A word from Joe's Bar & Grill
Located above the Wailea Tennis Center, Joes has panoramic ocean views on one side and vistas of Haleakala on the other. Internationally acclaimed Chef Bev Gannon masterminds the menu, while husband Joe Gannon is credited with the theatrical lighting and inspiration of this popular dining spot.

Wonderful comfort food, with a gourmet streak such as slow roasted prime rib, with mashed potatoes, our BBQ ribs, and Joes favorite meatloaf. Fresh local fish is also offered nightly including appetizers such as the ahi carpaccio and calamari. Don't forget about the "World famous crab dip"! The Seafood jambalaya with fresh fish, shrimp and scallops is another favorite.

Children are welcome, offering a fun kids menu and special drinks like the green gecko.

One of Wailea's best Mai Tai's, crazy martinis, and and exceptional wine list from well known producers as well as smaller boutique wineries.

Phenomenal appetizer, meals and drinks and the service we received from Vince was superb. We started with the crab dip and Bevs Mango Tin. The dip was delicious and served hot. The drink was served in a stemless martini glass sitting in an ice bath which keeps your drink cold from start to finish. Our entrees were short ribs and the pumpkin crusted Mahi Mahi. Both were cooked to perfection. We watching the lovely sunset as we enjoyed this incredible dining experience. If you are in Maui be sure and make reservations at Joes, you will be glad you did.

We had dined here last year and really enjoyed the food. Everything was very good. We were looking forward to returning this year. Sooo disappointed. It all started with a hot appetizer that was served cold. Our waiter quickly made sure we got a new one served hot. Then my husband ordered the prime rib and the mashed potatoes were cold. How does that happen? I ordered the short ribs and they were "warm" but my carrots were steaming hot! No consistency. Very disappointing. We were offered dessert but declined. The manager did buy us a drink. Too bad this happened but we will never go back.

Joe's is a Bev Gannon restaurant, but with a more casual ambiance than the nearby Gannon's restaurant. The space is attractive, comfortable, and open-air, but the only view is of the adjacent tennis club. We ordered from the pri-fixe menu for Wailea Restaurant Week, which seemed to only overlap the regular menu with one entree (the meatloaf). The food was excellent: the Mexican Caesar salad and tortilla soup to start, the meatloaf (with a tasty tangy sauce) and seafood enchiladas (delicious!) to follow. The bread pudding a la mode was wonderful. All of that food was $29 per person, a remarkable price for Wailea; however, I struggle a bit with the prices on the regular menu, as Joe's does not have the elegance I'd expect to support $36-38 entree pricing. Service was polished and professional.

I first dined at Joe's about 20 years ago and have returned each time I come to Maui. This long time Wailea restaurant appears to have lost its committment to great food. The menu was a typical Grill menu. Located in Maui , I expected a range of good fresh seafood, but that was not the case. The food was rather bland. The service was mediocre. I will not be back.

We were staying close enough to walk to the restaurant. It was a Sunday night so pretty quiet, although 3/4 of the tables became occupied. It was dark when we got there so no idea about views, but this is not a beach site, it is in a quiet area of Wailea. We had the crab dip appetizer everyone has written about and two very good Mai Tais. We were there for a simple dinner, so my wife had a ice berg wedge salad and I had the kobe beef burger and we shared. We each had a glass of wine as well. It was plenty of food. Service was great and it was a nice quiet dinner. I would say that the crab dip is super salty, and the other food was on the salty side as well, so you might ask for less salt.

We have eaten at Joe's many times throughout the years, and every time we leave excited to come back. We started with the crab dip, which is delicious and highly recommended. Entrees included the braised short rib, the ahi tuna special, and the seafood jambalaya. All three were cooked to perfection. Finally we finished off dinner with the chocolate bread pudding. What a wonderful way to finish a great meal! The service was also excellent. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and wine list and was very attentive without being overbearing. A must visit whenever you're in Maui!

