  • "My girlfriend has been bugging me for awhile to try it. My guest for lunch was from out of town. He stated the fish and chips were the best he every had. My fish tacos were pretty fabulous, too! We started with soup. My cream of crab had great flavor, but lacked the crab. Service and atmosphere were wonderful. Try it!"

  • "You just cannot miss with Joe's....be it Vegas, Chicago or DC. The service is outstanding, the food is second to none!"

  • "Joe's consistently delivers on food and service. Having been here several times before, service has always been good, and the food is perfectly seasoned and cooked. The stonecrabs are a must, and the lobster stuffed sole was delicious! And you can't go wrong with any of their desserts, especially the boston cream pie."

  • "My boyfriend delivers linen to this company and he said that we try it after spotting Chris Rock and his family there. The mood was great and our service was excellent. We went during restaurant week. Both the Sea Bass and skirt steak was a good choice. Perfect place for a romantic night out with your partner."

  • "All food was excellent. From the crabs and lobster to the liver and onions, prepared, presented and beautifully and well. Taste combinations were clear and and not ruined by oversalting. Sides and desserts were great, drinks and wines good matches, and did I say quiet ambiance. You could really have a conversation without yelling. You can be relatively modest or go high end. This is a definite keeper."

  • "A friend and I went on 8/17 for Restaurant Week. We were impressed with the large bar area and tables. We didn't like the offerings on the Restaurant Week Menu because it was kinda plain and simple for this type of restaurant so we ordered off the regular menu. I enjoyed the garden salad it was fresh and the dressing. The fisherman's platter I got fried and the seafood was lightly coated and fried. The Halibut was really good. We also got the mac and cheese. They used the shells as the macaroni and it was cream. The table next to us got the Fried Chicken and looked very crispy and not greasy. I will definitely ordered that next time. I The service was outstanding. They kept our glasses filled and swept away the crumbs."

  • "The food was just ok. I went there with family for restaurant week. We all tried the stone crab legs. They were good but I wasn't impressed. Not enough bang for the buck. The ambience was nice, the lighting was just right. For my large party of 8, we sat at a round table, which I prefer over rectangle tables. I don't think we will go back unless we're invited."

  • "The food, service, and ambience were all excellent! Joe's would be a great restaurant to celebrate. a special occasion. I went for lunch with a friend during DC Restaurant Week. I chose this restaurant in part because the fresh seafood is flown in from Florida daily. I had sea bass over a bed of spaghetti squash with a tasty sauce. The fish was indeed very fresh and tasty. For the first course I had a beet and citrus salad. My friend had mushrooms caps stuffed with chopped chanterelle mushrooms. Both were delicious and creative. And I loved the Key Lime pie I had for dessert!"

  • "I ordered the steak instead of the fish for Restaurant Week. What a mistake. The steak was tough; I could hardly chew into it. Had to change the entrée which the waiter readily offered. Looks like a nice place but looks more like a tourist destination than one for foodies. Try some other places in town for better seafood and steak."

  • "The food was excellent but was very over priced. Not sure where why some items were so very expensive but the food was still very good."

  • "We noticed Joe's on a drive around DC, took a look at it online and made reservations to celebrate my mom and my birthday. We are so pleased that we did. While the exterior is descreet, the interior, especially the bar, is drop dead gorgeous! We were early for our reservations and were promptly seated in the main dining room. Our waiter was attentive without hovering and was very knowledgable about the menu. The stone crab & oysters were fresh & delicious. The steaks were perfectly cooked & incredibly yummy! Having our hands washed after the first course with lemon juice and steamed towels was such a nice touch! Save room for dessert! We can't wait to return!!!"

  • "We are there for our wedding anniversary. The food is a little pricey but it's top quality. So, you get what you pay for. We has the stone crabs. They are awesome. We also had the steak. I was pleasantly surprised that their steaks are just as good as their seafood. Their service is top notch as well. We will definitely eat there again."

  • "Great place for fancy eating and great food in the heart of DC. Its located about 2 blocks from the White House, very easy to get to. The place was very nice and clean. All waiters dressed in suits. We wore jeans and felt a little under-dressed but they treated us no differently. We went to try this place out since it was DC restaurant week and got a 3 course meal for just $35. We had the ceviche fish, skirt steak, stuffed mushrooms, salmon and key lime pie and it was all fabulous food! Even the basket of bread was delicious."

  • "I LOVE Joe's normally, but I don't think they get the concept of restaurant week. It is to make people love it so much they want to come back. What a blah menu. unimpressive. Thankfully I know how good it really is so I will go back, but I doubt they will get many new customers with this week."

  • "They transformed a former bank space into a restaurant that appeared to be there for 50 years - good job! Stone crab claws are classic Joe's - we've been to Miami Beach location many times. Best suited for a power dinner."

  • "I had a great experience at Joe's for my birthday. The service was unbelievable and food was exquisite. Even the pre fixe restaurant week menu was amazing. I will definitely return for another dinner outing in the future."

  • "The ambience and vibe here were great, as was the service. The noise level was high, but that worked in my favor as hubby and I had our 3 year old twins with us…The food served was disappointing though.. overcooked over salted and missing a certain something. I would imagine this a place for cocktails and appetizers , oysters crabs etc.."

