Diner Reviews
  • "The overall experience was very pleasant . Great service and food.... POPOVERS are the BEST."

  • "The bacon on the wrapped steak filet was very underdone and was not able to be eaten. It was not able to be cut due to it's under cooked state. It needed to be removed and set aside. The steak itself was great. The walleye was spectacular."

  • "We went with another couple. Really enjoyed our pre-dinner cocktails. The food overall was pretty good. Can't beat the pop overs. They have ditched the relish tray, which is fine. I had the "beef flight" - cool idea with 3 different cuts of meat. The ambience was very nice. It's the first restaurant I have been to where the temperature was just right (didn't freeze like I typically do in over-air conditioned places)."

  • "Even though we've been at Jensen's for years, we still love it. New menu is different but excellent. Would hope they might add a few more selections, but what they serve is OUTSTANDING! Too warm to sit on patio, but it looks fabulous!"

  • "love the new menu! salads are great, expanded appetizers and choices are appreciated. can't wait to try them for lunch need to expand "by the glass" wine choices though"

  • "Jansen's has been a favorite of ours for many years. Saturday was our first time dining with the new menu. We were very pleased with everything that we ordered. We like it so much better now that the menu is no longer a la carte. The prime rib dinner and twin filets wrapped in bacon plus three broiled shrimp were tender and flavorful. The sides added by the chef were perfect. We left knowing we had just been treated to a great dinner and taken care of by a very attentive wait staff. Looking forward to our next visit to Jensen's."

  • "Two people in our group had to send our meals back (steak) because they were cold. Didn't see our waitress very often either."

  • "Food, as usual was excellent. Cost is on the high side and it will limit the number of times we go there."

  • "The food was good and the service excellent but I have two complaints; 1. I'm just not used to paying $39.00 for a 9oz fillet. At least not in Minnesota; add wine and appetizers and complements and the bill is really out of the park. 2. Extreme dairy. Let's get a little creative here. From the appetizers to the desserts and everything in between it was almost impossible to get away from the cheese and cream. Could we have a few choices that were delicious on their own merits and not dependent on rich, creamy sauces and overlays of cheese for their flavor? Fresh flavors that are more dependent on seasonings and flavors than heavy, artery clogging dairy? Jensen's needs to consider updating their menu for the new decor."

  • "Jensen's never fails! The food and the service are always wonderful!"

  • "Our first visit since Jensen's reopened was disappointing. They have added potatoes and a vegetable to each entrée, garlic mashed or gouda hashbrowns. They are not hashbrowns, they were cold, and not tasty. Jensen's hashbrowns are still offered as a side for which you pay extra. Vegetable was listed as sautéed spinach and leeks. Two wilted spinach leaves and a small piece of leek under the hashbrowns is not a vegetable. The relish tray is gone. Salads were skimpy. Dressing choices were limited and did not appeal to me. The prime rib was flavorless and salty. The lobster tail was overcooked and dry. Goodbye Jensen's."

  • "It had been a while since we had been to Jensen's for dinner. We had some out of town friends in for the week and decided that this would be a great dining experience. We were not disappointed. The food was excellent. The staff was friendly and made us feel welcomed. It was a very enjoyable evening."

  • "Food was very good! I had the steak oscar and the lobster cake was a special treat. The only change I might suggest is to expand your wine list."

  • "We have been going to Jensen's for quite some time and have always LOVED it. Just went their after their remodel and new menu and it was very bad. It took over 1 hour to get served. Ordered their filet which I always do but this time it was not good. The rest of my party had issues too. The prime rib was not a fresh cut piece and was obviously reheated, extremely salty, dry - could not eat it. They did away with their delicious garlic mashed potatoes side dish & now give you an ice cream scoop of it with your steak. It was cold and NOT the same as their side portion they used to serve. We brought 4 new people with us to this dinner and we were raving about this restaurant to them but after dinner, they we not impressed. Won't be going back."

  • "Love the new menu. The outdoor dining is a nice added feature."

  • "Jensen's is a little pricey, but worth it. The food is delicious, and the service excellent."

  • "The remodel of the restaurant looks great, but most importantly the food is as fantastic as always and the Razzatini's can't be beat."

  • "We have been to jensen's many, many times but the food was not up to their standards. My medium ordered steak was rare. My husbands potatoes were cold. I did tell the server about my steak but I declined to send it back. I didn't want to wait. Nothing more was offered or said to me. We will try it again but a steakhouse should know how to cook a steak."