The atmosphere was quaint and quiet with a touch of blues music playing in the background, which is a wonderful contrast to the many Maui restaurants which are are loud and noisy. The food and drinks were exceptional. Where else on vacation do you get meatloaf and real mash potatoes cooked and presented in a fine dining experience?

open table found this restaurant for us and decided to go. it is a little hard to find and a longer walk down stairs to get to. But it had good selection local and comfort. i took a chance on their ribs-- and they were right on the money! Wife had meat loaf and was not disappointed. Waiter was excellent, drinks and deserts all good. A great time, glad we went!

Our first visit to Joe's in January 2014 was amazing and I was looking forward to the return all year. Alas - this visit did not live up to expectations. Our reservations were for 6:30PM on Halloween and we were informed that two items had already ran out and one was about to run out. Luckily none of us were planning on those dishes... we order drinks and they were amazing and the appetizers were great (crab dip and clams). Then the SW Caesar salad came and lettuce was not very firm and not much flavor. Next was the main dish of short ribs and they were way overcooked and bland. I'm sure it was just a bad night but we will try one more time. It's OK to have one bad night and we will try again in the future.

This is one of our favorite restaurants on Maui and the service and food are exceptional. It sits above a tennis court and has a great ocean sunset view. If you've had enough fish while on the island (although the fish is very good here also) try the ribs or if you want comfort food they are known for their meatloaf and is my husbands favorite. They make the best mai tai's also.

A little hard to fond in the dark, but quick phone call remedied that and we parked in Wailea Tennis Club parking and we were chauffered to Joe's in a golf cart from the lot. Enjoyed delicious Kobe Beef burgers with thick steak fries in this cool, posh space surrounded bu the chic tennis courts of Wailea. Most enjoyable evening with great service.

A view to the ocean and over the tennis courts. Tony was a very good seasoned server. I enjoyed the mango cocktail with the dried mango garnish (the bamboo skewer "sheds" so be careful), good mixing, just strong enough and not too sweet. The beet salad was colorful and tasty. Famous crab dip was way too salty- more like an onion dip from 1965. I was looking forward to the chicken pot pie as it is not often on island menus, and I was told it had the small pearl onions. It never was cohesive as it was sauteed chicken added to a gravy with a few veggies in it and too salty, with no onions, lacking finesse. They graciously removed it from our check. Prime rib dinner had good veg/potato, but beware the rub had sugar in it - too sweet.

My husband had Joe's meatloaf and mashed potatoes...as he does every time we visit! It is topped with a tangy barbecue sauce that is perfect. We'd heard this was a hidden gem run by a lauded chef. it's definitely hidden within the raquet club in Waimea but the unique setting aside there was not much special about it. Very humdrum menu prepared with little attention to execution, tough short ribs with what seemed like Costco bottled BBQ sauce, soggy fries and a calamari appetizer so unappealing/tasteless we sent it back. Fish tasted frozen and not particularly flavorful. The staff was the bright spot - cheerful, attentive and knowledgeable (Jed was our waiter - did a very good job).

We went on a recommendation of a friend. Turns out this place was the real deal. It was three of us. The salads were all great as each one of ipusually tried something different. The entrees were all good. The only complaint I would have is that the chicken pot pie was more like a soup with a puff pastry thrown on the top, and it didn't have much chicken in it at all. The prime rib was a huge portion and absolutely great. My son ordered the meatloaf, and I tasted it...it was by far one of the best I have ever eaten. Overall we will go back as this had a great view and the open air resturant made for a great evening.

Perched above the Waikiki Tennis club, Joe's can be a little tricky to find, but well worth the effort. My wife and I indulged in some simple comfort food (black market ribs and kobe burger), and were amazed at how well these two simple and common dishes were executed by the talented chefs. They were close to the very best examples of each of these two dishes we had ever tried. The ribs were fall-off the bone tender and the BBQ sauce sweet and tangy. The burger was moist, well prepared, and full of flavor. Even the steak fries were executed perfectly. The outside crispy while the inside was tender and creamy. We couldn't resist dessert, and our server recommended the bread pudding. Like everything, it far surpassed it's humble name.
