I'd been meaning to try this place for a while, and i'm glad I finally did. There were 4 of us & we started with a drink at the bar, near the fireplace...easily could have stayed there all night. Our table was a little cramped, what are you gonna do, but not as bad as some places nearby. We had a squash soup that was kinda tasteless; Brussels sprouts salad, very nice, then I had squid ink pasta with scallops which I enjoyed. Portions aren't huge, which is fine, prices not bad for that area...mostly I appreciated that for a Friday night at 6 it wasn't crazy loud.

Joanne's serves tasty Italian food in a pleasant setting. The waiters are extraordinarily fine. The tab is reasonable in relation to the high quality of the food. The only feature of the restaurant that needs improvement, in my opinion, is the below-par wines offered by the glass.

  • Great Food If You Have The Time To Wait

We booked a table for 11:45 a.m., for Sunday brunch. The dining room was about half full. It took over an hour for our two meals (a fritatta and scrambled eggs with sausage) to arrive. Our waiter appeared to be the only one working in the dining room and he apologized for the long wait. He was very nice and thanked us for not being unpleasant to him. I think the problem really was in the kitchen. The food was good, the atmosphere was pleasant but an hour's wait for simple food at a time when the dining room is only half full doesn't seem justified. We would go again, probably for dinner, to see if this long wait was just a fluke but, if not, the food wasn't good enough to warrant waiting an hour for it.

  • Not for the Hungry!

At first, prices appear deceptively reasonable at this noisy trattoria but gouging due to location is quickly apparent. Although food preparation is adequate, value is poor & service perfunctory at best. A salad for $12 was very small & not enough to share & a main course at $24 included only a small serving of fish & about 6 string beans. Bread consisted of 3 small half slices for 2 people; nothing else was offered including olive oil. Other nearby restaurants offer more food of similar quality for significantly less cost when the extras (e.g., complimentary bread, olives, tapenade, vegetables) are factored in. Don't go to Joanne's if you're hungry or want to have a conversation.

I found this place while looking for restaurants around the Lincoln Center Movie Theater. The staff was extremely friendly, food was delicious, and the decor was warm and cozy. My husband and I really enjoyed ourselves! The wrong entree came out for my husband so they offered dessert on the house! It was unnecessary but appreciated.

I must admit that the initial reason for wanting to go to Joanne was because of the association with Lady GaGa, but it was honestly one of the best dining experience that i've ever had. The service is so friendly, which doesn't always happen in NYC, the food was great and they are very accommodating to special requests. We will definitely be back!

I enjoyed my recent visit to Joanne Trattoria. The wait staff was very accommodating and professional and the food was enjoyable. I particularly enjoyed the chopped salad we shared. I was a little disappointed with my entree, though (Pizza Margarita). The pizza could have had a lot more flavor (made with tomato sauce rather than sliced tomatoes) and I would have preferred the basil on top to be fresh rather than dried flakes. It was also rather heavy on the cheese, which made it seem more like a tomato cheese pizza rather than a Pizza Margarita. However, our dinner over all was very pleasant - a nice date night out!

I thought I'd try something new in the Lincoln Center area and all six of us agreed that this was a great choice. Joanne's meatballs appetizer was delicious, as was the macaroni and cheese with shrimp and scallops -- spectacular [loaded with calories, LOL!] Others enjoyed the special salmon, chicken dishes, chicken parmigiana etc. Everyone was so full that nobody ordered dessert. Big portions, plenty of wine. The special cocktails for 17 dollars may not be so great, however. Very pleasant and efficient waitstaff. Place gets quite crowded but the noise level is never too bad. Very glad we went here and will definitelky go again!

Pre NYCB dinner. Many choices, a few specials also priced above most menu items. Shared a Caesar salad , came in bowl, not divided, used our bread plates and forks to divide.. Unremarkable as was the bread and butter in foil pats. Had to track down a server(they were running all over except when you needed something!) for fresh ground pepper. Had a chopped clam pie, didn't realize it would have red sauce..okay. Friend said her fish special was okay also but not worth the higher price. First choice for wine, a Joanne Prestiage, Premium? separate smaller list of about 6 wines, not available. Lady Gaga singing with Tony Bennett was nice background to dinner...

Joanne Trattoria was a solid neighborhood Italian restaurant. The menu consisted of classic Italian-American, red sauce classics. The food was good but not great. Calamari appetizer was a standout, as was Papa G's chicken entree. Pizza had a weird crust. Pasta was a little overdone for my taste. Service was friendly but not at all polished.

The main reason we went here was because this restaurant is owned by Lady Gaga's father and named after her late aunt Joanne. The food is your typical home cooked Italian fare. I had the Chicken Parmesan and my partner the Pasta Bolognese. The red sauce is very good. The Bolognese is outstanding! I found that the Chicken was a little on the dry side, perhaps pounded out a little too thin?. The portions were more than generous and the prices were very reasonable considering this is a New York City restaurant. We had the GAGA Pinot Noir and surprisingly it was very good as well. Sadly there were no sightings of Lady Gaga on the night we were there but were serenaded by her new CD with Tony Bennett 'Cheek to Cheek'. We will be back.

My first visit to Joanne's, shortly after it opened, we pretty disappointing. I'd heard they upped their game and there were a couple good reviews so I decided to give it a second shot. If anything, it was not as good as the first time. The food has all the flare of Chef Boyardee cooking at a country club. While not inedible exactly, it's pretty much tasteless gullet-filling fare that would embarrass Olive Garden. The space is very cozy and the location is great. It's too bad the food doesn't measure up.

It never fails that Joanne Trattoria has the best food. Whether it is the calamari appetizer or the chicken parmesan with homemade noodles for a main course you'll always leave feeling full but wanting more. Just when you think the best is done they bring out their desserts (all but the red velvet were made in house)! Each week the chef makes his own frozen treats that can only be had in the restaurant.

We went for dinner and were seated at a lousy table by a very pleasant host. Service was competent but lackluster. The free bread was stale and tasteless so we ordered foccaccia that was even worse, tasteless and undercooked. The salads were uninspired, often consisting of 2 ingredients only, e.g., lettuce and tomato. My wife's broccoli rabe was sitting in a pool of oil. But the highlights of the meal was the delicious sausage (hot and sweet) and the sauce covering the lasagna, which was plentiful. We ended with cappuccino, which was hot and frothy, a treat. We won't be back despite the strong few dishes on the menu.

I thought the restaurant was not very profesionally operated. We had to ask for bread and it was was 2 slices on a saucer. My chicken parmagione was dry and the edges of the chicken were burnt black. The sauce was horrible. The kind you would find in a cheap brand in a super market. My ceaser salad contained 3 or 4 anchovies just sitting there in the salad. The prices were very high for what we got and frankly I|ve had better meals at my local diner.

Good reasonably priced restaurant near Lincoln Center. Eggplant "meatballs" as an appetizer were very tasty and light. Buffalo mozzarella and tomatoes was another good appetizer. Husband liked the special of squid ink pasta with seafood. Chicken Milanese with arugula was fine but nothing special. Overall, good value before a performance at Lincoln Center. Wines/drinks seemed relatively higher priced than the food.