  • "From the time we arrived to our dessert, the service was great. The food was delicious (crabcake, stuffed mushrooms, steak, grilled seafood platter, spinach, key lime pie). We chose to dine in the bar area, which was classy but less formal than the dining room. I grew up in Miami and used to go to Joe's once each year as a treat! This is not the only Miami Joe's in look and location, but the food is just as great! Can't wait to come back for my birthday!"

  • "Went to Joe's during Restaurant Week. The RW menu was very limited: three app choices, three entrée choices, and two deserts. The appetizers (ceviche, beet salad) were good and seemed well thought out. The key lime pie was great. Unfortunately, the entrees were just not very impressive. The service was fantastic so props to the hosts and the bartenders for a job well done during a busy time. I just wish the food had been a little better... We will be back for a non-RW lunch."

  • "Very good service, nice vibe, very good food. Had a nice, pre-fixe dinner, along with the regular orders of the other people in our party. Took a while to get the pre-fixe menu, that one came out 15 minutes after the main menu!"

  • "We went here for the first time during restaurant week and really had a great meal. The service was friendly and nobody called us "guys" which I consider a plus. Beautiful room, a former bank with all the ornate moldings and columns from the 1920's. Very fresh tasting with lots of good Florida citrus influence. Try it."

  • "My first time will definitely not be my last. This will be one of my top recommendations for friends asking for suggestions on where to dine."

  • "First time at Joe's in DC - I was looking forward to a nice treat. The staff were friendly, the atmosphere was what you'd expect from a higher end steakhouse. The soup was lovely. However, the 'whale', when compared to a similar group seafood platter at Bobby Van's (across the street) left me wanting. The experience was ok, but I was expecting much more. Right now, Joe's feels like just another higher end seafood/steak place, of which there are many in DC."

  • "Came for dinner with a friend, had a great cocktail (Pimm's Cup) to start, crab cake appetizer was delicious, along with bread basket which is the best assortment of homemade breads in DC in my opinion. Scallops over pork belly on a bed of kale was really good. Ordered sautéed spinach with garlic and the baked sweet potato with warm pecan butter for sides---both delicious. Was tempted to get pie for dessert but the peppermint ice cream with hot fudge sauce won me over and was so so incredibly fantastic that I am still thinking about it days later. Service was fine, beautiful interior in the dining room but it was packed and thus noisy. Will definitely be back!"

  • "We tried Joe's for Restaurant Week and I was super impressed with the quality of food, wine and service. We tried the mushrooms, ceviche and beet salad for entrees (everything was fantastic) and the grilled sea bass and skirt steak as entrees. Everything was PERFECTLY cooked. Our waiter made great wine suggestions and was super friendly throughout dinner. We all ended up with the key lime pie for dessert and it was SO GOOD. YUM. we will DEFINITELY go back for dinner another time. And we will ask for our same waiter (Mark Gilchrist)!! We tipped a little extra since the level of service we received far exceeded the bargain prices offered during restaurant week. For an EXCEPTIONAL dining experience, Joe's hit it out of the park."

  • "In general, a good restaurant with well prepared food, service is a bit slow. The fried seabass we ordered, the sauce was a bit heavy"

  • "Very good fish, GREAT onion strings. Restaurant was half full, so not as noisy as usual, but also inexplicable that we were ignored for a long time before getting menus, and a long wait getting our food. Waiter was condescending. Ugh."

  • "This was my second time at Joe's...the first occasion was lovely. The second time, was during restaurant week and I was disappointed of the meal options. I was hoping for more seafood dishes to chose from. I also felt rushed during lunch as my entree came out before we finished our appetizers. Made for an awkward moment. I expected better from this venue. I will go back as the food is delicious."

  • "Full bodied menu attentive service and not an overly stuffy or stiff foo foo ambience. There are alot of creative menus on the DC scene now its nice to know what you're ordering w/o needing a culinary dictionary on your phone."

  • "EXCELLENT RESTAURANT FOR Washington, DC CELEBRATED A 50TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY + BIRTHDAYS, AND THEY COULDN'T HAVE BEEN MORE ATTENDING, THE FOOD WAS GREAT AND THE STAFF WERE OUTSTANDING AND VERY PLEASANT. THEY EVEN GAVE US A COMPLIMENTARY DESERT FOR OUR CELEBRATIONS. THIS WAS MY 2ND VISIT AND WON'T BE MY LAST!"

  • "Second time here and highs are the key lime pie and yes even the Arnold Palmers, steak with the steak seasoning (not sure why I was offered some but wife was not and we ordered the same thing), and creamed spinach. Lows. Service shouldn't have to ask you to take away the empty glasses after you refresh drinks. For the price service should be flawless not flawed."

  • "Reservation for a Saturday night. Arrived a bit early and scored a prime parking spot just across the street. Enjoyed a drink at the bar waiting for our table. Respectable pours, friendly staff, comfortable space. Main dining room was tastefully appointed but a bit on the crowded side. Entrees excellently cooked and respectable portions for the price/location. Friend onions and hash browns sides were a miss. Kudos on the ability to order half slices (still generous) of cake/pie for dessert. Wait and bus staff were attentive and polished; never kept waiting. Managers unobtrusively kept the show going. Overall, good showing and worth a repeat visit."
