A word from Joe's Bar & Grill
Located above the Wailea Tennis Center, Joes has panoramic ocean views on one side and vistas of Haleakala on the other. Internationally acclaimed Chef Bev Gannon masterminds the menu, while husband Joe Gannon is credited with the theatrical lighting and inspiration of this popular dining spot.

Wonderful comfort food, with a gourmet streak such as slow roasted prime rib, with mashed potatoes, our BBQ ribs, and Joes favorite meatloaf. Fresh local fish is also offered nightly including appetizers such as the ahi carpaccio and calamari. Don't forget about the "World famous crab dip"! The Seafood jambalaya with fresh fish, shrimp and scallops is another favorite.

Children are welcome, offering a fun kids menu and special drinks like the green gecko.

One of Wailea's best Mai Tai's, crazy martinis, and and exceptional wine list from well known producers as well as smaller boutique wineries.

Diner Reviews
  • "We had dinner here while visiting Maui. Service was excellent, from the guy who picked us up in a golf cart so we didn't have to walk from the lot, to the wonderful and knowledgeable wait staff. The short ribs were delicious and so tender. Best was the absolutely amazing view of the sunset from our table. Thanks for a lovely evening."

  • "We took some friends from the mainland and they were raving about the food and restaurant. Tony our favorite waiter took very good care of us and was always there when he was needed. Great job!!"

  • "We'd heard this was a hidden gem run by a lauded chef. it's definitely hidden within the raquet club in Waimea but the unique setting aside there was not much special about it. Very humdrum menu prepared with little attention to execution, tough short ribs with what seemed like Costco bottled BBQ sauce, soggy fries and a calamari appetizer so unappealing/tasteless we sent it back. Fish tasted frozen and not particularly flavorful. The staff was the bright spot - cheerful, attentive and knowledgeable (Jed was our waiter - did a very good job)."

  • "We went on a recommendation of a friend. Turns out this place was the real deal. It was three of us. The salads were all great as each one of ipusually tried something different. The entrees were all good. The only complaint I would have is that the chicken pot pie was more like a soup with a puff pastry thrown on the top, and it didn't have much chicken in it at all. The prime rib was a huge portion and absolutely great. My son ordered the meatloaf, and I tasted it...it was by far one of the best I have ever eaten. Overall we will go back as this had a great view and the open air resturant made for a great evening."

  • "Service was very cordial and informative; BBQ baby backs were meaty, tender, flavorful. Banana split was enough for 3-4 people to share. Wine list limited but reasonably priced."

  • "To celebrate a birthday Joe's provided us with an outstanding memory. The food was exceptional as was the service. What more could one want?"

  • "Perched above the Waikiki Tennis club, Joe's can be a little tricky to find, but well worth the effort. My wife and I indulged in some simple comfort food (black market ribs and kobe burger), and were amazed at how well these two simple and common dishes were executed by the talented chefs. They were close to the very best examples of each of these two dishes we had ever tried. The ribs were fall-off the bone tender and the BBQ sauce sweet and tangy. The burger was moist, well prepared, and full of flavor. Even the steak fries were executed perfectly. The outside crispy while the inside was tender and creamy. We couldn't resist dessert, and our server recommended the bread pudding. Like everything, it far surpassed it's humble name."

  • "Joes Bar and Grille is a terrific casual dining spot in the Wailea area. Tucked away off the mail areas, the scenery is fabulous. Like Bev Gannon's other restaurants, the food is just fantastic."

  • "Out of all the restaurants we ate at during our recent stay - this one was one that we regretted. The crab dip was OVERLY salty and very generic. The salad we ordered was one of the worst I've ever had. The flavors didn't work well together at all. Because the menu was very limited for entree's, we ended up ordering a chicken pot pie. We kept thinking to ourselves "why on Earth would we eat a chicken pot pie while in Maui with all this fresh fish"? It was because they didn't have much to offer and I don't think the fish would have been cooked correctly. We skipped dessert after looking at the table next to us and seeing what looked like packaged food. We also had reso's at Gannon's and cancelled when we realized they had the same owner."

  • "While the food was well prepared, it didn't live up to its former reputation as being "outstanding." As the case of similar restaurants in Maui that gained a great reputation some years ago, the food wasn't that special especially considering the cost."

  • "Delicious food and good service. It could use a little more ambience. But, we would definitely go there again!"

