  • "Joe does a great deal for weekday lunch, but is pricy at other times. Great quality and presentation. Vegetarian Friendly"

  • "I've been going to Joe's Restaurant for many years. I have always enjoyed the complete dining experience there. They change the menu daily and the food has always been imaginative and delicious. Whenever I'm in the mood for a wonderful meal in a memorable restaurant, Joe's comes immediately to mind."
    Dined on 4/8/2014
  • "Inexperienced waitress handling too many tables led to long waits. Food was good but unremarkable for the price. Skip dessert. Rowdy celebrity at the next table."
    Dined on 4/6/2014
  • "Wonderful, wonderful staff--exceptional service. It is simply impossible to enjoy good food if you have mediocre and indifferent service and Joe's staff really enhances the great cuisine. Every single employee at Joe's makes you feel welcome and does their job with pride and care. The food is exceptional. Sit in the back room--quiet and relaxing. Experiment with the cocktails that are created at Joe's --yummy!"

  • "The staff knows the menu well and is always friendly. The food is fresh and current, changing with the season, but they also keep favorites on the menu - like the octopus salad. Love the room and the energy - lively but not crazy noisy."

  • "Second time at Joe's, disappointed by undercooked fish and disastrous watery potato-leek soup, lacking both ingredients. Lively atmosphere and good wine list compensated the culinary failures however..."

  • "One of the reasons I go there for lunch is Margaret. She is the best server in town. Remembers everyone. Knows what you want and like for lunch. The lunch is great, relaxing and being in the patio is delightful all year. The food is alway good."
    Dined on 3/28/2014
  • "Joe's lunch is the best in town. The food is AWAYS superb, now with the prefix menu of $19 for three courses, it can't be beat. The portions are perfect size, food always fresh and unique, preparations and the service is the best. I have a special friend who meets me there a couple times a year and we sit for hours while we eat and catch up. I have never felt rushed. Joe's remains top of my list."

  • "We have eaten at Joe's a number of times now and even though this last trip was probably the lowest on the scale, it was still outstanding. We had some confusion on orders and the octupus salad was exceptionally rubbery and salty (they took it off the bill), but the entres were fantastic. The Red Snapper was out of this world. I highly recommend Joe's."
    Dined on 3/23/2014
  • "Still one of my absolute favorites....could eat here every week.... Love the menu, the food and location. Come from top of Mulholland to Abbott Kinney to come here....always happy. Never disappointed"

  • "Wonderful food ( asparagus salad, leafy green salad, duck liver); our server was lovely and efficient and in particular we were impressed by the genuine good service, quality, good humor and attention of the people who brought the bread and served the food. Please reward them for how well they serve the reputation of Joe's."

  • "We celebrated my wife's Birthday Lunch at Joes on the recommendation of a Venice local . It was an excellent choice. The menu choices were excellent and the house wine was just wonderful. They have a lunch special of $19 for a starter, the entree and an excellent dessert choice. You can't go wrong at Joe's. Everyone else knows that too, since the restaurant was full."
    Dined on 3/7/2014
  • "Great meal! The chef and owner both stopped by the table to check on our meal. Food was fresh and creative and cooked to perfection. Already booked my next trip back!!!"

  • "We visited on a recent Saturday night with friends. As always, the food was wonderful; Joe stopping by our table was a special treat. The service was good, if a bit over-aggressive, and the restaurant was very noisy (it was Saturday night, however). Still the best place in Venice and surrounding area."

  • "Joe's has great food. I especially like the specials, such as the prix fixe lunch and the Thursday dinners with cocktail pairings. Great for events too--my daughter will be having her bridal shower in the patio"

  • "Joe's provides a comfortable dining environment with a very appealing and creative menu. The service is attentive but not intrusive. Four of us had the time to savor the taste texture and visual presentation of our meals while enjoying extensive conversation and never felt interrupted or rushed. We had a delightful evening"

  • "There must be a new chef since our last visit, because the menu (even the drink menu) had changed: trying to be "creative" or "inventive" and ending up too often tasteless (the soup) or silly (my "oaxaca" cocktail). Were this the first time I'd eaten in Joe's I wouldn't return."

