Diner Reviews
  • "We love coming to Jimmy's. Today we had the Maryland Crab Soup, crab cakes and broiled salmon. The soup is outstanding...some of the best you will find in Maryland. And the crab cakes were the best we've ever had--and we're from Annapolis. Nothing there compares. The wild salmon was also very well prepared. We'll be back. Although not in the best area of Baltimore, the food makes up for the location."

  • "Friendly atmosphere- good wait staff- summer menu good, not great- it is much much too loud- very difficult to talk with table partners at table for four"

  • "When one desires to experience the true and real flavor of Baltimore crabs a visit to Jimmy's is mandatory!!! Truly one of America's finest examples of great eating."

  • "When I have guest from out of town, I take them to Jimmy's for some good seafood or not. Many have enjoyed the steaks and some of the pasta dishes....BRAVO AGAIN!"

  • "This quick gem is located only minutes from the tunnel and is so worth the $4 coming and going. Although the cocktail wasn't as strong as it ought to have been, the food more than made up for it. The seafood was fresh and cooked to perfection."

  • "I live in center city Philly, Sunday nice day to take a ride. 2 hours away was JIMMYS in Baltimore..we went for lunch. Crab cake is their #1 menu item so of course that is what I had. It was outstanding..loaded w/crab meet hardly any filler. Home made cole slaw & it was a meal that kept you full past dinner time. My friend had the po boy..very tasty, not exactly New Orleans..but good. Chowder he said was excellent! Beat any crab cake I ever had in Philly or NJ. Wish it was located closer to Phila."

  • "First tried Jimmy's a few years ago. Thoroughly enjoyed the food - the experience was good. This last trip is going to be just that - the last. Food was fair (seafood alfredo with so many huge scallops, the crabmeat(?) was truly lost, the imperial was fair and the dessert was dry). The waitstaff was pretty good, at least. The worst thing was having to speak loud to be heard above the awful noise in the dining room. Since we haven't tried the crabs in the back - I can't say anything about that part of the restaurant."

  • "Not worth reviewing! Said it all in my ratings. Not to worry, there won't be a return visit!"

  • "We always take out of town guests to Jimmy's so they can experience the wonder that is crab eating! This time, despite talking to an employee over the phone alerting him to the fact we wanted to eat crabs, we were seated in the main dining room where you are not allowed to eat crabs. Very disappointing. We ended up spending WAY more money than planned due to needing to buy entrees for dinner... That being said, we had their crab cakes for the first time and they are fantastic. All lump and practically zero filler. Despite not being able to pick crabs we had a great time and will go back again."

  • "The food was very great! I would recommend this place to anyone! I will be going back again! The menu has so many things to choose from And my server was very attentive ! I give this restaurant 5 stars ! I Made a reservation and only had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated ! Great staff !"

  • "We were happy to leave the bustling, Pricey Inner Harbor for something a little different. We were one of only a few tables not eating crabs, - the menu offered so many options. None of them dissappointed. My picky 16 year old ordered the Pasta with Seafood. Every bite was another suprise, with large scallops, jumbo lobster chunks, he'll never go back to our pricy Country Club version of the same entree. We cautiously ordered few Sushi rolls from the back of the menu. Aaaamazing! Best Sushi rolls I've ever tasted. Been eating Sushi since the 80's. The rice temp and the freshness and creativity will becon us back. Crab Cake 2nd Best I've ever tasted. Great for families or large parties. Quick service, Attentive Staff. Not fancy!"

  • "We were visiting Bsltimore for the weekend and were referred by some local friends. We wanted maryland crabs. Our reservation was for 845. We arrived early and we weren't seated until almost 930. Then the crabs... They were out of all sizes except "mediums." However, The mediums were actually babies! Good flavor but they were the Smallest crabs I've ever eaten! We complained to no avail. Bottom line- very disappointing. I would not recommend it. Also the crowd on a Saturday was very rough. Not a great place to take the kids!"

  • "We love Jimmy's for so many reasons, but the one today that brought us in is it is close enough to the house, and we can walk there. I don't drink when I'm driving, so this way I can enjoy an adult beverage and not endanger anyone else's life. We had the mixed grill, and the lamb chops and crab cake were absolutely delicious! We're never disappointed by the quality of the meal at Jimmy's!"

  • "There are two rooms. A front room that is for "non crabs" and a back room for pounding steamed crabs that come in a bucket. The front room was very noisy. Not good for my mother who has poor hearing. The waitress did not want to move us to the back, but the manager (Ken? perhaps) was very accommodating and moved us to a table in the "crab" room even though we did not plan to order any. Not sure if the back room is inherently less noisy or was just less crowded. It was a big improvement, thanks! The food is pretty simple. We had crab cakes which were among the best we have had anywhere. Large cake with big chunks of crab, and very little binding add ins. We had the broiled, they also come fried. Excellent scallops w/ light spice added."

