A word from Jimmy's at The Landing Resort & Spa
The Landing Resort & Spa, Lake Tahoe’s first lakeside five-star luxury resort, has hired British celebrity chef Maria Elia to oversee Jimmy’s Restaurant, serving wood-fired Greek seafood and locally sourced California cuisine. Elia is known for her thoroughly modern take on the traditional dishes from her Greek heritage, an approach that served as the basis for her recently published third book, Smashing Plates: Greek Flavours Redefined (Kyle Books, September 2013), and is playing a key role in the menu at Jimmy’s. Some of the menu items Elia has created for Jimmy’s include carrot keftedes with pomegranate skordalia, rabbit and white bean baklava with lemon chard salad, a pulled lamb burger with beetroot tzatziki, and a tahini, chocolate and lime cake.Continued

  • "Everything about this restaurant was fabulous from the service to the food to the atmosphere. The presentation of the food was wonderful. Oh, and don't forget about the view. I can't wait to go back."

  • "Sitting outside across the beach from the lake watching the sunset... how does it get better than that? Oh! The amazing Mediterranean small plates, entree's... so different and delicious!!! Topping it all off was Kelly, our amazing server and guide through the sometimes unfamiliar menu... a perfect date night on a perfect Tahoe evening!"

  • "My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Jimmy's at the Landing. We were greeted by most courteous and friendly valets and shown to the restaurant. We were seated immediately in a very private corner with a view of the lake. The menu was astounding. Everything was exquisitely prepared and delicious. Our servers were also very attentive and informative. We couldn't ask for a better dining experience!"

  • "Found this on open table reviews and booked before we came to Tahoe. We were NOT disappointed in any way. Part of the menu are small plates that you can get and share to get a variety of the selections. There were 3 of us and they made sure there was 3 of everything on each plate. We ordered an Amaretto Sour and waiter said they were out of Amaretto but bartender would make from scratch. It was the best cocktail I have EVER had! Service was exceptionable, food was tastey and unique, and the view of the lake incredible. Will eat here every time I come. You must have the White Polenta. Best thing I've ever eaten!!"

  • "Our dinner experience at Jimmy's was simply one surprise after another. After taking in the Landing's nice, modern lobby, we had to take a slightly odd route through the hotel to get to Jimmy's. However, once we rounded the corner to the restaurant, that familiar, modern and fashionable decor reemerged. The decor just outside Jimmy's and throughout its interior was hip and stylish. Coming from Vegas, it had a familiar boutique vibe of the Cosmopolitan Hotel which was a pleasant surprise. As for the food, we were blown away by the unique and different flavor profiles the chef was able to create with novel Greek ingredients. Despite a couple of minor errors with our order, the service was great and the food was definitely memorable! A+"

  • "Spouse and I shared 5 of the small plates - they were all outstanding. Special mention for the tomato, feta, and almond baklava which was sublime - and melted in our mouths. Entree of whole fish, on the other hand, was more average. Beautifully presented but fairly dry, and fairly bland. Excellent wine cellar. We partook of the Roederer '04 champagne (it was a special evening) and bought a case when we got home."

  • "We ate at Jimmy's our last night in South Lake Tahoe and thoroughly enjoyed our evening...from the friendly, beautiful and knowledgable waitress to the handsome wine connoisseur who suggested our unique bottle of wine. The wine was excellent, and the food very unique and delicious! We ordered the small plates for dinner and went straight to dessert. This allowed us all to try everything. I would highly recommend this restaurant. You will leave feeling very satisfied!"

  • "We had hoped for a romantic dinner to celebrate our anniversary. Instead we walked into a poorly managed venue with a 'General Manager' standing around watching a bunch of disgruntled customers waiting for their food. We were told they were backed up so to take a seat at the bar. despite there being spare tables. We were never shown to a seat but walk ins were seated ahead of us- and we were getting hungry. Good job the cocktails were excellent! The staff were doing their best but the place was just poorly managed; we discovered the owner was there watching everything but did nothing to help the serving staff who were totally overworked. Until he called the cops when a customer got impatient! Such a missed opportunity...."

  • "Beautiful decor and nice views from some areas, but the hostess "forgot" us, and we weren't seated until 20 minutes after our reservation time--and then tucked into the far corner without a view. The waitress was too busy, the food was ok, but nothing I would order again or that hasn't been better someplace else. We had the 5 for $45. small plates. They were out of several things on the menu. There was a dirty table in the room where we were seated, which was dirty when we arrived and remained dirty until we left over an hour later. Had to beg for a water refill. The waitress brought us clean plates after we had finished all our food--she was too busy with her other tables to keep up with us. It was a very unpleasant experience."

