Everytime I dine at Joe's I am never disappointed. No matter what I order, whether it be the famous nachos or a burger, my food is always delicious. When people I know want to visit Boston, I always take them to Joe's! The atmosphere is fun, the food is delicious and all you need is good company to hit the trifecta. I absolutely love Joe's and if you hagent gone, you haven't experienced Boston :)

The food was amazing and the place is beautifully decorated. The host stand is very oddly set up and the hosts are too preoccupied talking to each other to pay attention to the guests walking through the door. We had to wait ten minutes for our reservation, and that was fine, if not for the lack of eye contact and respect granted by the host on the main computer. There was barely a smile given to us and the experience just started off weird. I understand it was a busy night, but service should be the main priority. Server was decent, but not excellent. The food was great and so was the beer so that attempted to make up for the experience but my boyfriend and I felt offended from the start of the experience.

We all had great meals - steak, kale salad and burgers. Really liked the loaf of warm bread that was served. Very attentive and friendly waiters. Just a good all-around, casual place that wasn't too expensive right in the middle of beautiful Newbury Street. Would definitely go back again.

We love Joe's for the good food, high energy, and always attentive, hard-working staff. The bar-keep (Chris) and waiter made a smart casual dining experience seem much more than the modest prices would indicate. This is a really great place to kick-start a week-end in Boston and is why I always make sure I visit here every time I am in Boston.

The ambiance is def a step above other Joes locations and u can't beat the menu prices for that location! Service pretty poor and they said they couldn't make an apple martini for my friend- that's just not true if you have a bar and a cocktail menu full of sugary flavored liquors. Good spot if you don't really care abt food quality and have another reason to be in the area.

Long wait for food. Waiter promised to bring us bread during this time and forgot. He poured water into soda. At end of meal he hastily gave us bill and seemed more interested in moving us out than offering us dessert or coffee. Borderline rude. Rueben was greasy. Burger bun was hard.

  • Poor Experience @ Joe's

Overall my experience at Joe’s was very poor. Since this restaurant has moved to its new location, the quality and service has gone downhill. We were seated in the back of the restaurant, near the glass wall facing the open kitchen. Once seated, it was apparent things have changed at Joe’s. The restaurant was filled with large groups of college aged girls celebrating their birthdays. I asked for the steak to be recooked at Medium, waiter said fine. Thirty minutes later, my recooked steak emerged from the kitchen. The entire table had finished with their meal at this time. Sitting there, eating my meal while the rest of the table was finished, was not my idea of good service.

Waiter was friendly, but service was slow. We were a party of 5 and some of our food came out cold (i.e. french fries) and some hot, so the service issue may be with the kitchen. We asked for rolls upon sitting down and only recieved them 5 mins before the food was coming out. It took a very long time for the food to come out (our overall dining experience lasted 2 hours and we did not linger as we had somewhere to be after). The shining light was that the food that came out hot was great and they took extra care with one of our guests who had multiple food allergies- which in the end makes cold french fries worth it. Highly recommend if you have food allergies.

Joe's American Grill on Newbury Street is a delicious find. We were greeted warmly when we arrived, and found our waiter to be friendly and professional. He knew the menu very well and guided us very capably and enthusiastically, so we all made excellent choices. The fall special menu with BBQ shrimp on polenta, Shepherd's pie, and bread pudding was outstanding. I ordered the warm buttery biscuits to capture every drop of the BBQ shrimp sauce. Sophisticated menu with great comfort food as well. We will be back!

I ordered the meatloaf, as I have occasionally in the past. What was delivered looked like meatloaf, but tasted strange, and had the consistency of Crisco. I couldn't eat it. For the first time in my life, I sent it back and ordered something else (which was good). The restaurant handled the situation well, and charged me only for the second meal. Stephanie's is a go-to restaurant for us, and we will certainly remain loyal customers, assuming this problem is the rare exception that I think it is.

  • What's the point of a reservation?
    OpenTable Diner Since 2013

I made a reservation for 3 people for 830pm Saturday night. Once we walked in promptly we gave them our information and the hostess said it would be a minute. 15 minutes later I inquired about what "a minute" exactly meant to them. They apologized and said they were just waiting for a table to leave. Another 15 minutes later we were seated. We then waited at the table for another 10 minutes for our server to come to the table. Overall, it seems like what is the point of making a reservation at a restaurant when I had to wait half hour to be seated. Not to mention that was the "wait time" the hostess was telling people who were coming in off the street.

My experience at Joe's was very good. Great service, and very flexible with my reservation as my guest was arriving from Logan and traffic was challenging. The wait staff was especially accommodating regarding food sensitivities. The menu was varied from basic comfort food to healthy options. I asked for a side of fruit instead of french fries with my eggs and they were very flexible. I would definitely recommend this for a group with varied likes.

We booked a table to ensure we got a seat on a Sunday evening. On arrival our table wasn't ready and we were handed a device that would buzz when our table became free. Countless couples and groups waiting escorted to their tables before us making it evident our booking meant nothing. Committed to eat here stuck it out to be taken to the smallest space and table we had ever had the pleasure of eating at. Our busy was attentive enough and our order was promptly taken. No sooner had we taken the first bite of our appetiser our main dish was plonked on the table. We asked for it to be served a bit later and were then kept waiting ages before finally being served Luke warm tasteless fare. If this is your thing then give them a visit.

We had family coming into town and it ended up being a party of 9. At 730pm I used Opened table to get 815pm reservations. They were so accommodating. The waiters were excellent bringing out multiple baskets of bread while we waited, always refilling our drinks, bringing out all our food at once. Our actual waiter even volunteered to take a picture of us. We are definitely coming back again.

Consigliato.

Having eaten here before, I thought it would be a safe place to take a picky eater, but sadly enough it didn't work. We ordered nachos to start, which were great, but the bottom half were so drenched in cheese sauces that they were too soggy to eat by the time we got to them. The food was rushed out before we were done with our appetizers. Unfortunately it was a fluke though because they brought my friend very undercooked meat. We had to flag down a bus boy to ask him to bring it back because our waiter never came to check on us. It then took them another 10 minutes to cook the meat again, but then they cooked it way over done. Needless to say we weren't too satisfied.

Lunch was a disappointment. We had burgers that were average and the crab cakes had too much bread. For being one of the places to get the "best crab cakes in Boston", it was pretty poor. The service was bad because of the attitude of the waiter. He kept clearing the table while we were eating and did not clean the table between the main course and dessert. Food came out in a timely manner but the attitude of the waiter made it less than pleasant. The greeters were very friendly and welcoming and the setting is terrific.

Lively spot in a very central location on bustling Newbury St, with nice indoor street-level space open to the sidewalk for taking in the passersby and enjoying brunch or burger or salad. Handsome, sports-themed downstairs dining room has a nice bar and open kitchen, and the space is lined with booths. We were four for brunch and had no complaints.
