Diner Reviews
  • "Returned to this restaurant for dinner before a concert at the ACC. Can always depend on prompt and courteous service and great food."

  • "Went here before a ball game. Large location, food was good, service was very good, wine list is okay. They ask if you are going to the game so it gets the food out quicker. Would go back but, probably not on a game night."

  • "I've dined here many times but it has been a few months since my last visit. The food is consistently good. I wish the menu had a bit more variety. Would definitely recommend; especially if you have a show or game to attend. They are very accommodating."

  • "I think what shocked me the most was the $14 for a kids meal. And what pasta restaraunt doesn't even offer garlic bread when you're having $20 pasta? The atmosphere was good, the location is good, the food was okay not what I thought when order was placed. Service was good, very rushed at times, but very nice. Overall it was just okay. They really need to work on that kids menu pricing!"

  • "Went for the 2014 summerlicious dinner. Food was neet and different and the menu was a good price (25$). The food itself was fine, we didn't have any problems with it. But the service was not good at all. The server took forever bringing paid drinks (Ice tea) and we had to request water from a different server passing by, and didn't offer refills on iver at all. Summerlicious is a three part set menu and they were a little slow bringing the different dishes."

  • "Italian food is spiced with herbs; pepper is only used in meat and this is usually optional. A combination of ingredients and bad cooking process gave me the heartburn."

  • "The waiter ' Stan' was among the best, most Professional that I have ever seen. Very friendly and knowledgeable. The food was excellent and definitely a place I will return several times. Such taste. Very well presented and prepared. Obviously great teamwork to bring the food to the table. Thank you so much for the excellent experience."

  • "I have been here several times in the past. I have always had a good experience. Unfortunately my most recent visit did not live up to expectations. There was a limited menu and no substitutions as it was busy. So I ended up ordering a satisfactory pasta dish but was not really worth the price. My daughter was happy with hers, it was tasty. I had to ask for bread, and the serving was very skimpy. Calamari portion was large but mediocre in quality. The worst part was the seating. I had reservations and was seated right in front of the open kitchen. Terrible. I have never sat in the back section, and never would again. I felt I was eating my dinner in a restaurant kitchen. I get the open concept, but this was too open."

  • "Our waitress was pleasant but got overwhelmed by her section. She knew we had a function later in the night and promised to dine us speedily, but then the dinner rush was too much for the wait staff to handle. We must have been served by 5 different employees when they noticed we were waiting for our next course. The meal was delicious and fun so waiting was not a huge issue for us. We made it out with a few minutes to spare and the summerlicious meal experience took 2 hours from entry to exit."

  • "Friendly staff. Varied menu. Huge restaurant. Very noisy. Due to the open kitchen, pizza ovens and buffet it was very hot inside. Food was good. Close to ACC"

  • "The salmon salad wrap was awful. The cocktails were over priced and the service was slow"

  • "Overall I had a great experience here. Service was fantastic (he was Italian so it made the experience even better). Food was tasty, wasn't unreal but simple and nice and great for the price."

  • "Had the ravioli di zucca (housemade butternut ravioli) and added Italian sausage. Was absolutely delicious... couldn't finish it... was great as lunch leftovers the next day."

  • "We were in town and booked because they were part of summerlicious in Toronto. Three of us had the steak and one was nervy. My mate had the shrimp pasta and thought it was good. I ordered an Aperol spritz - not that good. The desserts for Summerlicious were pretty limited (watermelon and mint salad is good but whipped cream on top? Gross). Keep it simple"

  • "group of 3 for summerlicious. table was ready for us with the summerlicious menu already out along with the other menus. service was mostly very good but with odd timing. everyone was pleasant and helpful, but sometimes 3 people would be by to check on us within 2 or 3 minutes while there were also gaps where we wondered if/when the next course was coming. the food, once served, was excellent. we all particularly enjoyed the roasted cauliflower soup dressed with basil pesto and with a fresh shaving of romano at the table. All of the parts of the experience were fine, but the service could be smoothed out."
    Dined on 7/8/2014
  • "The ravioli with the stuffed duck is a bit too mashed. The seafood mix spaghetti was very good. We were there for summerlicious dinner."
    Dined on 7/4/2014
  • "The food was very good and they have gluten free, the prices are reasonable and the service was also very good, but the temperature in the restaurant made dinner an uncomfortable experience. It was an extremely hot evening and it seemed there was no air conditioning. Otherwise, I would highly recommend this restaurant. The ambience would have been fine, if the temperature had been normal. Good location and great value all round."

  • "Good food BUT lack of A/C made for a less than enjoyable experience. Not our first negative experience here. One of these days ir will be our last!"