  • "Dined at Joe's on a hot, humid evening (Wailea is hot and humid), and being an open air restaurant without air conditioning, dining was not the most comfortable. Food was not anything special. Nice view. My group was only one of three tables there, and staff was very attentive, and service was great."

  • "Outstanding chicken wings, kale (!) salad, wood oven pizza. Servers attentive, even with a full house. Nice selection of gins. AND for dessert, strawberry cream pie. Never had such a wonderful piece of pie. "

  • "Went here with my wife. Took ten minutes to figure out where to park and how to get to this place (not good). While many nearby restaurants enjoy nice ocean views and sunsets, this restaurant overlooks tennis courts?? It was our honeymoon and we had made note on Open Table. That message apparently did not get to the staff at the restaurant. The food was not very good. I suspect my fish had been cooked elsewhere and heated up in the kitchen as the plate was extremely hot and the fish was very rubbery. My wife was not very happy with her meal either. I must say that our server was extremely attentive and seemed very concerned that we did not enjoy our entrees."

  • "Our least favorite of Bev Gannon's trio of wonderful restaurants, Joe's comes across as stodgy to us. Food is very good as is the service but view reduced by trees and generally just lacks vibrance. Like the painting on the wall, feels like a golf course watering hole/restaurant for the gang to gather to play cards and smoke cigars!"

  • "My bride and I go to Maui just about every year for the weather, beaches, golf and enjoy the local restaurants. Joe's is without a doubt one of our go to places every year. Everything of the menu is done to perfection. We will be back again next year to enjoy Joe's again!"

  • "If they ain't servin' (obama's pronunciation, even if he makes fun of palin) kareem brew lei, don't bother goin'. It's woirld class! Oh, I can write the king's English, but feel it necessary to reflect on the double standard given the great American statesman and resident wit. "

  • "Once you enter Joe's you are greeted by a friendly hostess staff and treated like one of the family. The menu selection lists many local fish entrees as well as a generous Kobe Burger and Joe's Famous Meatloaf. A fine selection of wine and spirits are also available all served by a friendly and knowledgable staff. It is always a treat for us to visit Joe's when we are on the island of Maui"

  • "We make Joe' a must do every time we come to Maui. The food is always excellent, and we like the elegant yet casual atmosphere. The golf cart ride down the hill can be exciting....hang on! The crab dip is wonderful, and there is plenty to share. The macadamia crusted fish is perfect. Even the meatloaf is something special."

  • "Especially enjoyed the ribs. Excellent service, good wine list. I don't think Bev is trying to make Joe's a culinary star, like Gannon's and Hailemaile, but rather a place to enjoy good food in a comfortable setting. Tricky to find, however!"

  • "A bit hidden away, Joe's is worth the work to find it. A casual place with great food and reasonable wine markups. The ribs, meatloaf and prime rib were all excellent. Service was acceptable. Decor nothing to write home about, bit go during sunset and you won't notice."
    Dined on 3/16/2014
  • "I would suggest this is dated dining. Even comfort food can use updating. We found the cooking competent, but not inspired, and the restaurant overpriced for the experience. The room is more akin to a clubhouse dining room than a restaurant. Doubtless this style of cooking has its fans, and the place was certainly busy enough the night we went, but for a gourmet experience, go elsewhere."
    Dined on 3/15/2014
  • "Four of us had dinner post sunset. Service was attentive. I only wish the server would have been a bit more attentive and inquisitive to our tastes in order to make recommendations. Although we made good choices, I would guess the server could have made the right inquiries and we would have had amazing dinners to suit our tastes. Being visitors from over 3000 miles away we do not know the chef's specialties."

  • "The ahi carpaccio was on of the most delicious dishes I have tasted! It is pounded flat with truffle oil and parmesan cheese on top. Yum!! Three of our teenagers enjoyed the chicken and waffle sandwich. There's something for everyone here."

  • "The dining room was beautifully set and we were ushered to a beautiful table. Our server took our drink orders immediately, ( the first most important part of the experience), He made sure our glasses were as full as we wanted it to be. He was clear in going over the menu and specials. Our food came out in a timely fashion (even though the restaurant was full). The food was excellent, I can still taste the ahi carpacchio (spelling?) which was wonderful. I will definitly go back to Joes on our next evening out and i will recommend it to all the people we know"
