A word from Jeff Ruby's - Louisville
The first & only steakhouse of its kind in the Louisville area, Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse serves only dry-aged USDA prime beef. While steak is the foundation of the menu, Jeff Ruby's promises to please seafood lovers as well with its raw/sushi bar & seafood entrees.
Jeff Ruby regulars will be pleased to know that their favorite signature items from the Cincinnati restaurants will be well represented in Louisville. The bone-in filet, the 7 cheese baked macaroni, creamed spinach, truffle flake creamed corn, & of course Jeff Ruby's secret recipe cheesecake will all be staples of the Louisville menu.
Styled after the great NY steakhouses of the 1930's & 40's, Jeff Ruby's promises to be as pleasing visually as it is to the palate. French art-deco design, plush mohair upholstery, hand selected antique furniture and cinematic crystal chandeliers anchored by a 1950s-era antique featured in the Starz series Magic City and the 32 foot wall of wine.

Diner Reviews
  • "I enjoyed the food at Jeff Ruby's but the service was a little sloppy. There were no glaring mistakes, but the staff didn't seem sharp enough for a white tablecloth restaurant. Moreover, I expected a restaurant like that (in Bourbon country no less) to use real Luxardo maraschino cherries instead of those bleached red travesties in their Manhattans. I enjoyed my meal and I would go back. But there were some service issues which detracted from my dining experience, like my waiter clearing my plate from the left using his right hand, that is, he reached directly in front of me. The table was never crumbed; I definitely expect crumbing in fine fining. No huge deals but a few things which subtracted value from the dining experience."

  • "I went to Jeff Ruby's thinking of steak. But when I got there, the seabass looked awesome and it was! Glad that I changed my mind."

  • "Definitely for my family a splurge option that we would only eat at annually or on very special occasions but nonetheless maybe the best steak I have ever eaten. Loved the fact that they had several options available as to how you wanted your steak prepared as well as options for topping your steak. Steaks were prepared exactly as expected. Romantic ambiance (perfect for our one year anniversary dinner). Wait staff was well informed, attentive and very friendly. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for an upscale dining option, you won't be disappointed. Oh and try the six-cheese mac & cheese side, for this mac & cheese lover it was superb!"

  • "This was my first experience dining at Jeff Ruby's. Everything that we ordered was excellent- from the Godfather Sushi roll appetizer to the filet mignon smothered in Crabmeat, asparagus and creamy sauce. Even the Mushroom truffle butter was outstanding. We liked It so much that we ordered takeout sushi to have the Next night to have as we watched the UK final four Game from our hotel room. Can't say enough good Things about the attentive wait staff, either. So courteous, Even though they were crazy busy both nights. Great Experience."

  • "John was a great waiter. He had good suggestions. Colin was the second waiter. We tried the steak and lobster, pork chop and the bison with blueberry sauce. we had mac and cheese for a side dish which was good. Dinner was very good and service was good. This restaurant is always worth a stop. Also there are jelly beans on the way out which are a really nice touch."

  • "Jeff Ruby's is the best overall steakhouse in Louisville. I have been to most of the other high-end steakhouses and Jeff Ruby's beats them all. The steak is wonderful, the sides are delicious, the staff is attentive, and there is no place in Louisville to go and get a beter dining experience. My wife and I have shared our Anniversary dinner here for the past three years, and will continue to do so for many years to come."

  • "Went to Jeff Ruby's Saturday night before a show at the KY Center and like usual the food was excellent and the service was impeccable. The Manager Jeff Leppert always make you feel welcome and is on top of everything, no detail is left undone or forgotten. Jeff visits your table several times throughout the night to make sure your evening dining experience will be a first class event. Thanks again Jeff for getting our evening off to a Great Start! & Our late night too!, we returned for wine and a snack in the Bar after attending the KY Center event. See ya again soon, Jerry Kelley"

  • "I love the upscale but relaxed feel of this place. I definitely will return. The Filet Mignon was best ive ever had and the Wedge lettuce salad was amazing. Service was well-timed and friendly. We were 15 minutes early on a very busy Friday evening but already had our table waiting and seated us right away!! Reservations that actually work! Awesome!"

  • "Visited Louisville for our anniversary; stayed at the Brown Hotel, with their own nice restaurant , but wanted to go to Jeff Rubys, Louisville. We eat at Ruby's places in Cincinnati, especially the Precinct, so knew we would have a great experience in Louisville. Food was great, service excellent with southern friendliness. Our server, Slade, went above and beyond, even left restaurant to catch us to give us some info about Alaska, which we had been talking with him about. We also met another son of Jeff's; Dillon, who was a delightful, down to earth gentleman who surely is a gem to the Louisville restaurant . We have come to expect a certain level of excellence from Jeff Ruby's establishments and Louisville did not disappoint!"

