  • "My Fiancé and I had an amazing dinner Saturday night for his Birthday. Our waiter Sayeed was very polite and helpful with providing us the Chef's special for the day and both of our meals were great. The only that that didn't happen was I added in my notes that it was my fiancés bday and if we could have dessert after our meal that says Happy B-Day on the plate, and that didn't happen. I don't think the message was given to our waiter from the receptionist that I talked to earlier. Everything else was fantastic!"

  • "My wife and I used to go to the old Joe Muer's on Gratiot and always loved the food, ambiance and service. However the new restaurant in th RenCen is not as quaint and the service was not as good. It was my wife's birthday and took her there to surprise her. At the time of reservation I told them it was her birthday and was again asked by server Josh if it was a special occasion to which I said yes her birthday. The service was quite slow between courses. I noticed at dessert time at the table next to us a birthday cake was delivered by Josh with a candle. After encouraging my wife to order cake it was just delivered without so much as a "happy birthday" and no candle."

  • "I went to Joe Muer's with my 16-year-old son who is a "foodie" and loves seafood in particular. I had the "Scallops al la Muer" appetizer before and thought he would love it. They did not disappoint. We should have ordered two of them because they are delicious with the unique scallops texture but with wonderful butter and wine flavor. He had the monkfish and I had the Branzino which were both light and wonderful dishes. Our waiter, Said, was wonderful -- attentive, friendly but not too intrusive, knowledgeable and genuinely happy to please us."

  • "The restaurant overlooks the Detroit River and the view was spectacular. The server was on point the whole time we were there....left nothing to ask for. The food was superb. Since this was our first time since Joe Muer reopened we were pleasantly surprised...we tried a little of everything. (Sushi, appetizers, soups, salad, main course, and of course the dessert.) Everything was amazing. We will Definitely be back again and again."

The Dover Sole a la Muniere was delightful and the Tuna cooked perfectly. Even though it was an extremely busy Saturday night the wait staff was very attentive, friendly but not overbearing."

  • "A lot of energy when we got there and the waitress did a lot of explaining of the menu and her favorite dishes. We were a bit overwhelmed with the menu and wine info, there is a large wine list by the bottle and very few by the glass. A lot of suggestive selling going on, some of it helpful. The gazpacho was very salty. The fish was very fresh and good, serving size was average. Service got slow as the dinner progressed. Allow 3 hours for dinner and dessert there. Good place for a special occasion, they did a nice job with a special birthday dessert. I won't be in a hurry to go back though"

  • "I am a professional chef that has worked in fine dining all over SE Michigan and up north, and I think this place is in the top five overall in the Metro Area. Service was wonderful, and the food was even better. The kitchen pumped the courses out with seamless timing, which is also a great credit to our server Saed. I hope I spelled his name correctly..... I was in the mood to take a very special person somewhere nice, and they delivered. Coach Insignia may have the million dollar views, but Joe Muer's is the "king of the Ren-Cen!!!!"

  • "Met a client there for dinner. Arrived a bit early, Julie behind the bar was very friendly and knowledgeable in regards to the wine. We had to push back the reservation a bit, hostess was very accomodative. Had the Barramundi........delicious. Enjoyed the view of the river, a great meal, and attentive service.   • "My husband and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary, and I picked Joe Muer's for dinner. The waiter treated us as if we were not worthy of the restaurant and rushed us through our meal. He seemed bothered by our existence. We were dressed for the occasion. The lobster bisque was exceptional and the crab/cheddar mashed potatoes almost made it worth the way the waiter treated us. My filet was overcooked. We had to ask for he dessert selections. Overall, our $150 dinner was worth a third of the price. I won't be rushing back. I don't appreciate being snubbed. I make the decision as to where the CEO I work for hosts lunches and dinners as well as private dining locations. Joe Muer's not only lost my business but his."

  • "We made reservations and were seated by the door and service station. The waitress introduced herself and left without taking the drink and appetizer order. The bread basket arrived with a Tbs of smoked fish pate and white beans. One entre was inedible. Bad fish!. After everyone had eaten we were asked if the food was good. NO! 1st the manager comes to explain the fish was fresh and I didn't understand the preparation. Next we are offered another entre after everyone has finished eating. Finally after being insulted that I don't know the difference between good and bad fish the entre was removed from our bill. I expected more from a $30-50 an entre restaurant."

  • "I had a 7:30 reservation and had arrived at 7:20. When I gave my name they heard it wrong and then I had to spell it. The hostess said that I was already seated. The other hostess had enough sense to seat me since there was only 3 other tables being used at the time. It took 20 minutes for a waiter to get to us and take our order. If not for the food and the guys going around filling the water glasses I would have left. When I ordered the waiter got the order wrong and later blamed the piano player for being to loud. The food was amazing but I would not want any one to have to suffer the same as I had on this occasion."

  • "We came here for a celebration dinner and usually had good experiences in the past. The waitress was unwelcoming and told us we couldn't order soups and salads as part of our appetizer order and would rather come back with the apps and drinks before she took that order, we said ok. After 35 minutes of waiting for our apps and drinks, we asked to see a manager. We told the manager how long we had been waiting and he quickly came back with the drinks and apps, only the appetizer order was wrong. We ate what he brought us anyway because we were tired of waiting. The waitress finally returned about 40 minutes later and apologized claiming she had to deal with a fire at another table? Nobody understood what that meant. All around bad service!!"

The filet ( served w/ the traditional surf & turf ) along with the 18 oz. Delmonico, are as good as any local chop house ( if not better!! ) Save room dessert as you would be sad to miss the coconut cake!"

  • "The best part of our dinner was Miguel. The matrede. He was wonderful and so proud of what he does and who he works for. I was honestly disappointed with the meal but I didn't want to ruin our day. I ordered the surf and turf. Med well on the turf and it was very well done. Tasty but for 70.00 it should have been superb! I was introduced to the Muer treat as a little girl and remember wonderful times including Chuck Josephs! Thank you for having such a wonderful host. I felt like a little princess just like when I was a little girl. It was nice to give my daughter a taste of that. It's not typically in my budget but I'm still glad I chose Muer again to share with my beautiful daughter."

  • "I made a reservation for a Riverview seat for my mothers birthday. No one called to confirm my reservation or tell me that there was a dress code to be in the dinning area. My brother had on gym shoes and they would like let us sit at the table I reserved. It was my moms birthday and we spent over $400 and the manager was no help. She informed me that someone should've call to remind me of the dress code, but there was no word of it on open table, joe muer website and no one called. I was very upset to spend my money there and not be accommodated."

  • "We had a group of eight with a 6:45 pm reservation, but because we didn't all know each other, we spent about 30 minutes in the bar getting acquainted (didn't mean to be rude but it just happened) and the staff never pushed us. When the hostess came by to see if we were ready to be seated, I felt bad that we had spent so much time ignoring our reservation time, but she was very gracious. Our waiter was excellent, with intimate knowledge of the menu. He was also very patient with our large group. He was also very attentive, refilling our wine frequently and checking to see if we needed anything. The food was excellent-we all cleaned our plates- and the view of the Canada across river just added to the overall great experience."
