to my fellow LA foodies. Even though I have to travel 8 miles to get to Joe's, I don't mind doing so once or twice a week. Why? Because the food is on a much higher level than your usual LA restaurant. After all, food is what stand in the center, when I visit restaurants :) Ambiance is not to loud. Not to quiet either. No waiter feel smarter than you. I'll be back soon.

Great anniversary spot! Always a feel good experience. The waitress helped steer us with our likes in drinks. The food is hard to choose from….we wanted to try everything. Gourmet, fancy AND healthy. And the food portions were just right. Loved the gluten free options as well

Joe's serves excellent food in a sophisticated setting. Located on Venice's happening Abbott Kinney Ave, it's the most fine dining oriented resto on a resto heavy street. It's perfect for a romantic dinner a deux or a birthday celebration for ten which was happening when we were there. We've gone many times and will continue to frequent Joe's because it really never disappoints

$23 is a startling bargain for a vibrant, fresh, inventive three course meal with your choice of everything. My crudo was delicate and firm; my salmon capped with an impeccably crisp skin; my panna cotta perfectly textured. As usual, there were some wrinkles with the service: for example, we had to ask for bread. But with the kitchen at the top of its game, and the price this unbelievable, who cares?

A beet salad should be about the beets. Not so at Joe's. A lettuce salad with one (1) very small beet cut in half. Goat cheese with a very small shmeer in two places. Very disappointed. Sad dabs could have used a bit of seasoning. Capers perhaps. Very bland. You don't win Chopped with food like this!

Every time I come to LA I find a way to go to Joe's. The food is great and it's a lovely restaurant. This time, though, we were seated in the main room and my dinner partner and I were forced to shout across the table at each other to be heard. 'Energetic' doesn't go nearly far enough to describe the noise level. Surely there is a way to fix the acoustics? Because then, it would be perfect.

I like Joe's, his restaurant has been around for years, so he's doing something right....not sure I like it as much as I use to...I really miss the steak with Balsamic sauce with roasted artichokes and mashed potatoes, or the pork tender loin with mushrooms, or the scallops with squash puree, which are no longer on the menu. He had some great dishes that I enjoyed eating every time I went, and they would bring me back... Sometimes giving up the great for the new, is not always appreciated by some, if perhaps by most.....The restaurant has a nice vibe, and the servers are nice also....

There are countless dining options on Abbot Kinney and many of them have great food. The reason I prefer Joe's to Gjelina or Tasting Kitchen is that it is unpretentious and it has a warm, traditional vibe. Joe is a really nice guy and on more than one occasion he has stepped out of the kitchen to say hello and make sure that everything is tasting great (and it always is). The octopus appetizer is amazing and the fish and other dishes are always cooked to perfection. The wait staff really know their wines and unlike other restaurants in the area they don't make you feel like it's your privilege to eat there. Instead they take good care of you and when you make a reservation you can count on your table be ready.

Let me be clear! I did not make an Open Table reservation at Joe's for October 26! Days earlier I had made a reservation for November 01 at Joe's, which I'm looking forward to on Saturday! I was surprised to get this Open Table review request for October 26, and I'm sorry for Joe that he probably held a table for me. I apologize, Joe! I completed the above questionaire gleaning from my earlier experiences at Joe's. Without question, it's my favorite in Venice. I highly recommend and enjoy the restaurant, and I encourage everyone to check it out. But maybe make your reservation by phone, and actually talk with his fine staff.

Service was stellar, food was excellent. Mole sauce on the tacos was the best I ever had, more salsa-ish than chocolate (which was a good thing, since I am not a big fan of mole). Was the 1st time I'd ever been to Joe's in all these yrs, will for sure go back. Would have liked to have seen the "regular" lunch menu on a Sat tho. Was kind of bummed it was only a brunch menu offered on a Sat. Still really good food tho.

We went next door to have a drink before they opened and ended up running a few mins late. I walked over to tell The hostess she said not to worry to take our time. When we came back she remembered me and called me by my name. That may have been a little detail but for me those small details are just as important as the food. The food was as beautiful as it mouth watering, we couldn't wait for the next bite or the next course. The staff were inviting, professional, and overal it was a really wonderful experience. The back patio was a bit more quite than the front of the restaurant. Although the fountain was not working the ambiance was very peaceful and romantic.

I loved the simplicity of the place,it looks like a home dining room and it makes you feel at home, very comfortable and that the focus is in the food. We were pleasantly surprised to see the special Rosh Hashanah menu available. I tried it and it was absolutely delicious! The couscous and eggplant starter was one of the best dishes I've ever had, followed by beautiful cod and a dessert of poached pears. Presentation was excellent. The wine pairings were perfect, especially the Pinot Noir with the cod. My companions enjoyed their calamari and mushroom ravioli though they reported that the ravioli was a bit salty. Service was nice and relaxed and very attentive. I don't know why we waited so long to try Joe's -- we will return. Note, it is pricey. We spent $225+ for three, with drinks but no bottles or dessert.

Great brunch menu! Fresh ingredients presented very nicely. Attentive service and a nice atmosphere. And the awesome food is reasonably priced. I will definitely come back here. I tried the confit pork belly with fig, shaved fennel, corn cake topped with poached egg and grilled corn salad. Everything was seasoned very well. The freshness of the fennel was great with the richness of the pork. The corn was sweet and tangy. The egg was poached perfectly. This dish really surprised me in a great way. I think the only way it could improve would be to add some spicy heat. Maybe some roasted chillies in the corn cake would work. Even without modification, this dish is stellar.

If you find yourself in Venice, or nearby Marina Del Rey or Santa Monica (from where I walked there down Main street and on to Abbott Kinney), definitely do yourself a favor and book a dinner here. Great, bright, casually cool atmosphere. Bright coloured decor toned down with dimmed lighting, signature cocktails, and interesting menu creations make this a can't miss if you're in the area.