  • "A very nice and pleasant experience.....a wide ranging menu, good seafood and at a very fair price. Generous portions, too. Not located in the best part of Baltimore (Dundalk) but don't let the industrial neighborhood deter you. You won't be disappointed. "

  • "I think the web site needs to be specific about where the happy hour is and specific space for eating crabs.. Was dissappointed I had to move 3 times .. Bar tender in the back bar appeared to be a little over whelm doing Happy Hour as he was the only one.."

  • "Crabs were delicious and the ambience was good as well. I am going back today for lunch with a group of friends for my girlfriends birthday. I cannot wait to enjoy more seafood. "

  • "Only bad moment was we sat for 15mins before someone came to our table, we had to stop a waiter walking by than he went to the host at the front so we could be waited on"

  • "We received a warm, genuine greeting upon our arrival. Our server was cordial and exceeded our expectations. He was knowledgeable of food, wines, and new featured menu items. We noticed the table next to us received the same exceptional service from their server as well. I can't stress the importance of consist great service and food of Jimmy's. I have never been disappointed there. When I mentioned to my coworkers where I dined for Mother's Day, they responded, "Isn't it pricey?" My response, " My family and friends are worth the best." As for the cost, it is comparable to other venues with the same fare. "

  • "Food was great but our server was hardly around because she "had an 11 top in another room"! We had to wait for refills. We ordered dessert 25 mins later she came back with our boxes and told us she was out of the dessert! I think the server was overwhelmed we would definitely come back again!!"

  • "The overall experience at Jimmy's Famous Seafood was AWESOME... Everyone loved the menu choices and the food was spectacular. The waiter... Sam and Manager Kenny were excellent hosts. My family and most of all my Mother, was glad I selected Maryland's #1 seafood restaurant... "

  • "Our server Reni' always provides excellent service. The CRABS, simply the BEST in B/More, are well seasoned and meaty. Whatever you guys are doing do not mess with the process. Faboulous wings; the sauce is the SH**. Sushi --- Kudos! Great selection and always fresh. Jimmy's for life! "

  • "This is the second time in a month that we've been to Jimmy's for steamed crabs and they were amazing! Big, sweet and spiced perfectly, they are served in a steam pot so you know they've got to be good! Our waiter...notsomuch. He was slow to replenish drinks even though we ordered pitchers so there shouldn't have been a delay. The appetizers arrived at the same time as the entrees (for the non-crab-eaters) because he said he didn't put them in right. It was disappointing to have to wait, especially when the ahi tuna came out overcooked when the main course arrived. Order drinks and appetizers when you sit down and maybe the timing will be better for your group."

  • "I was expecting really good food, a lot of noise and potentially slow service. We got great food, great service and it was SOOO loud in there. It is definitely a neighborhood gem and it gets tons of business. I would definitely go back and do want to try their crabs."

  • "i thought the food was good, albeit a little overpriced. For the price of the food i expected a better ambience, or a little less like a typical seafood spot. The server frequently forgot our beverage requests. She was very engaging and knowledgeable about the menu but it seemed that she had too many tables to wait on."

  • " This was a group of 10.Food was very good, but it took forever. Some orders had to be corrected.. Restaurant was packed, but I'm sure this is usual. We spent too much time waiting for drinks, rolls, correction of orders. "

  • "We went to dinner for our anniversary. The service was good and our food was great. Dessert was huge. We were still eating it two days later! Have been there before and will go again. "

  • "2 in our party were late. The manager approached our table 2 times without saying a word, he just stood there looking at us. There were many empty tables so we couldn't understand why he'd be upset, we were eating but didn't place a dinner order yet. The waitress disappeared for 20+ minutes at a time. It was 3ish and the waitress didn't want to place a sandwich order. Most crabs had claws missing (I hate that, top dollar and someone already helped themselves to your meal). I was the only one to order a mixed drink, there was no alcohol in the drink. I finished the drink and felt nothing. I told the waitress and she just gave me a funny look and said nothing. Children were counted to ensure 18% tip. Will not dine there again."

  • "The specials were mostly seafood items. I ordered the stuffed rockfish and it was very good. One person ordered a steak not cooked to the correct temperature but another steak was provided that was suitable. Service was just a tad slow but not bad considering that it was a holiday. Definitely recommend "

  • "If you want to sit and crack crabs or have a steak, this is the place. The menu goes from something as basic and cheap as a cheeseburger to something pricier like surf and turf. It says seafood in the name but their Chicken Parmesan is the best Ive had in Baltimore. "