  • "Louisville has many really fine restaurants, several that are certainly on par with places in any city you care to visit. But if I had to pick one place, it's Jeff Ruby's. Sure the steaks are awesome, but the seafood is just as fine. Fantastic wine list, great service and atmosphere, and Pete Peterson on the piano in the bar. If you are looking for a special night out with good friends, or want to impress business associates coming to our great city - this is the place."

  • "This was our first time dining at Jeff Ruby's. We have both dined at Ruth Chris and Del Friscos and wanted to try somewhere new for my boyfriends 35th birthday. HUGE let down. The service lacked, it was so loud you couldn't hear your own conversation. Listening to other guest's yell over the music was ridiculous. Our waiter apparently had no knowledge in the different cuts of steak. I left a note in my reservation that we were celebrating my boyfriends birthday and even told our waiter when asked. Nothing special was done for him. Seems the only special touches they have is decorated butter you get for free and a nice fabric 'to go' bag for your leftovers. As far as a business casual dress code? Tons of jeans, tennis shoes, t shirts, etc..."

  • "My husband loves Jeff Ruby's and I definitely like it, but it does seem to be geared toward men, and the majority of tables were full of men. Just an observation. The food is very good and we always have a good time. The service is outstanding, and wow they have an extensive wine list."

  • "Jeff Ruby's is an amazing resturaun. The food is amazing, I would highly reccomend the filet. The service is also worth mentioning. They dont rush you to order, they are very professional and respectful of your dining experience. We were there for our anniversary and they took a free picture and returned it in a Jeff Ruby frame/booklet. It was romantic and fun. We will definitely be returning in the future."

  • "Palace of Fine Dining with a capital M. For Meat that is! There are many very good to excellent steak houses all over the US, but there are always those very few who achieve the Best of the Very Best...of everything and not just meat. That would be Jeff Ruby's in Louisville. Everyone of the restaurant staff was impeccably dressed, smiling and upbeat. I felt they genuinely enjoyed the fact that I was dining with "them" that night. They should give lessons to all the other restaurants! An incredibly vibrant venue that is so worth calling right now and driving all night to experience! The live Jazz ensemble playing above the amazing bar was over the top! I'll Be Back!"

  • "I planned an evening with my daughters. We needed at nice dinner and drinks. Excellent choice! Late evening dinner meant the bar was going to be buzzing. It was indeed. We loved hearing the music from the live band. The decor always puts my back in time when women were treated like fine Gems. The wine list was amazing. We enjoyed the raw bar, Filet and Sea Bass. Excellent espresso with Cheesecake to close. Nice night and a wonderful staff!"

  • "4 of us dined at Jeff Ruby's just a few nights ago and everything was excellent. We started with a drink in the bar at a high-top table for 4. The bar area was very busy and had great energy. Moving to our table for dinner we started with shrimp cocktail appetizers that were extra large and very good. For dinner everyone ordered a different steak and all were excellent. Each steak was cooked perfectly and we ordered different levels between medium-rate and medium-well. The server kept our drinks filled without being obtrusive and alas, we did not have enough room for dessert. I have been to all of the best steakhouse's in Louisville and can say Jeff Ruby's is a cut above all others in Louisville for my money."

  • "It was a surprise for my wife's birthday and she had never dined there before. From the moment we entered the restaurant we were treated with the upmost respect. The server (and I apologize that I don't remember his name) was excellent, he answered all of our questions about the menu and made my wife feel very important on her special day. The food is excellent and the portion are large. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone, we had a very excellent and special experience."

  • "Jeff Ruby's is a great restaurant for a special occasion or romantic date since it is so fancy. Of course, it is definitely a pricy restaurant, but the food is well worth it. We did have to send back one steak though because it was overcooked, but they compensated by giving us 2 free desserts (although they were out of the creme brulee which is my favorite - seriously, how can you run out?!?). Overall, it was a fun, fancy date night."

  • "I took my guy to Jeff Ruby's Saturday night for dinner. I have been to the bar for drinks and appetizers several times, but never a full dinner. We had a wonderful dining experience from the second we walked in the door until we left! Our server, Jon, was fantastic-and they were very busy. Yet he still managed to make us feel special and welcome. Our sushi, steaks, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and green beans were all great-and plenty too take home in a nice Jeff Ruby's reusable bag. We will be back."

  • "We have been to Jeff Rubys before at Belterra and loved it! This was our first time at the one downtown and it was the best time/anniversary yet! The service was amazing and everyone knew it was our anniversary! Our waiter John was fantastic and his assistant was great! He walked me on his arm to the restroom which I found very curteous and awesome! The food was amazing and we will be celebrating our birthdays and anniversaries at this Jeff Rubys!!!"
