A word from JJ Astor
Welcome to JJ Astor (located on the 16th floor of the Radisson Hotel Duluth), where guests enjoy welcoming service, inspired décor, modern approachability, unparalleled views, and signature dishes.
We have created a contemporary menu utilizing sustainable produce from local farmers and fresh fish from local fishermen.

Whether settling into the oversized armchairs in the lounge, or admiring the view from the inviting sofa style banquettes, the restaurant provides a memorable dining experience for locals and visitors alike.

Authentic portraits, blueprints, and photography from Duluth’s past adorn the teak panels located throughout the restaurant. While the most stunning view is undoubtedly the view of Lake Superior, the interiors also paint a captivating picture of their own.

Diner Reviews
  • "I couldn't have been happier with our dining experience. My boyfriend and I had our two girls with us - ages 6 and 8. I was a little nervous about having them in a classy restaurant, but our waitress, Candice, was amazing. She made them happy and comfortable right from the get-go. She totally changed the mood and the impending anxiousness of the little ones. They did great and we all enjoyed the delicious dinner and the beautiful view. Food was also very reasonably priced. Our hostess Shelby was wonderful as well. We can't wait to go back!"

  • "My girlfriends and I went there to celebrate a Birthday. Tracey was our server and was very knowledgeable about the food they were serving. We all took her recommendations and enjoy the food so very much. Pork, meatloaf, and prime rib was excellent. Desert was prefect of course! The hotel needs updating badly which of course includes the restaurant. Outside windows need cleaning but the big black spiders and their thousands of babies on all the window pane made for an entertaining evening. Good scrubbing an update would make the place 5 stars for sure!"

  • "This restaurant has very good food. It is a great example of good food. The 360 degree view is great and amazing. It is a wonderful way to experience Duluth and all it has to offer."

  • "My girlfriend and I wanted a great view of duluth and good food which we got and were impressed with at jj astor. The only negative which took away from our experience was there was an intoxicated lady there with her friend who was extremely loud and vulgur. She was talking about very morbid things and was quite disturbing. We were dressed very nicely and they were in sweats and jeans. If u want to be a top notch restaurant, they may want to invoke a dress code, or address customers who unfortanately are taking away from the what would have been a great experience."

  • "Had a very nice dinner. Relaxing dinner for 2. Good views over the city and Lake Superior. Food was excellent. I would recommend to all my friends."

  • "The food was great, especially the scallops and fries on the appetizer menu! The revolving restaurant provided a great view of the whole town of Duluth and harbor!"

  • "It takes a little over one hour for the restaurant to revolve 360 degrees. The views are quite breathtaking."

  • "Disappointed with all dishes except the salad. Awesome views, inedible veggie side dish, excellent fingerling potatoes, poorly prepared chicken and salmon. Server was overworked and noticeably stressed, but remained pleasant though very rushed. It is a shame this wonderful location is wasted with unacceptable restaurant experience."

  • "I went to JJ Astor with my sister and dad on a recent visit to Duluth. We had the bruschetta as an appetizer and it was delicious- the tomatoes were ripe and juicy. For the entrees my sister had the surf and turf, my dad had the chicken, and I had the pecan crusted walleye. The steak was perfectly done and the chicken was moist. The walleye is a different story. It was flavorless and the pecan crust was burned across the entire fish. I expecting a better meal for the price. JJ Astor is definitely a place where you need to know what to order."

  • "I love the old school rotating restaurant concept, and was happy to find one in Duluth during a recent visit. The scenery was awesome and the rotation speed was perfect. The food was really good and the service was excellent!"

  • "My wife and I planned to close out our weekend getaway with a nice quiet dinner. When we arrived (830pm) there was plenty of open seating. After a while we realized it was kind of cold. The food was acceptable from what we ate. Just when our food was served a group of about 9 people who had been drinking quite a bit arrived. There were very loud and obnoxious. Now I am all for having a great time, but please not next to me when I want a quite evening with my wife. After about 5 minutes we left. We did not even eat 10% of our meal. The loud group was just too much. I will not be returning to this restaurant, nor would I recommend it to those desiring a quite evening."

  • "It is a very nice restaurant, but it could be a great restaurant. We went there for lunch, because my wife had 2 bad previous experiences at the restaurant. I had not been to it yet and wanted to check out the view. I had checked the menu online before we went and there was a few good choices, but it was a very small menu. Our server was good, he seemed a little nervous and new, but we where eating lunch. I would go back to the restaurant, but only for lunch. There are better restaurants for dinner in the area."

  • "To begin the experience, you walk into the first floor of the Radisson hotel and get a nice smell of sewer gas. Take a rickety elevator up to the restaurant. We were seated promptly. The waitress took our order. Our food came out to us cold. My scrambled eggs were runny and burnt at the same time. The potatoes were bland and under cooked. After bringing our food the waitress disappeared and did not come back till we were almost done. After my wife ordered a ( what I feel is way over-priced at $9.00) Mimosa, the waitress promptly returned with the check. I expect poor service and bad food at times in a crowded restaurant, but not when we are one of three groups that are there."

  • "Our waitress was just ok, she seemed in a rush to get our order. Never refilled our water and never asked if I wanted a coffee refill. She just was lacking in personality!!!!!! The food was very good & the view was spectacular!"

