A word from Jeff Ruby's - Louisville
The first & only steakhouse of its kind in the Louisville area, Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse serves only dry-aged USDA prime beef. While steak is the foundation of the menu, Jeff Ruby's promises to please seafood lovers as well with its raw/sushi bar & seafood entrees.
Jeff Ruby regulars will be pleased to know that their favorite signature items from the Cincinnati restaurants will be well represented in Louisville. The bone-in filet, the 7 cheese baked macaroni, creamed spinach, truffle flake creamed corn, & of course Jeff Ruby's secret recipe cheesecake will all be staples of the Louisville menu.
Styled after the great NY steakhouses of the 1930's & 40's, Jeff Ruby's promises to be as pleasing visually as it is to the palate. French art-deco design, plush mohair upholstery, hand selected antique furniture and cinematic crystal chandeliers anchored by a 1950s-era antique featured in the Starz series Magic City and the 32 foot wall of wine.

Diner Reviews
  • "We have dined here many times and the food and service have been wonderful in the past. So I was very surprised when the steak that I had ordered medium was beyond rare. I hate to send food back but had no choice in this case and it was returned to the table still extremely rare. The baked potato tasted like it was actually a reheated potato! Not even fluffy white inside. We spent well over $200.00 on our meal and bar bill and were very disappointed."

  • "Food was great service was good until the room filled up.i feel like service dropped off by about 50% after that?will say service did not match what restaurant stands for? Have had much better at other Jeff ruby's locations."

  • "I chose this restaurant for my romantic birthday celebration with my husband due to all the great reviews. Maybe I just had too high of hopes, because I was disappointed. Service was good, but the food was not worth the cost. I had the tuna, which wasn't bad but not worth $28. We had asparagus as a side and for $9, it was overcooked and dried out with no flavor. My husband had the pork chop, which he did enjoy. But the highlights of the meal were the crab and corn fritters appetizer and the creme brûlée. Overall though, I think you can find better food somewhere else in downtown Louisville."

  • "Took my wife there for our anniversary to celebrate 2 years. The service and the food was amazing and we would definitely go back. John was our waiter and did an awesome job. Even gave us some cheesecake for our anniversary. My wife thought that was very sweet."

  • "Exceptional experience. Art Deco style and energetic ambiance plus great service. Food was less impressive - ravioli, bone in filet, and seviche were a bit disappointing. But Creme brûlée was incredible."

  • "Terrific meat and creative side dishes were tremendously enjoyed! Our waiter offered suggestions based upon our questions, and hit it right with each one. Jeff also had a tremendous knowledge of Kentucky Bourbons which was very interesting, informative, and helpful. Cannot wait to come back next time in Louisville!"

  • "Food was a very long time in arriving table. Almost 3 hrs for a dinner party of 4."
    Dined on 8/23/2014
  • "We dined here for a special occasion. The crab cake was absolutely divine, as my partner is quite a connoisseur of crab cakes. The Freddie salad was scrumptious and tasted as though delicate smoked bacon was infused in the lettuce. The steaks were out of this world, but... that particular night, our steaks arrived over an hour after we had ordered them. There had been a large party there so it threw the kitchen off. It ended up being a very long night, but the food was delicious and the service was more than gracious in trying to make up for the wait and we felt like it was more than made up for."

  • "This was are first time visiting the Louisville Jeff Ruby's, and we loved it. We went for our anniversary and they made it a special occasion by taking our picture and printing it out and giving it to us. The server also gave us dessert. As always the food was amazing."

  • "Only rating the noise level as moderate because people were enjoying themselves... it was the perfect balance of quiet and liveley. Food, service, everything was amazing. A former waitress myself, I was jealous of the teamwork the staff showed... it would have been nice to have that at the restaurants I've worked out. They were truly knowledgeable and were able to provide top tier service. The Virginia Blue Point oysters were fabulous... I'm from the east coast of Virginia and very picky about seafood. I was blown away by the yellowfin tuna steak and tiger shrimp as well. Cooked perfectly. Fresh. Juicy. Perfection. Who knew I could get seafood like this in Louisville??!"

  • "For a great dinner in Louisville, this is one of the best places to go. This place has great steaks, a great atmosphere and an amazing wait staff. Everyone seems friendly and available to meet your needs. The entertainment "inside" the bar is great and the atmosphere is wonderful. Great place for special occasions."

