  • Private Party Facilities: Joe's offers five stylishly decorated private spaces. Jesse’s Room, is the most intimate private space, with restored floor to ceiling vintage millwork and a marble fireplace. At the top of a floating staircase, the mezzanine level is devoted to private dining with dedicated kitchen and full bar. The Terrace, overlooking the main bar, is the ideal space for pre-function cocktail receptions. South Beach, the largest room, can accommodate 120 seated guests. Two signature boardrooms, named for Joe’s matriarchs, Grace and Jo Ann, are perfect for high-powered business meetings. The Gigi Room with its black lacquer millwork, leopard print carpeting and retro-style chandelier, includes ornamental glass doors that reveal or conceal the bar below. This exclusive space seats 30 guests. Extensive private dining menus offer guests their choice of entrée. With restaurant-style, prepared-to-order cuisine and professional, tuxedo-clad service, Joe’s is the perfect choice for your next special event.

  • "This was our first time visiting this restaurant. We are staying in DC for a week and have already made a second reservation for out last night in town as it was such a great experience. The crab stuffed shrimp were amazing. Their prices were extremely reasonable and range from the mid 20's to 50 dollars which is such a great deal in DC. The service was fantastic, very attentive without being intrusive. We will make this a regular stop on our treks to DC."

  • "We took my daughter and her friend there when we visited them at GWU over the Easter holiday. Everything was great. The steak, seafood, and the pies are to die for. The only thing I would skip next time is the crab claws. Expensive and not worth it. The service was very friendly and efficient. Martha was our waitress and she couldn't have been nicer or more knowledgeable. "Flan" at the door...what a gem. Real nice guy. Can't wait to return next time we are in D.C."

The description of the dishes by the waiter perhaps gives too high an expectation compared to what you get. You should expect better especially for the prices here. The wait staff are very attentive, and friendly."

  • "I brought in a big group of people for lunch. I guess it is expected for a big group to have some kind of wait time but not that long. The restaurant waited for us to finish our appetizers before placing our order which is standard but then it resulted to a 2 1/2 hour lunch. The waiter took forever to take our orders and it took some time for our food to arrive. Next time I will tell the waiter that we have some time restrictions. It's pricy and portions are small in my opinion. I ordered the Chilean Seabass. It came with 3 small little sprouts of bokchoy. I was turned off by the presentation. My plate was so empty. The oysters, stone crabs and in house mustard was really good. Overall everything was good."

  • "The ambience is great, there seems to be a buzz when you walk into the place with its bar scene up front and nicely layed out dining area. However, that is where it goes down. The buzz about the stone crabs might be overated. The crabcake does not live up to regional standards. I ordered the bone in filet, and while admittedly informing me that I could have had the last of such cut for the evening, the chef charred the outside too much while the internal temp was rare. I asked for medium but could not get a do-over as I took the last cut. Also asked for truffle butter and got a poor attempt at that. The green beans and potatoes were servicable. However the staff was attentive and tried their hand at making recommendations."

The food and service are still fantastic, but the prices are a bit higher and the ambiance is a bit fancier. The bar looks inviting and takes up the entire first room of the restaurant with an upbeat, classy vibe. The option to make reservations is definitely a plus."

  • "I had been to Joe's in Chicago and I was very excited that they opened a restaurant in DC. We went for my Birthday. My wife was VERY thrilled when we pulled up. The service was great. We spent a long time at our table and our server was attentive, but never in a rush. The food was outstanding. Of course we had the largest stone crab claws and they were perfect. The seafood chopped salad is the regular chopped salad covered with a lot of seafood and it was delicious. Even though we were full, we had to try the steak, so we split a filet which was prepared perfectly and probably one of the best steaks I have had in a while. The creamed spinach is better than any other restaurants version. I am looking forward to coming back."

