"

  • "As always, an excellent meal. Like the addition of soup or salad and dessert for a complete meal on the daily specials."

  • "I ordered the T-Bone, expecting a super steak, especially for the price. Received an overcooked steak that was only so-so for flavor and taste. The baked potato was good, but not hot. There were 4 people in our group, everyone had ordered something different. All the meals were good, but not special. The presentation on the platters were ordinary."

  • "Food was good but unfortunately will probably never return. Arrived on time for dinner reservation- still had to wait- for what not sure because when we were seated we were the only ones in the dining room- poor management. Place was extremely cold- asked to have temp turned up a bit- waiter turned up one degree. Music was blaring- again we were only ones in the room. We were seated by a waiters station- so our table and the waiters were within a very small vicinity- again only ones in the room= food was very good but given the poor environment we will unfortunately probably never return."

  • "My wife and I dine out a lot. Taking our daughter out for a final nice dinner before she moves to North Carolina, we decided to go to a reputable Bartollota's resturant. Although the service was friendly and helpful, the food was very subpar. My daughter's salmon was dry, my wife's perch was balnd and also very dry. My son's potaoes were cold. The food left something to be desired. I expected a lot more coming to a Bartolotta's. I will probabaly not visit this establishment again."

  • "My elderly mother lives in Greendale. We've always enjoyed dining when I visit, and JG is far and away the best place anywhere close. We enjoy the supper club atmosphere (relishes, lazy Susan) the good selection of spirits and wines, and relaxed excellent service."

  • "Atmosphere was high end, for a supper club. Food was very good, from soup to dessert. Wait staff was very engaged and competent."

  • "Food was not very good and WAY over priced. Drinks were over priced also. Service was very slow. Steaks are marinated in something and gad a bad taste to them in my opinion. I would not recommend or return."

  • "My husband and I had our first dining experience at Joey Gerard's this past Saturday and we found it to be a very enjoyable one. The drinks were great and the food was absolutely fantastic. The staff were all pleasant and very helpful in selecting items off the menu both in the bar and at the dinner table. My prime rib was cooked exactly how I requested it and so was my husband's steak. We will definitely be back again."

  • "I have eaten at Joey Gerard's about every two or three months since it opened. The food was good but the menu needs some new items added just for variety, may be some seasonal dishes. In the beginning the service was very good however lately it leaves something to be desired. The last time we were in we had to ask for cocktail napkins for our wet glasses on a bare table. The bread and relish dish was very late in coming out. The night was not at all crowed at all so no excuse for poor service. Our meals were good and served hot. I think Joe Bartolotta needs step up his act at this name sake restaurant."

  • "Food is outstanding with excellent presentation; just the right amount. While the music is great it did seem too loud at times to carry on a dinner conversation which, in my opinion, is part of the joy of a supper club atmosphere. As stated, the overall meal was outstanding and we will continue to celebrate our special events at Joey Gerard's."

  • "Service was top -notch and food was very good. Music was initially too loud but staff turned it down appropriately. Once a large ( loud)group was seated nearby noise became an issue -perhaps they could have been seated in a separate room?"

  • "Service was exceptional, food fantastic. However, we were a group of five and we were there for 2.75 hours, which is ridiculous. The crowd only filled the one main dining area. I never got asked of I wanted another soda so I only had one the entire time I was there. I would have asked for one, but our waitress only came to the table about 3-4 times in the time we were there. Their Shaum Torte must be their signature dessert and it was, stick to your teeth, crazy sticky. Another person has the bananas foster and it was very simple and not like other places in which I have had the dessert. I wouldn't order either again. The filet w/brandy peppercorn sauce was phenomenal. Lamb chops: amazing, as well as the Chicken Marsala. Killer drink list!"

  • "Excellent way to prepare steaks, by searing the outside while the inside stays quite juicy, great taste results !!! Excellent homemade sauce & "Green Goddess" veggie dip. Can't remember the last time a meal came with a relish dish."

  • "My brother and I went for a Friday nite dinner. He had the steak and shrimp, I had the fish fry. We also had the escargot. Everything was perfectly prepared, and the service was great. We did have a reservation, and we were seated right away, no waiting. We loved it, and will definitely go again."

  • "Step back to the age of supper clubs and dine with Sinatra and Dino! Gorgeous restaurant with a delectable menu with great options. The food was unbelievably delish! Would definitely recommend the Beef Wellington! Haven't had such a pleasant and tasty experience like this since I was in New York. An amazing little gem that sits right in quiet Greendale. If you are celebrating a special occasion or are looking for a place for good food for the family I would highly recommend."

  • "Good food and atmosphere for a small local retaurant but a bit over priced for this more blue collar area of the city. The fillets we both had were slightly more done than we had ordered as Med (only a little pink) and Med Well (no pink in this one). They were very good none the less but I would have expected better from a restaurant of this caliber and price catagory. The raw beef was recommended and awesome and like no other. The shrimp and scallops were great as well."

