Diner Reviews
  • "Stopped in before the Jackson Browne concert at Peabody. Although it was a cardinals home game, it was crowded, but good still came out timely and it was all very good! Definately recommend the humus appetizer! Call ahead seating was the way to go! Table was ready as requested. Great dining experience. Service was slower than usual due to volume but server was apologetic and it did not deter the dining dining experience."

  • "Went to Joe Bucks for lunch prior to seeing the Cardinals play the Marlins on July 4th. Food was great, brisket and pulled pork had a lot of flavor. We sat in the bar area and the bartender was very friendly and gave us the voucher for parking. Since this was our first visit we did not know what to expect and we were very happy. We came back after the game to have another drink and something to eat since traffic was backed up and we wanted to wait it out. We sat at the bar again and the bartender came right up and said "two more Stella drafts"? He remembered us even tho he was working his butt off being the only bartender we saw behind the bar! We will definitely recommend Joe Bucks to our friends and return again next time in town."

  • "We have eaten at Joe Buck's several times and have always enjoyed it very much. The food is good and the ambience is very nice. Have always had good service from the staff. I would recommend the retaurant highly!"

  • "We had a business lunch for 10 recently in one of the private rooms. The service and food could not have been better. We had an early lunch and then walked to the ballpark for a Cardinals afternoon game. Can't ask for much more than that!"

  • "Good food, good service, and good location for dinner before the Cardinals game."

  • "Had dinner with 2 coworkers here before the ball game. Food was filling for the price. Definitely around 1/2 or lower than comparable meals at the stadium!"

  • "Bucks is always good. Unfortunately, they were so busy the service was slow and they ran out of certain foods even though we were there at 6:15. For instance, no turkey and no avocados on salads. I'll still be back. Just think they need to plan better for these busy nights."

  • "Another good meal at Joe Buck's before the Cardinals game. It was busy but they still had a few tables (besides our reserved table). Nearly everyone was going to the game. We had a wrap and a BBQ meat plate. Everything was good except the water had a "strange" taste. Drinkable but not exactly enjoyable. Otherwise, we had no complaints, and we'll probably choose it again before games. "

  • "The atmosphere was great and the perfect place to eat before the ball game. Close to the stadium was a real plus. "

  • "great! BBQ was very good as was the service. TV's everywhere to see ongoing games. Perfect for before or after heading to Busch or Scottrade."

  • "Very poor and apathetic service, minuscule portions. A huge disappointment. Never saw server/waitress again after food arrived, entire meal without drinks. "

  • "I ordered the "platter" because it was supposed to come with "more meat." I got three paper thin slices of brisket that would not cover a slice of bread. When I politely questioned this, I was ignored. Our party of four went through half of our meal without drinks before one of us walked into the kitchen and asked someone if we could get our own drinks. We never saw our waitress again until the check came. Our granddaughter's kid's meal came with ice cream which she patiently waited for for the entire meal, but only to be disappointed. Though we asked two employee's, no one would bring her ice cream. The place appears to be there just to rip off out of town baseball fans in the area."

  • "We took a couple of clients before the Cardinals game. Food was very good. Service was very good. Location is perfect for a pre-game dinner."

  • "My wife and daughters and I had a great meal at Joe Buck's recently. The BBQ was outstanding and the portions were just right. If and when we come back to St. Louis this is on my list."

  • "The restaurant is great for a pre-game meal or just a great sports atmosphere. But attention to our order detail was not too good. We had 4 in our order and 3 of our orders were incorrect. Not sure if the waiter was just not listening or what. He was attentive, just not correct in our orders. The food was good, not great. We had a reservation through Open Table and got a seat right away, even though it was packed. We didn't wait long for our food. Overall, it was a good time, I will just pay more attention to make sure the waiter takes our orders correctly."

  • "The food was surprisingly good. Service was far beyond excellent and the proximity to both the Scott Trade Center and Busch Stadium made it an excellent choice for a pre-game meal."

  • "I went here with a group of 10, the service is always pretty meh, but their Big Freeze dessert is one of my favorites in the city for big groups. Seriously, not even 10 of us could take down the whole thing after dinner. "

  • "The service was very good. The Macho Nachos appetizer was good. The pulled pork had a lot of fat. The cole slaw was not very good. The corn bread was not very good. I've eaten at Joe Buck's several times before and this was the only time that the food was only fair."

