  • "Joe's is a great eating spot. Vibrant with loads of action, good menu and the food is well prepared. The early evening I was there with two other people, the volume of the music in the bar/outdoor seating area was deafening. It was literally impossible to hold a normal conversation and even hearing the waitress was difficult. Although our initial order got "lost" (according to our waitress), the second order we put in was delivered in about 20 minutes (total wait time for our food was about 40 minutes). The food was served hot and was quite good. Unfortunately the "semi-outdoor" seating (fold back roof) allowed the breezes to blow into the eating area and by the time I finished my once-hot pasta dish, it was stone cold."

  • "Although very busy, this was a great place for our mid-afternoon Saturday meal. The service was great. Our server was very personable, had vast knowledge about the food and drinks, and was completely attentive to us. Our party had both lunch and brunch items which were of a high quality. I went with an unusual French theme: French onion soup and French toast. Both were delicious!"

  • "My daughter and I enjoyed our lunch at Joe's American Bar and Grill. The appetizer fish tacos, chicken Caesar salad, and clam chowder bread bowl were all very good. The waitress was most attentive and all-in-all it was a very nice lunch experience. Prices are reasonable at Joe's American Bar and Grill and this restaurant is a good choice for cocktails and/or dining when in the Copley Square area."

  • "Hosted seven college students on a Friday night. Good food, fun atmosphere and great service. Lots of food options for the girls - they were all over the menu. Everyone had a terrific evening."

  • "We were seated promptly at the reservation time. The waiter was attentive but not intrusive. He was very accommodating to our needs. The Braised Short Rib was fork tender and moist. The house salad has good mixed greens and the Raspberry Walnut Vinaigrette was very good. Overall, the visit was very enjoyable."

  • "Today I dined at Joe's and once again, I was completely satisfied! My friend and I started off with Joe's famous nachos and we loved them so much, the two of us ate the entire plate in minutes. Then, we both had delicious burgers! Joe's is such a great place for lunch, I go every time I'm on Newbury St. If you haven't been to Joe's, I HIGHLY suggest that you dine there as soon as possible! If you have a big group to dine with you that's even better! You won't regret it!"

  • "location, facility, service, bread and salads were great. Ribs and slaw were tastless. Presentation poor - just piled on top of each other on a too small plate. Butternut squash ravioli was so-so."

  • "Our party was seated promptly, and I was very pleased to notice that the music in the restaurant wasn't blaring too loudly for conversation. Our server, whose name I have unfortunately forgotten, took excellent care of us and did a great job at keeping our orders straight! I very much enjoyed my glass of Sam Adams Boston Brick Red (it's now my favorite beer!), and was just tickled to bits when I was not only presented with a free dessert due to it being my birthday, but was also serenaded by a trio of servers who are quite talented singers. The food was pretty good overall, although my ribs were definitely overdone and there was too much rosemary in the bbq sauce. My husband enjoyed his burger, however. We'll definitely be back!"

  • "I have not had a bad experience at any Joe's in MA. I have a gluten allergy and they are extremely accommodating, they send a manager out for my order. Large menu, lots of options, and friendly service."

  • "Saw the restaurant while out for a walk, decided to try it after reading up on the place online. I would highly recommend Joe's. The ambience is welcoming, the wait staff was energetic and fun, the food was very good and served quickly and efficiently. Certainly a restaurant I will visit again when next I visit Boston."

  • "We are from Montreal, Canada. We come to Boston once a year for a Bruins hockey game. I have also been coming for the past couple of years with my girlfriends going to Cape Cod. We usually go to Joe's on the harbour, but this time we went on Newbury, it was close to our hotel, (the Hyatt). My favorite is clam chowder in bread bowl, nothing beats it at Joe's! Its hard to find chowder in bread bowl anywhere elset. We were with another couple on Saturday night, and we all enjoyed our food. Our waitress was from Russia, she has been in the U.S. for three months now. Her name was Elvira. She was a sweetheart, we had many conversations with her as she served us. She was excellent! We had a great time in Boston, Joe's is always a part of that!"

  • "A one block walk from the Marriott Copley Prudential Shopping Complex, this is a great place for lunch. Reserve on Open Table. Our group table was ready and in a semi-private room. Good waiter and good food delivered at the right speed."

  • "gluten-free menu options galore - very attentive servers - items made from scratch - seating in the lower level is cozy. We really love going to Joe's. It's a great go-to option."

  • "We were seated and had a great view of night life on Newbury St. Joe, our waiter was friendly, attentive and helpful. This was our first visit to Joe's as we were only visiting Boston for the weekend. I wish we had asked for a table on the inner part of the restaurant, but we had no way of knowing how cold it would get at our table. It was the first time I ever remembered eating dinner with my winter coat on. I guess we were too polite to ask to be moved, but the temperature had a negative effect on the entire meal. The food might have been good, but "we were too cold to tell." Hey guys, here's a suggestion.....In the winter months you should use that space near the door as a waiting area only !"