  • "The food was pretty good but the atmosphere was lacking. We went to have a romantic dinner for our anniversary and the kids and other patrons were quite loud. The server talked a little too much while we were trying to eat our dinner. He was very friendly and out going just a bit much. I would recommend going later in the evening if you want something quiet and romantic we got there about 7pm. It was not what I expected from the pictures and the food was severely over priced for what appeared to be more of a family atmosphere. I was very disappointed in the wine selection for what I thought was supposed to be an upscale restaurant."

  • "We had a group of nine, and only two people were satisfied with their meals. The best things on the table were the duck fries, which were very good, and the mashed potatoes. We were very disappointed with the duck, the ribeye, the meatloaf, and the margarita pizza. The price for the quality of food was too high. The potatoes were undercooked in the clam chowder, the ribeye was tough and not flavorful as most ribeyes should be. The filet mignon was good, desserts were good. I would not return to this restaurant."

  • "We were in town to run our first Grandma's Marathon. We were staying in the Radisson hotel so we thought it would be convenient to eat at JJ Astor (located on the top floor). The restaurant floor resolves giving you a beautiful view of Downtown Duluth. The scenery is quite nice. We had the bruschetta appetizer and one of their mixed salads. These were both delicious. However, for our main entree, we had the chicken florentine pasta special with fettuccine that was added to the menu specifically for the runners. We wanted to carb up the night before the race and this dish was just way too creamy. Too much sauce and too little pasta. The service was fine. The restaurant seemed high quality but wasn't the best place to eat before a big race."

  • "I was there with my 97 year old friend who had been wanting to dine here for quite awhile and we finally made it. He had dined here years ago with his wife for a Denfeld class reunion. He used to be a 2nd or 3rd officer on many ships, and he grew up in West Duluth, so he very much enjoyed the view from each angle as the restaurant turned as we dined. We both had the Walleye sandwich, which was delicious. And the staff was very attentive and helpful throughout our visit!! They went out of their way to make our visit very enjoyable. Will definately return here often."

  • "We celebrated a graduation with beautiful starters, drinks, dinners and desserts. The food was spectacular and the atmosphere was so beautiful. Our servers were fun and friendly. They knew about all the food and drinks and answered our questions and helped us order just what we really wanted and enjoyed. It was a special celebration and was well worth the expense. thank you to all your staff"

  • "The food was great and the view was even better - spinning around to see downtown Duluth at night was super cool and the girlfriend thought it was quite romantic. While we went there for a special occasion, and as such dressed up very nicely, it was unpleasant seeing families bring children wearing jeans. For the price and what not, you think they would have a dress code. OTher than that, top notch."

  • "We were lucky to score a last minute reservation for six people during our recent DFL convention. The restaurant was very busy but took good care of our group of six, especially in the . Food was wonderful. Watching the view as it changed from dense fog to clear sky while the restaurant rotated made for extra entertainment."

  • "The last two times we have eaten at JJ Astor we have been treated to spectacular views of Lake Superior and the Duluth Harbor. The first night was a spectacular full moon and the other night a 1000 foot ship sliding into the ship canal at twilight. Couple that with great food and service, it was a very pleasant evening."

  • "I took my mother here for her birthday. The skies cleared just in time for us to enjoy the beautiful revolving views of the city. The food was good but my mom's pasta had way too much cream in it so it appeared soupy. My walleyed fish was delicious. Our server (Dawn) was fabulous. "

  • "A terrible disappointment. While having the most spectacular views in the city, The rest disappointed on every level. It feels like a tired, old supper club, with an unimaginative overpriced ala carte menu and very limited selection. I had the Ribeye, for $34. It was soggy, tough, and flavorless. It was a tired old retired dairy cow, not premium beef. It was prepared medium, but had that gray, I've been frozen, center. For the poor quality, it should have been hidden under a flavorful sauce. The carrots were drown in butter, and the puréed potatoes were greasy and garlicky. My husbands meatloaf was flavorful, but overpriced. Overall, a travesty. The potential for this place is unlimited, and it's squandered on no creativity at all. Avoid!!!"

  • "We came for brunch last month and liked it so much we returned this weekend to treat a guest. The views are wonderful, the interior spacious and pleasing. The plentiful, well prepared and attractively presented food was courteously and promptly served, the coffee excellent, and the prices reasonable. We will definitely go back."

  • "Our server Candice was fantastic. The view was great. The food was excellent. I had the fillet and my wife had the pork tenderloin. Both were excellent quality and great flavors. Loved the potato puree and the green bean side dishes. The blackberry salad, which we shared, was also excellent. Really an overall great experience. The price is not cheap, but it is very on par for a restaurant of this quality."

  • "The food was out of this world, every morsel, every crumb, every bite was heaven in your mouth! From the first course to the last course and the bottle of fine wine we shared, everything was spectacular! The service definitely will also make me come back! Our waiter, Jermey was phenomenal! Cared for us to every need and always made sure everything was perfect, without making you feel rushed or crowed! So to that, Jermey, well done! Long story short, J.J. Astor's is definitely worth the money, the visit and the time to experience its 5 star excellence!"