  • "We had tickets to a show and knew downtown would be busy. Made a reservation and had the buffet. Excellent choice, great food and service. Definitely would go back again and again."

  • "I love the concept of special food promotions like the Beet Special. I love beets so would have liked to have more on my salad. It did not really do the Beet Bonanza idea justice. Promoting Canadian local produce, whether vegetables, fruits, beef or cheeses would be very much appreciated!"

  • "We had a wonderful evening and dinner at Joe Badali's. Great food, great service, knowledgeable staff, comfortable. We were treated like special guests. Thank you!"

  • "Great food and service--calamari, tiramisu, chicken parmagiano--all recommended. A table at the front will be really noisy--there's a television in the bar that will blare over your conversation. Much nicer at the back, but the music during dinner was still too loud and it's hard to hear yourselves talk. A good place to go before a concert, but not a restaurant to choose for an intimate night. Even with a foursome, it's tough to carry on a conversation. It's considerably calmer for lunch."

  • "Always thought this restaurant was a tourist venue, but we've now been here a few times before theatre & sporting events, & have found food & service to be consistently good. They don't rush you but get you out in time for your show."

  • "I live outside Toronto but everytime I return I always make sure I go to Joe Badali's. Great food. Never had a bad meal."

  • "This restaurant is our choice for birthday celebrations. We were mildly disappointed on this occasion that there was a restricted menu and a buffet as a result if a concert at the Acc but the food we had turned out to be delicious. We like to sit at the front of the restaurant where it is more intimate. They accommodated our party of 8. We had some choosy eaters who were also given additional options. We all agreed the food was wonderful. The wine selection is very good but expensive. They are great at dealing with allergies."

  • "Buffet was uninspiring and many dishes were luke-warm. Not many healthy selections. I wouldn't go back."
    Dined on 3/9/2014
  • "We absolutely loved the insalata sana and the penne pollo aglio olio! The bread was plentiful and warm which was good because the kitchen was backed up due to the number of patrons attending the concert that evening."

  • "Two friends and I ate here on the evening of February 26, 2013, the night that we were going to the King's of Leon concert at the Air Canada Centre. We were seated at the back of the restaurant at a table where a wooden partition had been placed between two halves of a larger table. Strange. Our server was unenthusiastic and very slow to serve us. She got my friend's order incorrect and I heard another table claim they hadn't received their soup. Not once did she come to check on us after our meals were served by other staff. She was slow to bring us the bill even after asking us if we wanted coffee/tea/dessert. The food was very tasty and the wine to expectations. I would eat there on a slow night as they can't handle volume."

  • "My caprese pizza was awful and the music was far too loud. It interfered with our conversation."
    Dined on 2/21/2014
  • "Food was tasty and well presented, good portion sizes, but service was very slow, especially given that it wasn't that busy, and that left a bad impression on my guests and I. Have been other times though and didn't have this problem so hopefully it was just a fluke."
    Dined on 2/20/2014
  • "Food wasn't very good. Pasta over cooked. Red sauce was bland. Not very good Italian food at all."
    Dined on 2/8/2014
  • "Food was good. Had a Caesar salad to start, wild boar lasagna for my main and a pear tartlet for dessert. We were there early and the foods came with little wait."

  • "We have dined here many times and have never been disappointed. It is so convenient to the Conferences and Concerts at ACC. Waiters are great and the food is excellent. I love being able to make on line reservations for Open Table Thanks Connie and Honey Belleville On"

  • "These days it is hard to find a restaurant that has both - if the food is great, the service tends to be subpar (and vice-versa). Joe Badali's gave us the best of both. Everything from the appetizers, to the main course was fantastic! The staff are so friendly, you would think you had known them for years. Will be returning here again!"

  • "I returned with a group of co-workers (we were 8) all visiting Toronto. The bar had a group function going on and was packed. We were seated (ahead of schedule which was appreciated) and had a table in an out of the way corner that was great. Our server, Mitch, did an excellent job of making our evening enjoyable and seeing that we never wanted for anything. The food is always good (the squash soup special was amazing!) and the prices very reasonable for the quality and experience. We all had a very enjoyable evening! We'll be back again."

  • "From the welcome at the door, through the service and food and farewell, it was another pleasurable dining experience. Good selection of beer and wine. Great appetizers (the arancini and the grilled calamari are highly recommended!). Friend had the veal, scraped plate implies it was good. I had the halibut which was a bit salty but the fennel risotto was quite nice. Wrap up with a slice of flourless chocolate cake, and you're done! The dessert menu does leave a bit to be desired. Also, be sure to make a reservation, it gets busy!"

  • "We have been to Joe Badali's place many times and never have been disappointed. The food is the greatest and the service is usually good. My fish and my wife's salad were very much appreciated and enjoyed. We will return soon."
