  • "Seemed like the waiter was a bit pushy trying to up sell for an additional items."

  • "This is the best restaurant near 30th Street Train Station, period."

  • "The lunch specials are definitely worth a try. Burgers are delicious, especially if someone else is paying!"

  • "My first time at JG- meeting an old friend on a train stopover from 30th Street Station. Requested a quiet table so we could catch up on the 9 years since we got together last. They seated us in a private booth back by the stairs- fantastic- holding the table even though we were a half hour late (train was delayed). Our meal was delicious- I had gazpacho presented in a square bowl with a hazelnut brittle and chopped strawberries for garnish, followed by a delectable meatloaf on cheddar grits. My friend had a seafood soup and turkey panini. Beignets with butterscotch sauce for dessert. YUMMY! Our server was fabulous, and I never felt hurried at all- we stayed for 2-1/2 hours. It was a memorable meal in a beautiful venue! THANKS!"

  • "Only restaurant around 30th street station . It is part of the lobby of an office building. very limited menu and some were not available. Service average, food ok but mostly since it is the only place around."

  • "I had requested a quiet table for my boss and his colleague. They got a nice quiet table in the corner and had plenty of room to spread out their papers and files. I suggested this place to my boss and he really liked it. I believe that this is his 3rd or 4th time eating at JG Domestic. He said that it is a really nice place. He is a vegetarian and loves the food also. He had reservations for 11:30am and stayed until about 4:30pm. It is very conveniently located right near the train station and has ample parking. Every time he is in Philly, he always dines at JG Domestic."

  • "I took a client there. There were a lot of options. The client had a special diet and they were very accommodating toward her needs as well. I would suggest it to anyone who has a working lunch. "

  • "The food is tasty. The waitstaff kindof takes a long time to give you water initially. The salads are very good."

  • "Our party of 3 attended JG Domestic's Mothers Day Brunch. The food was delicious and the service was excellent as well. We have eaten at this restaurant twice and were delighted both times. We have patronized a number of Philadelphia Magazine's top 50 restaurants and rate JGD as one of the two best. If you are thinking about trying it you should - you will not be disapointed."

  • "The flatbread and Luna Farms Salad were delicious! The meatloaf was lukewarm and way too salty. The grits looked and tasted like glue and were cold. Our server never once asked how anything was, she only interacted with us to try to sell us more ie: another glass of wine, dessert, coffee etc. Very disappointing for a Garces restaurant!"

  • "We ran in for a late lunch traveling home back from NYC. Salad was fresh and deelicious and burger was terrific! Fries worth the calories too! Enjoy! Great location by the train station!"

  • "This restaurant is in am off location, but it's well worth the trip. A great find. The portions for the tasting menu were quite large too. Lots of value for your dollar."

  • "We had a fantastic lunch at JG. We were first time diners there, although we have enjoyed many of Chef Garces' restaurants. The food was delicious (butternut squash soup, hummus, truffle flatbread, beet salad) but our server, elyssa, really made our experience memorable. She was excellent, offering great advice to help us make our selections. We look forward to returning!"

  • "Came here for lunch after a mid-day show, and was pleasantly surprised. I've been impressed with all of JG's places, but had heard mixed things about this location. We had a lovely lunch, without excessive noise (a rarity), a comfortable and roomy space, good service, and the best surprise - the Village Whiskey burger - without having to wait an hour at the 20th st location. Another standout was the bourbon biegnet. I would definitely come back for dinner or happy hour."

  • "The food was delicious! The best hamburger in Philadelphia coupled with duck fat fries. The chimichurri steak was also well prepared."
    Dined on 1/24/2014
  • "The only complaint was that I mentioned, in my online reservation request, that one of our party was vegan. When she ordered her salad, it had to be sent back because the dressing had egg in it. (One other minor complaint, the plants that were hanging over our table needed watering - badly!)"

  • "Was in Phila for business and in the Cira Centre. The options are very limited - Au Bon Pain? Fine for just me, but needed to do a business lunch. JD really fit the bill. Nice and bright, interesting menu. Could have sat there all day!"

  • "We were a group of 11. The food was good but overpriced. The cheese and mushroom flavor on th steak sandwiches overpowered the taste of the meat. The restaurant accomodated my vegan diet and special requests. The waiter was hard to find and the plates were not cleared. We all enjoyed the flatbread, hummus, burgers, salad, and pickles."
    Dined on 12/12/2013
  • "I had the burger and fries. The burger and roll fell apart and made a mess of the plate and my shirt. THe menu overall was odd and pretty expensive. Took a friend there for her birthday, wasn't a great experience and doubt I would do it there again. Expensive and odd not great food, No Thank you. The staff was very pleasant, just ina poor place."

  • "My first time at JG was what will become the first of many more. The setting is perfect for a productive lunch; the food was of the finest quality; and the service was efficient and professional. The fish and chips were some of the best I have ever eaten. And, then the sinful but very delicious beignets. Clearly, one cannot, should not, eat lunch like this every day, but what a treat!!"