  • "This is a great new option for fine dining in the South Tahoe area.... fantastic menu, prepared extremely well. We loved the greek influence to the menu. Great location for a special occasion dinner (my wife and I celebrated our 14th wedding anniversary here at Jimmy's while on vacation in Tahoe). Some may find it a bit pricy, but the menu, preparation, and ambience are worth it."

  • "Best view on the South Shore a very friendly and attentive staff and the food was fresh, lots of organics and reasonably priced."

  • "Well prepared, interesting food. California cuisine with a strong Greek influence. You can make a meal of the small plates. There was also a very good lamb entrée. Interesting wine list including Greek wines. Our server was exceptional. The sommelier was very helpful. The staff in general is young and, very service oriented. Not all are experienced in serving so service can vary depending on who you get. Breakfast was decent with service that was very friendly but lacked some coordination and execution."

  • "This was the best and most unique dining experience we had while on vacation in Lake Tahoe. We enjoyed several of the small plate. The ingredient combinations were phenomenal."

  • "Jimmy's has a premium location with windows that look out over Lake Tahoe. The resturant features a nice layout and tasteful decor. Jimmy's an extensive wine list. An attentive sommelier insured timely service with wine orders. Any other drinks coming out of the bar were SLOW to arrive and everything on the drink menu was not available. The kitchen works hard to bring an upscale menu to the dinner table. There are distinct hits and misses coming from the kitchen. The incorporation of Greek cheeses in many dishes was much appreciated for the salty and savory quality in a menu that runs on a sweet theme with a heavy hand on fennel as a flavor enhancer. Wait staff was oozing pretense and uneven in their execution."

  • "For some reason the name Jimmy's Landing led me to expect a rough hewn seaside place, the antithesis of this elegant restaurant. Gorgeous decor... B&W chic modern appearance, original artwork. Seated in a triangular alcove. We had a five course tasting menu, each dish elegantly presented and delicious. The waitress was also terrific, knowledgeable and very attentive. One of the best places in South Lake Tahoe."

  • "I can't say enough about Jimmy's. They are the new kid on the block in South Lake Tahoe and they have wasted the competition in all areas. I have never had such superb and yet unpretentious service. The general manager introduced himself to us and engaged in very sincere conversation, as did our server and the sommelier. The food selections are unique and wonderfully prepared and presented. In addition to the entrees, there is a selection of "tapas style" small plates which are ideal for sharing. My congrats to Jimmy's for providing such a great dining experience."

  • "My children bought me a coupon for mother's day and I decided to use it when friends came to visit from out of town. I was a bit nervous because I had never been there before but from the minute we arrived it was a fabulous experience. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The food was well presented and delicious...of course we will return! what a gem...thank you"

  • "Best new restaurant we have tried in a long time! We had the calamari and the lamb loin, both cooked in the wood oven. Both were excellent, as was the chicken liver pate and the octopus. Don't miss the Greek mojito with a touch of ouzo. Restaurant was short staffed the might we went, but they worked really hard to compensate for it. We will return and leave room for the very interesting dessert menu."

  • "Stayed at the new Boutique Hotel and didn't feel like heading to the main strip to eat. I was surprised by the wonderful ambiance of both the Hotel and the restaurant. The menu is upscale modern Mediterranean, so don't go there if you want comfort food. Do go here if you would like a twist on traditional Greek food. Although the atmosphere is geared more towards adults, they do have a nice children's menu. Our server was excellent and the management was very gracious and attentive."

  • "1. The internet advised there was a 3-course menu for $35 but this had not been available for at least 3 weeks. The internet description should therefore have been amended. According to our waitress she had mentioned it to the Manager on two previous occasions following requests from previous diners. 2. Two items we chose from the small plates menu were not available on the night we dined so substitutes were offered. 3. The food was delicious and beautifully presented - we would dine there again. 4. The staff were efficient, friendly and helpful. "

  • "The wine list is impressive. The cocktails were fantastic, as good as we have had. I'm a foodie and expected more from a resort claiming to be five star. It was not there are better. The appetizers were forgettable, and the service was no better than a corner coffee shop. We were only the second party to arrive at the restaurant and were not given any choice for a table. We were seated in a corner in the back of the restaurant with no view of the lake. Very disappointed in the whole experience. "

  • "We loved the fact that the restaurant uses their grill to make many of the offerings plus many small plates makes this the perfect dining experience. Being right across from the picturesque lake is a definite must. I highly recommend dining here when in S. Lake Tahoe. "

  • "Right on the lake. Superior service. Food is out of this world! A nice break from the traditional steakhouse and chain restaurant. It's very apparent a lot of thought was put into this restaurant. I'm not a huge fan of South Lake Tahoe - I usually prefer North shore, but I will definitely return just to eat at Jimmy's!"