  • "I'm not in Louisville very often, but the last two times I've been there I've dined at Jeff Ruby's. I felt like I had to order steak, and I did even though the prices are, in my mind, the kind of prices reserved for special occasions. But the steaks sure are good. And the sides are big enough to serve four. I had the Collinsworth (a/k/a steak oscar) and it was perfectly cooked and delicious. Couldn't talk my table into the brussell sprouts, but wish I could have. Carrot cake was very good. Saw Tom Watson there to cap off our evening...what could be better?"

  • "Seated at transition from bar to dining room. The spot was busy but I enjoyed the people viewing. Tom Watson and Andy North two tables away was kind of fun. Great service. Cocktail was excellent. I got the bone-in filet which was one of their dry-aged cuts. It was prepared perfectly Mid Rare. Beefsteak Tomato Salad was very good. Kind of disappointed in the filet. Seemed to be quite a bit of waste because of the bone-in cut. I would order a regular filet or strip next time. Pretty pricey, but everything was good and you were in a hot spot with some golf celebs. Good by me!"

  • "We revisited when in Louisville - a great place - we did surf & turf (Chilean Sea Bass & Filet Mignon) - prepared perfectly. Only nuisance is the noise level, but bearable."

  • "We went for our 9th anniversary. The restaurant is beautiful, the servers were great and helpful, and food beyond delicious! Our only complaint was the noise level got very loud and we couldn't hear one another when talking. We went at 7:15 and after 8 is when the noise was got loud. We will go back but much earlier next time."

  • "Service was a home run however the price is over the top. We could have has a comparable meal for 1/3 of the price. It was a good experience to have once but we won't go back. Again service was amazing!"

  • "I am a long time fan of Jeff Ruby's food and constantly fight with myself over whether to have the steak (always the best) or the crab (so fresh). Crab won out this time and it was fabulous!!! So was the Freddie Salad! I would like to have been able to hear the live music as it was one of the reasons we chose this particular restaurant over others in Louisville."

  • "This is the best food in Louisville. The prices are high, but well worth it for the quality. The filet mignon is to die for. The service matches the quality of the food."
    Dined on 7/25/2014
  • "The best steak I have ever ate!!! Some side notes; I have now learned that I need to eliminate the baked potato and share the salad. Of course, I share the macaroni and cheese already due to the large sharing portions. The only suggestion I have is do not get the baked potato, it is overpriced for just a baked potato, and the other food will put you in a blissful coma anyway. The steak melts in your mouth, the salad tastes like a BLT in every bite, the macaroni and cheese will put you over the edge in a complete "check out from reality" state of goodness. The wine that the waiter suggested was perfect for my meal. All I have to say is expect a pricey meal, but it is worth it in service, food, atmosphere, and overall satisfaction."

  • "We celebrated our ninth year anniversary at Jeff Rubys Friday night. The service was phenomenal and the food was mouth watering. They even took our picture so we would have a keepsake of our special night. We had a wonderful time"

  • "My husband and I have dined at Jeff Ruby's in Louisville, Kentucky many times. This particular time was probably the best service and dining experience that we have had. The servers made sure we were well taken care of. Additionally, management was visible and made it a point to check on our dining experience. The food was exceptional, including the "anniversary cheesecake". This was the first time we were able to try the sushi and it was as delicious as the rest of the menu. We cannot wait to return!!"

  • "Expected top service and food and we were not disappointed. Dry-aged steaks have a stronger, more intense flavor and may not be for everyone."

  • "We had a fantastic dinner at Jeff Ruby's last weekend. The aged, bone-in steaks were done to perfection and melted in one's mouth. Also of note were the green beans and the chopped salad. This is an excellent steak house restaurant with a youthful vibe and an exceptional wine list."

  • "This restaurant has great ratings, so we had high expectations. We were not disappointed! Everything, from beginning to end was superb -- incredie food, beautiful presentation, and never-even-have-to-refill-your-wine-glass service. This place is a must for anyone visiting downtown Louisville."

  • "Great experience. Waiter was very good, my only knock with the service was that no one was in a hurry there but maybe that's a good thing. Have already recommended it to others just as it was recommended to me. Best Filet that I have ever had. Thanks!"

  • "The service was wonderful. The food was great. My only suggestion would be to lighten up on the bacon in the salad; also on the scallops. Scallops are huge but were way to salty. Steak - filet Mignon was delicious!!!!!"