  • "We usually go here for special occasions and are rarely disappointed. We had the walleye oscar which was great. The popovers are always awesome. They have made some changes since remodeling, not all of which we liked. They no longer give you an hors d'oeuvre tray which I always enjoyed but no big deal. Salads are now individual rather than a shared bowl, but the size is generous. They got rid of the deep fryer so my favorite dish, coconut shrimp, is no longer available. And the cake that you get free with special occasions is pretty basic. However, the only change that really bothered me is that the music is now jazz and is louder than it used to be. I personally don't care for jazz and never like restaurants with loud music."

  • "Did not like the new Jensen's. Menu was confusing and prices too high. Liked it better before the remodel. Will not go back"

  • "Great food, service and atmosphere. Had a very enjoyable dinner experience."

  • "Great cocktails, food was excellent and great atmosphere. The renovation is great, but the light was dimmed down so low we could just barely read the menu. I think that some tables need a brighter lightbulb. The area next to us was fine but our booth was quite dark."

  • "Jensen's has lost the charm it had prior to the recent changes."

  • "The was prepared to perfection! Our server did a great job - picked up on my Aunt's name and wished her a happy birthday. Made the night special with a great piece of cake with a candle. We will be back soon and are recommending Jensen's to our friends."

  • "A great experience. We were warmly greeted. We arrived early, planning on a cocktail on the new patio. We were told our table was ready for us whenever we were ready to come in, no rush. Our sever on the patio and beverages were great. On to the dining room. We had walleye, tenderloin, ribs, shrimp - all perfect. We liked that individual salads and potato options are now included with each entree. Love the pop-overs! Can't praise our server enough. Everyone was very friendly & attentive. Over the top! Will return often."

  • "Jensen's remains one of our favorite restaurants for both special and ordinary dining. The service is always superb and the food is spectacular. As has been said about steak, the secret to good meat is "good meat". They have it and know how to prepare it. Love their sides as well. Highly recommend it."

  • "My wife and I go to Jensen's for date nights. The ambiance is great. We wanted a nice slow pace. Our server was perfect. Didn't come by to often, and wasn't trying to rush us."

  • "We've been going to Jensen's for many years. It's always very good, but the prices seem to be escalating. Unless you go for the early bird dining, expect to pay over $20, even $30 or more, for an entree. Salads, sides, etc., are all extra. For an Eagan restaurant and a supper club, that's a little steep."

  • "friday night prime rib was excellent. some of the best I've had."

  • "We enjoyed the private feel & look of the booths. We enjoyed the relish tray salad and popovers! We loved our dinners! The lobster cake and cheesy hash browns were outstanding!"

  • "Steaks were perfectly done (I had never heard of medium plus but it was exactly what I wanted- pink with no blood). Waitress was very accommodating when we wanted to take our time with a pre-meal drink or have our picture taken or box up the free dessert. Looking forward to seeing the remodel!"

  • "The perfect place to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. (Special thanks to our server, Dave.)"
    Dined on 6/26/2014
  • "Dinner was excellent. We had the steak and lobster. Appetizers are now a disappointment to us. We miss the calamari very much. The new appetizers are not an attraction for us. We think the price of the appetizers is too much. We never mind paying more for any meals or appetizers when we eat out, but we think the restaurant has made a big mistake with their appetizer selections. We do not just come for the meal, but the appetizers we something we used to look forward to, but now that is not the case."

  • "Slow service, not much ambience, very noisy, tables too close to each other, food was okay but just okay. I figured at those prices it would be phenomenal. Could get a similar tasting meal, more food, similar ambience and noise level at Applebee's. surprised it was as busy as it was on a Wednesday cause honestly we were not impressed. we had noisy drunk people on either side of our booth which did not add to the ambience at all."

  • "Our food was great and the service was excellent! We loved the ambience. It's a quiet romantic setting. I would highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "Whenever we go back to Minnesota we make a point of going to Jensen's for dinner. They are currently remodeling and we hope they don't change the wonderful 'Ol Time" atmosphere we love. The relish tray and popovers served with every meal are a nice touch, and the bar is fabulous, especially the martini's with blue cheese stuffed olives AND they serve the old time drinks, grasshoppers, brandy alexanders, etc., which are wonderful."

  • "We were at Jensen's to celebrate 50th Anniversary. Emily was our server and she did a phenomenal job of taking care of us. On Sunday's they have an early dining menu and the selections are outstanding as was the food. They also give you a very good wine pour. We definately will return to Jensen's in the near future.e"