  • "My husband and I had stumbled on this place online. We had a wonderful brunch there, enjoying every single bit of the Prix Fixe menu, which the staff kept updating with items from the daily menu, as people were too quick to devour the dishes on it. After that, our minds were made, so a week later we took our parents there to celebrate our elopement. Again, we couldn't have picked a better spot! Everything was outstanding, from the appetizers to the beautiful cake we had requested! We will be going back for sure!"

  • "Joe's is a restaurant with a neighborhood comfortable, casual feel but the food is more upscale. It's an odd mix but perfect for Abbott Kinney. The food was very fresh and the preparation was more like what you'd find at a trendy downtown restaurant. Both the lamb and duck were done to perfection really. Dining at Joe's was like having a gourmet chef in your home and the service was also upscale casual. It's the only way I can describe it."

  • "This is a boutique restaurant. We had the cocktail pairing 5 course dinner and were delighted by all of the dishes and drinks. The lamb was delicious and perfectly paired with a jalapeno infused vodka cocktail. I would highly recommend that you try the Thursday pairing."

  • "We love going to Joe's ... so much that we do it about once a week! The prix fixe lunch is a marvelous deal and it's delicious. The servers and staff are always professional and nice!"
    Dined on 2/11/2014
  • "I've been to Joe's before and was very displeased with my last experience. The food was average at best, my steak was not truly rare my girlfriends lamb was inconsistently cooked, one piece was perfectly cooked and the other was completely over cooked and chewy. I enjoy a fine dining experience and should not be rushed at any point of the meal. We were pestered every 5 minuets or so until we were basically forced to give the full order of the meal on the chef's request. This was to push us out fast as possible and generate more revenue. To put the cheery on the top the server was rude throughout. Joe's is not a representation of fine dining and most certainly not to the standard of a michelin stared restaurant. Try something else."

  • "My wife and I had brunch t Joe's last Sunday. Everything was great, food, service, ambiance. Their bottomless mimosas are a deal!"
    Dined on 2/9/2014
  • "Great food and outstanding service. Went with the prix-fixe menu for two, and we both chose different items meaning we had seven different plates to enjoy on the table. Drinks were great, and the recommended wine parings for each course were spot-on. Hats off to a great evening. We will be back!"

  • "We've been enjoying brunches and dinners at Joe's for a long time. We went to brunch with friends this past Sunday and I ordered the crab hash. It was almost sopping wet. I didn't like it at all and I should have sent it back and ordered something different. One of our guests ordered the same thing and hers came out moderately soppy. I hope they correct this."

  • "With so many new restaurants opening up in the Venice area over the past few years, it had been a while since I'd eaten at Joe's. I'd forgotten how reliably excellent the food is. Beautifully prepared food with excellent service. Our server was appropriately attentive and very knowledgeable about the food. My only small issues were with where we were seated (in a little alcove by the door) and the incredibly small cocktail I was served. These were relatively insignificant issues though and I'll definitely be returning to Joe's."

  • "After hearing good things about long-time Venice favorite, really wanted to love Joe's, but waiter with barely concealed attitude toward three 60 something ladies, combined with porcini ravioli swimming in butter sauce and a too salty pan-fried chicken, disappointed. Liked old oak flooring & contemporary art ambience, the very attentive serving staff (my water glass never ran dry), and friendly hostess. But waiter couldn't successfully conceal his irritation at being saddled with three untrendy older women whe were not running up a bar bill and one of whom was admittedly annoying with her food substitution requests. But immediately waiter's condescension appeared as he passively aggressively "negotiated" the changes. Green salad was good."

  • "Never disappointed when you go to Joe's! Consistently good. Went for lunch for birthday celebration for prix fixe --great deal, superb choices. Ate on patio"

  • "We no longer live in LA and last ate at Joes when it was a third the size. It's grown up into a swank grown up place with excellent service. We had the three course fixed price lunch, which, at $19 for three courses, was the best value ever. The starter was raw albacore on a stack of thin sliced veg in a vinaigrette, the main four large Gulf prawns on a bed of risotto with an incredible chopped tomato topping, and a dessert of passion fruit mousse on crumbled meringue with sorbet. The other entrees were a Cubano sandwich and a Mexican seasoned pulled pork which were eaten before I managed a bite. If we were living here, we'd eat lunch here twice a week. As we leave tomorrow, we're having brunch at Joes today."