  • "We had a super evening out at Jimmy's. From stepping through the door we were made to feel welcome and special. The tapas style starters were amazing a wonderful collection of Greek inspired bites with a unique twist. Truly delicious. The sommelier was very helpful guiding us through the extensive wine list to find something that he thought we would really enjoy. Our waiter was very gracious and the timeing of the food delivery was spot on. We had a wonderful view of the lake and mountains. We loved it all!"

  • "I heard about this place from a friend who has quite the list when it comes to places she's been and food she has tried. I decided to try it out and I was very pleased with the entire experience. The food is awesome... I can't even begin to compare it... But it makes you feel like you're at a restaurant in Greece or Turkey. Everything was very authentic yet still had a nice California twist to it. Order the 5-10 appetizers so you can try a few dishes and share an entre (best if you have two people dining). Finally, we ended with a Greek cheesecake for desert and that too, was mouth watering. Looking forward to hitting up this spot when Ike and Martin start playing music! "

  • "Sitting next to the bar you can get some rowdy, flip flop/shorts/ baseball hat wearing guests that take away from the charm. If you dress up, as most people do, you might not want to sit next to the bar. Ask for the dining room. "

  • "We tried 10 of the 15 small plates and they were all perfect. There were 3 of us and it was enough to share although some of the items came for two, ie two shrimp, two slices of tuna, two chicken wings. The flavors were well balanced and nothing was so out of control over the top, just very good ingredients made into beautifully presented dishes. I chose this place because of other reviews that said, finally Tahoe has a place fit for foodies - they were not wrong!"

  • "An amazingly beautiful, modern setting, more typical of chic urban dining. Although the restaurant was empty, we were seated in the 'bar' area. Visually noisy, large screen TV's .Bistro table size for four of us. Bread/butter plate, no bread. Intriguing menu - and exciting. Beet and apple salad great but so small a portion, five bites and finished. Flavor of apple soup with curry wonderful, presentation looked like it came out of a baby food jar. Fresh Ono moist and succulent but poor plate presentation. Half chicken moist, but too large a portion for anyone to eat. Mussels just not good - 12 small mussels in a thick sauce (overwhelmed flavor of dish) and difficult to eat. No finger bowl or wet napkin to keep fingers clean."

  • "It was our first time to be there though we have visited Tahoe couple times. I would say it a fantastic place in Tahoe area with great food and excellent service! It should be a great place to know and to go, I have already recommended it to several friends !"

  • "We had a very pleasant experience at Jimmy's, our first time there. The food was excellent, the tapas menu varied and imaginative and universally excellent across the seven or eight choices that we made. The wine list was quite extensive with many very interesting labels and at what I thought were reasonable prices. There was a good selection of international wines. The sommelier was very helpful and made a great recommendation of a domestic Meritage which we found much to our liking. Overall, it was an outstanding experience and we look forward to our next visit, hopefully soon!"

  • "We were a group of 6, our 1st night in Tahoe, staying at The Landing. We ordered all 15 small plates right off the bat....1 was more delicious than the next! The waiter & sommelier were quite knowledgeable, helpful, fun! We can't wait to come back next year!"

  • "Go. Brand new. Elegant. Warm. You will be looking directly at the Lake & west shore (Mt. Tallac). Every single staff person--from Valet to Director of Food & Beverage, Mr. Suresh Rao--was genuinely respectful & upbeat. One of the most creative menus I've ordered from in my 60 years on the planet. The preparation & taste of the food are outstanding. The bar (layout & ambiance) and bartender both get an A+. Whoever put this operation together knew what he/she was doing. Don't miss out on one of the very, very best that Lake Tahoe has to offer. (I know restaurants: Head Waiter in 5 different Chart House locations over 8 years--yes, Kingsbury for 4 years--then 10 years in restaurant management before changing careers to become a professor.)"