  • "My husband's meal as well as mine were good. However, our guest's meal was the Wed. "Special" of Beef Stroganoff was unacceptable. It hardly had any meat in it. Manager offered to have more meat cooked up and added, but that was unacceptable to our guest as we would have been done with our meal by the time he would be getting his meal. Also, our guest's dessert was given without ice cream when it was suppose to have it. Again it was brought later to the table after our desserts were done. Our guest did not like his pie as he stated it was dry. Needless to say, having our guest's dinner and dessert, not up to par, was embarrassing for us. They did deduct for his meal and dessert, but the damage was done. We will rethink returning."

  • "We booked Joey Gerard's to celebrate my husband's birthday. Joey's provided excellent service and food. Sarah our server was the best. Water glasses were always filled, the table was cleared timely, and she seemed to do it all without notice. We started with raw beef and onions and some escargot. Both were finished quickly as everyone loved them and fought over the last bites. We all had some time of steak and each was done to perfection. Dessert was over the top. They brought out a strawberry torte out with candle for my husband which was divine. The rest of us split a huge piece of cheesecake and yummy bananas foster, both were yummy! This was one of our best dining experiences."

  • "Our waitress didn't listen to our order very good because not only did it come out wrong once, but 3 times! We waited forever for the check. What should have been an awesome experience (one my mom was really looking forward to) left us talking about how horrible it was. Bummer Bartolottas!"

  • "Had dinner for our anniversary - the restaurant is in a great location adds to downtown Greendale. When I made online reservations they asked reason for our visit - I indicated anniversary but on one mentioned it when we got there, not sure why they asked in the first place. We ate outside was very nice, but I was disappointed with the food. My husband had prime rib which he liked I had chicken masala which was dry and seemed precooked and warmed up, the sauce did not taste like masala wine at all. I would have sent it back but this was our anniversary dinner and I didn’t want to make waves. We have gone to other Bartolotta’s and the food was much better. A little disappointed."

  • "I had the scallops (4) which were perfectly prepared with a nice lemony butter sauce on the side. DH had the steak Diane. Perfectly done to his taste and tender. His only complaint we there wasn't enough of the sauce. He also had the onion soup which was very good. Atmosphere was pleasant and smart casual or nicer was the dress of the guests. We wished we had arrived earlier to sit outdoors for a bit before dinner. Didn't know there were outdoor tables. Pricing was lower than some of the Bartalotta restaurants, but not a budget spot. Our bill was approx $100 which included two drinks for each of us. Not bad actually for a very nice meal."

  • "I accidentally reserved at greendale on opentable...very easy mistake, so beware. Hostess was very nice about it...😃 Came especially for the duck, and was very disappointed to hear it was sold out even though it was early in the evening. That is a problem that needs to be addressed, as i was told that it happens very frequently. That said, the manager tried to make amends as much as she could. Our server was great, especially considering how grumpy I was. Trout was good, and table near the river also helped make up for a big disappointment."

  • "The service was outstanding. The two young ladies (one was perhaps in training) did a spectacular job. They were so attentive--didn't miss a beat. The staff was quick to refill water and soft drinks. The food was delicious. We were all very pleased!"

  • "Certainly not the same as the first visit. I've always been a huge fan of the Bartolotta Restaurants but I was a bit disappointed. We arrived early to our reservation and were seated promptly but after an hour or so my guest pointed out that "it wasn't very crowded for a Saturday night". Waitress was good when she was at the table but she seemed to disappear for long periods. My food was excellent my guests did not like their food, maybe it was the delays in service? We were at the table nearly 3 hours!"

  • "We received our drinks and soup very fast. However, the dinner took a little over 40 minutes after the soup. We only had the fish fry and chicken and the restaurant was not busy. I will try this restaurant again. Hopefully it won't take as long!"

  • "This was my second visit. The food was average. I always expect exceptiona foodl from Bartolottas but this isnt it. Great service though. Seems like the restaurant is trying too hard to be high end but just missing the mark."

  • "As you would expect from the Bartolotta group, Joey Gerard's is dining very well done. The format at "Joey's" provides an updated version of the traditional Wisconsin "Supper Club" with delicious food, excellent service and a relaxing yet semi-formal atmosphere."

  • "The four of us enjoyed another delicious meal and great service at Joey Gerard's in Greendale. We all love its supper club atmosphere. Our dinners (French Onion soup, house salad, Ceaser salad, salmon and steaks) were impeccable. After-dinner drinks and my brownie hot fudge sundae topped it all off. Service was very attentive but not disruptive. I'd highly recommend this place for a special occasion or just dining with good friends."