  • "We have been to this restaurant several times in the past. This experience was the worst by far. The food was very bland and dry. The service was not it's finest. For our beverages, I asked for a vodka and cranberry. Yes, I did receive a vodka and cranberry - the MOST EXPENSIVE vodka they had! I was floored when we received our bill. We will not visit this restaurant in the near future! Too expensive for what we received."

  • "We had a very good dining experience at joe bucks. It was a great fit with a night out going to the Blues game. The food was great and service very good. Using the opentable reservation online we only waited approx. 10 minutes to be seated on a very busy night before the blues game. I would recommend Joe Bucks for a great night out."

  • "It had been a while since we had been at this restaraunt. The food was below average. It felt very chain restaraunt like. I ordered the sweet potato fries as a side and what came were cold hard pieces of yuk. Asked the server and they brought fresh ones. They seem to have a hard time when they are busy. Would not recommend."

  • "Service was excellent and the food was cooked to perfection. My favorite place for BBQ in the downtown."
    Dined on 3/27/2014
  • "Service was average at best. Food was good. Parking was odd. Back of the restaurant appeared to have a parking lot for patrons. However, once you were in the lot, you couldn't get out without paying (or voucher from restaurant) and almost EVERY spot was permanent reserved."

  • "My wife and I decided that rather than filling up on junk food at the stadium, we would instead head downtown early and find a better restaurant to try and hopefully get a better selection of food options. We had been to J Bucks in Clayton before and the menus online looked very similar. The downtown location has a slightly less fancy appearance than Clayton, but the food was pretty much the same, which is pretty good. I had BBQ and my wife had a sandwich. We were glad we made reservations through Open Table, because as we got closer to the game time, the place really filled up."

  • "Pulled pork and brisket was only warm when served. Cornbread was stale. Service was just OK considering the place was empty. There has got to be better barbecue places in St Louis than Joe Bucks."

  • "I heard great things about this place and it just didn't live up to my expectations. The place was slow three of us and one larger group. I though for sure we would get good service with the please so slow. I was wrong the waiter was less then attentive took forever to take our order. Once our order was placed it took forever for the food to come and when it finally came my friend food nachos was cold they forgot her salad they forgot my husbands salad we sent back the nachos they came back cold again . We had no drinks most of our meal. I won't ever go here again."

  • "My wife and I had dinner at Joe Buck's for Valentine's Day. The food was very good, the servive was good, but its a restaurant more apprpriate for a pre or post baseball game meal than a romantic evening. All in all I would gladly go back - just not for Valentine's."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "We grabbed a quick bite here before going to a concert on Valentine's Day. The restaurant was pretty empty, so I expected better food service. I ordered a turkey burger and it was decent but the fries were cold as ice. The white wine I ordered was also delivered at room temperature, which made the experience kind of mediocre."

  • "Went to Joe Bucks before Blue's hockey game and the food and service were excellent. Great place and I would recommend for dinner anytime!"

  • "Great sports atmosphere prior to going to a game, service needs to be improved. We indicated on our reservations we were going to the Blues game at 7 and told our waitress as well; but our table was not ready on time and it took a long time to receive our orders. Our waitress brought the wrong salad and the wrong side. The food tasted really good, but I had to send my ribs back to get re-heated. One would think a big sports restaurant would be staffed accordingly prior to sports events and realize their patrons would like to get to the game on time. We went their prior to World Series Game 3 and had great & timely service and a delicious meal."

  • "Went to Buck's for dinner before Blues game with two grandsons (4 & 7). Seated promptly, server was there immediately. Orders placed, and drinks & appetizer delivered promptly. Then waited more than 30 minutes for meals to arrive. Server was excellent, kept checking on us and apologizing for lack of food. Finally got meals, which were fine, but had to rush to eat in order to get to game. Buck's is still a good place for before and after event meals and drinks, but management needs to better gear up kitchen for the expected pre-game surge."

  • "The sweet potato fries were outstanding. The filet was prepared perfectly. The spicey BBQ sauce was excellent. The side dish of mac and cheese was huge and there was a good selection of beers on draft. Service was prompt and we made it to the hockey game with time to spare."

  • "Good food! However, I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and received a chicken salad sandwich! Otherwise it was a great experience!?"

  • "We had to wait at least 15 minutes before a waiter served us. He did bring us our meals quickly however. The food was fair. After we left I noticed that we had been double charged for our meal. When my wife called about the charges they said it would take them 4 days to put the charge back on our account."
