  • "We had a great time at Joe Muer celebrating my husband's birthday. Food was delicious and as I requested on Open Table they brought dessert out with happy birthday written in chocolate while the pianist played happy birthday. Our server CJ was also very attentive charming and great at his job. I only wish our table was positioned more toward the view of the water. We off at an angle and couldn't see the Detroit river. I'm not sure if I needed to make that a request also but next time I will. Overall wonderful experience."

  • "Arrived for 6:30 reservations and requested specific table for 2 on the patio so we could overlook the waterfront & have a great view of the band America playing on the riverfront in front of the RenCen. We were told our table was occupied at the time and we could wait in the bar, no sooner had we sat at the bar the head waiter came over & told us he was clearing our table & he would be back to seat us in a few minutes. We were seated and had the best view of the waterfront & stage from our little 2 top table on the corner of the balcony. We had impeccable service all evening from our waiter. We dined & drank an array of Appetizers all evening, and each had a wonderful dessert to top off the night. Absolute perfection!"

Had the Delmonico which was very tasty but slighty over cooked and over sauced. Companion walleye was excellent. Desert very good. Drink over priced. Extensive wine list but did not partake. Overall OK but expected better."

  • "We celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary on Saturday and so glad we went to Joe Muer's. They made us feel welcome from the start and gave us a beautiful view of the riverfront. Our waitress Jacquelyn was friendly, funny and informative. She recommended drinks and food, which we were glad we followed. I had the Lamb Chops and my wife had the Filet and Lobster. So much food! For dessert we got the chocolate and peanut butter cake, and they beautifully decorated it to wish us Happy Anniversary. We will definitely be returning. Only minor thing was that there was a 50th surprise party nearby so it got loud at times, but nothing we couldn't ignore."

As a sole diner, I was here on business at the Renaissance Center and from the moment I stepped into the place, hospitality oozed from every service person I encountered the entire evening. The Maitre D' took special care by giving me a tour and the history this beautifully appointed restaurant on the river. A great piano player calmed my nerves. My waiter knew the menu, the specials and the wine list intimately. His knowledgeable recommendation for the fresh grouper(brought in at 3:00 p.m. today) served on top of fresh sautéed kale with bacon and with lobster reduction sauce and an earthy Pinot were spot on. Every time I am in town, I will return. Thank you for a great evening, Miguel and Tim!"

  • "Our night out at Joe Muer's was a great experience. We celebrated my mom's 76th birthday with great food and a wonderful view. All staff were very attentive and friendly. Three managers made their way to our table to chat and make sure everything was in order. The food was great (mussels, coleslaw, salmon, flounder). While it was not the same as the original Joe Muer's per my father, I thoroughly enjoyed the night. We'll be back for special occasions and maybe take a walk down the river front."

  • "The atmosphere and view were very nice. Service was great. The meal was not worth the price. I had the tiger shrimp dish. The shrimp was OK. Nothing special. The potatoes were dry and bland. My date had the special which was a salmon. It was better than my shrimp dish, but again not worth the 45 dollars. Overall a good experience, I would like to go back and try a more popular dish."

The only blip was that I had asked far in advance for a table overlooking the water, but they were unable to accommodate. That put a slight damper on the evening."

It was much larger inside than I expected and a little difficult to find once you're in the rencen if u park in the garage, so make sure to call ahead of time to find out which tower they are in. They might even have valet but we did not see it. Unlike many other upscale restaurants, there are many entrees to choose from. The truffle fries were amazing and the chocolate soufflé was the best dessert. Try to call and request a table by the window, it's a great view."

  • "What we ordered was NOT seasoned enough. Food was made for senior citizens. No flavor in the food. My girlfriend knows how to season and cook well she could do better than this.   • "The most wonderful meal I've had in a long time. Our server Ken was spot on with his recommendations. The atmosphere was very friendly and welcoming (not stuffy at all) and the service was amazing. My husband has not historically enjoyed seafood. However, he raved about the blackened tile fish and could not get enough of my monk fish. The only logical solution will be to plan another visit. Cocktails were also outstanding. Don't miss the clam chowder or coconut cake. Don't wait for a special occasion, because you should not miss this experience of exceptional dining"

  • "The tuna on the chalkboard menu was cooked to perfection. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the scallops and short ribs. The service was attentive and keenly aware of our desired pace for the meal. That alone is not something one can find "anywhere." I grew up with Joe Muer's being the place to go when celebrating significant achievements or milestone accomplishments. I am so happy to have this restaurant back and will continue to practice the long-term family tradition!"

  • "The bad: The only thumbs down I have for this place is the parking situation. Although availability wasn't an issue, convenience was; There are several options from a multitude of parking structures (ranging from $18 - $30) or valet (this was not an option for me). The Good: Overall the good outweighed the bad and I would return for a great meal, drinks, or ambiance. All rated a five on my scale! They have inside or patio dining options, pianist, great seafood selection, awesome chef, knowledgeable staff, and delicious desserts! What else could you ask for? Value for the $$$, one example would be making a difficult selection for type of soup that you want to kick off meal - They have a 3 soup 3 cup bowl - Why not, have them all!"

  • "I had been to Joe Muer previously and it became my favorite restaurant for special occasions. I took my two teenage sons on this visit and they loved it. We had calamari and lobster corn dogs (fabulous); and clam chowder. My one son had a lobster tail while the other had Fruits of the Sea. I had the Delmonico (cooked perfectly med-rare). We all had dessert (best carrot cake ever), key lime pie, and coconut cake. We cannot wait to return!"

The food was fabulous, the service attentive and fun (but not intrusive) and the dining area lovely and quite lively for a weekday evening.   • "This restaurant is in a very scenic spot. Easily accessible from the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel; great for us, as we were from Windsor. Parking close by. An upscale restaurant, which prices reflect, but food and service match. While not one in which I would frequent, it would be on my special occasions/'need to treat myself & friends' list. Although its prime fare is seafood, there is enough on the menu for everyone to appreciate, including those who do not favour seafood. The desserts! were exquisite. I really enjoyed my first visit at Joe Muer. Thank you."

  • "This is the first time I have been to the "new " Joe Muer's in the RenCen. I remember going to the original on Gratiot with my parents when I was a child. I work in the RenCen, and joined my partner & family to celebrate my 58th birthday, and it was still as I remembered it - top notch service, surroundings and food. Note: ask for a riverfront table when booking during the day/early evening - the view looking out over to Canada is beautiful. By the way, they still bring a dish of the marinated white beans to your table!"

  • "HFood was ok nothing special. Booth we were in was irritating because it was connected with. Booth behind us, constant knocking. Server was proficient but not warm or personable. We we're asked if wanted water. Pianist was a nice touch, but overplayed with heavy tones. Softer would have been more relaxing.Overall I would give the restaurant a B, our dining experience was good. I would recommend it only for special occasions not for taste in food."