I understand about their strick seating requirements -all must be available to count eyeballs! Omg can't sit down till our daughter returned from the Restroom! Greeter had already seen her. What's the difference if we gotten seated, ordered a bottle of wine and had started a very nice evening . I don't see the point here. 3 days later and still aggravated."

  • "Creamed spinach side is best we have ever had. Filet Mignon was cooked to perfection. My wife's chopped sirloin was overcooked but was moist and very tasty. Chopped vegetable salad was excellent and plenty for two adults. This was a very good place to celebrate my wife's birthday. Several other tables were doing the same either in groups or as single couples like us. She got her favorite dessert and they also provide a dessert complete with candle for her. We'll be back for the spinach side, crab cakes and king or stone crabs."

  • "the food was very good. Our waiter was very good but before dinner I sat in the bar area and waited over 20 minutes before someone came up to me to ask what I wanted to drink. Also, the maitre d refused to seat us until our entire party was present. Considering that 2 out of 3 of us were there exactly on time for our reservation and that we would have added to their revenue by ordering drinks while we waited, as opposed to ordering zero drinks while standing and waiting, I think this is a very short-sighted policy. Also, overall it looked like there was some sort of staffing problem."

  • "This was my first visit and I wasn't sure what to expect. We ordered the Stone Crab lunch with hash browns, coleslaw and key lime pie for dessert. It was excellent -- a great value for the price! The best part of the experience was our server, Bryan. The restaurant was very busy but we had an excellent corner table and Bryan took very good care of us! I'll definitely recommend Joe's to my many DC friends and look forward to going back!"

  • "Unfortunately, Joe's comes off more as a ripoff than fine dining. I'm not a fan of restaurants who charge separately for their side dishes and particularly those where the side dish is awful. The potatoes Lyonnaise were terrible. Isn't composing the entire plate part of the culinary art? Not at Joe's apparently. We had the stone crab claws as an appetizer and they were very good. Then the King Crab claws which were also very good, but at $70 (without any sides) is just over the top. Don't get me wrong, the quality of the seafood was excellent. But overall the restaurant is just over-priced for what they're selling. I'd also echo other reviewers comments about the lackluster service."

The restaurant is probably too expensive for us to visit regularly, but it was perfect for a special occasion. Because of the stone crabs in particular, the menu is a little different from anything else you might find in DC. This dinner absolutely made my wife's birthday!"

  • "This was my was my first visit but definitely not my last. The food was just awesome and I don't say that about many places. I had the stone crabs I thought it was going weird being that they are served cold but they were delicious . I also had the lobster stuffed sole not my normal taste for fish but still good with the creamed spinach and mashe potatoes. The desert is to die for pie just isn't pie anymore when you have it at Joes. The chocolate fudge pie is a must have I was in heaven. Also tried the apple pie very delicious. When you add impeccable service to that why would you not visit Joes!"

  • "My wife and I celebrated our 18th anniversary at Joe's. I am mobile challenged and everyone was accommodating from the valet to maitre 'd to the wait staff. It was a nice touch as we were offered a glass of champagne once we were seated. Food was excellent and cooked to our satisfaction. As a finisher, we were given a dessert with a candle for our anniversary. Top notch for a new restraurant."

  • "It was Monday, March 31 and I had been waiting weeks to introduce two of my dearest friends to Joe's Seafood. All three of us are foodies and I new that they would enjoy the food, first-class service and ambience- all in that order. We recieved all at the front desk, at the bar and from the maitre d', but that is where it stopped. From the time we sat down in the main dirning room, the service was removed, like your coat at the door! Our waiter was pre-occupied from the onset. If you are busy, having our entrees arrive 15 minutes before our two sides, was inexcusable. I had to inquire three times. In the end, the server made ammends by removing the sides & offering a free desserts. Better service would have been more appreciated."

The service was the best, not too intrusive but always there is we needed something. Waiter was very professional but down to earth nice. Will go again and have already recommended to many of my friends. In fact, I have already booked a private room for a dinner party in one of their beautiful private dining rooms."