  • "Been here twice - once with my husband and another with a group for the Super Bowl champs. Both times, the food and service could not be faulted. My husband LOVES the bread! The ambience on our first visit was subdued liveliness - perfect for a date. On Super Bowl night, it was more energetic than normal but that's to be expected. It was great for us to see the love Boston locals have for sport without excessive rowdiness that may be found in a pub. This place hits the mark for many occasions - whether you're dining casually with friends, or having a date night. You can dress it up or down as you like because it's got a classy but not pretentious feel. Highly recommended."

  • "I went for lunch on Newbury street in the summer and loved the open windows and set up, atmosphere was great along with food and service. I then decided to have dinner there, food and service was excellent however the portion sizes were a little small for what you pay for. If I go again I think it will probably be just for lunch and not so much dinner. I personally having bigger portions for dinner. Wine list is also wonderful. Tried a glass of white wine that I've never had before and I still rave about it to this day!"

  • "I absolutely love eating at Joe's whenever I go to Newbury Street. The food is just spectacular. Be sure to order the nachos! The drinks, from what I saw from the people around me, are ornate and large so perfect for happy hour. The food is served in large portions and you will absolutely leave feeling full and content. I highly recommend this place! It's a must go!"

  • "Ordered Grey Goose on the rocks... either it was not genuine Grey Goose or there was something wrong with the ice cubes or tonic water. I order this drink at EVERY restaurant I go to and there was something wrong here."

  • "This was our second visit thus year. The previous one we were seated downstairs where it was pretty quiet. It was VERY noisy upstairs. We really couldn't have a conversation with the other couple. I love nice rare prime rib. If they don't have rare I'll order something else. But the waiter told me that had rare...'not a problem' and then brought me a piece of medium to medium well!! They have someone else bring out the food and the waiter never come over yo look at it and ask how our meal was . Or maybe he did, saw mine and left after telling me they had rare! I don't like to send stuff back, I just won't go back....."

  • "The hostess(average, blonde, with persistent a scowl)didn't greet us in anyway.Awkwardly I said, "I made a res. for 2" she said "It'll be a few minutes for us to set a table" rudely. You would assume that the table is already set when you make a reservation but I didn't mind the wait. She then loudly stated, "Yeah, there is no way they're getting a window table!" (I had made a comment in my res. that if possible I would like a window table, but I didn't expect much). I was mortified, as I had a London visitor with me and I told him Joe's was a must.Joe the server was funny and great. but the lead hostess will keep me away from this Joe's, my guest was shocked at how rude the first impression of a establishment acted and treated us."

  • "This was my 3rd time at Joe's and the servers we're very nice but forgot certain ingredients on my burger (there are many to choose from) and did not bring straws after asked until the dinner was almost over. Overall the food was great and I would go back for a 4th time."

  • "Love this place -- lively atmosphere, fun food and tremendous value. It's owned by same restaurant group as Abe 'N Louie's and therefore is a great steakhouse but without the stuffiness or extremely high prices. Sit at street level by the window to people watch (reminds me of places like this in Rome), or in a private booth further back in restaurant, or at one of two lively and warm bars or at a big round table in the back near the kitchen to watch all the action -- people are friendly and helpful, and they graciously accept reservations -- which I recommend any time of day just to be sure you get in without a wait."

  • "This was our first time to Joe's but not our first time in Boston, glad we tried this diner. The menu was amazing, but not quite as amazing as the cocktails which were delish!! Our only small gripe was that we were not even half way through our appetizers when the main course was served, meant we felt slightly rushed."

  • "We dined at Joe's Back Bay with two kids in the craziness of New Year's Eve and had a great experience. Thank you to the wonderful staff, waiters and great energy that was in the restaurant. We had a wonderful time and will definitely move Joe's back into one of our family favorites. The quality, consistency and service are hard to match in the area."

  • "Mainly picked this location because it was in a good location and was one of the few places that was not too fancy / pricey that still had good times available for New Years dinner. Our table was ready when we arrived and the waiter was very friendly. The food was good and was served well. However, once the waiter took our order he disappeared and it took forever to get drinks for dinner and dessert. It was if they did not expect a big bar crowd for New Years."

  • "We are from Houston,TX and liked the reviews on here and Yelp so we decided to try it. There were some negative reviews that I found baseless from my visits. One of the good things is the restaurant has Bud Light on tap which is hard to find in Boston. We tried the spinach dip with crab meat and you could tell it was fresh crab meat. We both got the filet, mac and cheese and asparagus. The food was top notch and the servers took the time to ensure my glass was always full and I was never lacking anything. The steak was cooked to perfection and there isn't anything I could say that was bad about our experience. In fact, the next day we went to another restaurant and left after the first drink and came back here for a second night!"