  • "Unusual experience for lunch on 10.03.2013 at J.G. Domestic... Our waitress was friendly and introduced herself quickly. We were never served all of our items together... We ordered appetizers (2), meals (3) and beverages (3) and all were brought to us at separate times. It's awkward to begin eating your lunch when your companions have not yet rec'd their meals. Overall, our food was good. One note - We ordered the 'House Made Pickles' as one appetizer and we we very surprised to receive an order of pickled vegetables (kale and carrots). While they vegetables were not bad, they certainly were not the 'pickles' we were expecting. And one final note - it shouldn't take 10 minutes (no lie!) to get a take-home box."

  • "The atmosphere was nice and the noise level was excellent. No one felt they had to shout to be heard. The chicken panini is my favorite. Everyone that got the fish and chips and the burger said it was delicious and the best they ever had. I will try the fish and chips next time. The waiter was excellent and and very attentive. It was an enjoyable experience."

  • "Had lunch with two friends at this restaurant. It was very enjoyable from start to finish. Our waiter, Nathan, was awesome! The food was delicious. The butternut squash soup was heavenly, the burger was outstanding, and dessert was yummy. The service was excellent. We were not rushed and had an relaxing lunch. The chef even came to our table to chat about the soup!! How nice is that?"

  • "I finally tried the kale salad. It wasn't bitter, as expected. The buttermilk dressing was a touch heavy, but tasty. The beignets are notto be missed."

  • "Really enjoyed our "just girls" luncheon at JG Domestic. The service was impeccable, and the food was complex, interesting, and delicious. When we tried each other's food and added new items to our choices, they appeared promptly, and the servers were gracious and helpful. A delightful experience."

  • "The meal was just okay, and I was disappointed, as I am a semi-regular luncher at JG Domestic. the bean soup was watery and not hot enough. The burger was served on a bun that fell apart. The bread for a hamburger should have some spring so it can take the juices that emerge, and this didn't. Also, the burger was on the greasy side. I'd definitely eat there again, but I can't recommend those two menu items."

  • "I've eaten here 10 times because its in my office building and sometimes we end up here. After more than a year of surly and arrogant service coupled with average and not so tasty food at unreasonable prices, this visit showed some improvement. Although the lunch menu contines to be priced higher than comparable restaurants (expect $25 - $30 pp w tax and tip) the food was served promptly ans we all got it at the same time. Gone were the weeds that were once called salad replaced by recognizable lettuce. We had an attentive and pleasant waiter"

  • "It had been quite a while since I had been there for dinner but a colleague was meeting someone at 30th street station, so I thought this would be convenient with out the hassle of parking downtown. The menu was small, I had a salad and asked for ground pepper and was told they don't have any (waiter went on to explain in todays nouveaux dining this is passai) etc. After paying the bill, I learned that the parking was $17 for 11/2 hours. All in all, not a good experience."

  • "I went here for lunch with my family after my commissioning ceremony. I felt like they were doing a lot to accommodate our large party size. The waitress was very friendly and attentive and the JG Domestic burger was exceptional (especially with that egg on top...mmmmmm). I didn't like the flat bread snacks as much, but they were still decent. The fish and chips (which a lot of my family members ordered) were pretty stellar also. I loved the decoration and layout of the restaurant itself. Very cool. They had a good bar too which I might have been inclined to patronize more had I not been with the fam :) Would definitely recommend to others."

  • "Went here with the WHOLE family after my commissioning ceremony at school. I loved the layout and the decoration of the place, very accessible and easy to find. The restaurant and the waitress herself were very accommodating to our rather large party. The JG Domestic burger and fish and chips entrees were the most commonly order in our party. I LOVED the burger with that wonderful egg on top...DELICIOUS. The fish and chips I thought were just so-so, same with our flat bread appetizer. They also had a wonderful selection of draught beers including my personal favorite, the Yards PPA!! All around good experience and would definitely recommend!"

  • "I've been to JG Domestic 3 times previously. The food was at expected levels--esp the flatbread. We were sitting at the bar--the service was poor. It wasn't that crowded, but our server took a very long time--almost as if we were an imposition. The pour on the bourbons was pathetic. First of all, putting bourbon or other good whiskey (and JG has a very deep selection) in prissy little snifters is a horrible affectation. I don't care what drink consultant they brought in--that's no way to have a decent straight whiskey. Second, the amount? For $12 to $19 dollars a glass you should not have essentially a glorified thimble-full. I brought this up to the bartender. He looked at me like I had two heads. Maybe next time."

  • "I did like the food, specially the appetizers were great. However, I think that the options were limited and not too many healthy options besides salads to choose from. It 'd be nice to see a veggie burger added to the menu"

  • "Service was terrible. Bread came out frozen, was taken back, and came back still partially frozen. No options for kids. Food was delicious but very small portions for what you pay."

  • "We had a great meal here--there were 6 of us and we shared a lot of interesting appetizers and salads. Space feels open and airy, cool decor, and we loved watching everyone work in the open kitchen. Highly recommended!"
