I sign up for a lot of restaurants websites, and in doing so, I get a lot of birthday freebies, but I have noticed recently that those freebies are becoming less and less valuable. When we arrived to Jeff Ruby's and the hostess offered us a birthday photo, i thought here we go they are no exception, we get a picture instead of the usual free dessert, but boy was I wrong. The picture came in a nice little folder and much to my suprise we still got a free dessert! Way to go Jeff Ruby's! They knew it was our anniversary, and everyone came by to wish us well. Our server Michael was awesome, he explained the menu in full detail. He did not miss a beat. The food of course was excellent. My Bone In Steak was superb, full of taste and very juicy. I have to say the Freddie Salad was my overall favorite. The service was great but fairly stuffy, would prefer impeccable service but friendly and jovial. Thought it was interesting how it seemed some tables got more attention than others like they are more important customers although we are all paying the same price for our food. I've had friends mention this too about Jeff Rubys restaurants. Having dinned there a few times I took my wife on a surprise get away weekend and the dinning experience was super. Starting with an over the top shrimp cocktail. Great wine selection along a wide price range. As I enjoy many different dinner selections from beef, lamb to fish I had tried most dishes on other visits. On this visit my Wife and I both went with the 12 oz. filet's .WOW were they great and fixed just the way ordered. The service was top notch and as requested we were seated in a quiet out of the traffic area booth along the back wall, which can make a difference as some of the couples seating is down the middle of a high traffic area.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways go to this restaurantAlways go to this restaurant for their Beef Wellington. Never eat anything else, and do not eat at their other restaurants. They took it off the menu. Waitress was very nice and talked to chef who agreed to make it and it was great as always. I was a little disappointed with the lobster this time though (I did the surf and turf deal that was running through the month of March). The last time I had the lobster it was very sweet and tender. This time it was kind of fishy and chewy. I guess seafood is hit or miss when you're landlocked in the midwest. We were seated right on time for our reservation. Our booth was right next to the kitchen entrance. Lot of traffic from workers in and out calling out "Coming out". Food was awesome. Seemed to take a while for the entrees to come out. But the steaks were cooked just as ordered. Was well worth the wait. Will defiantly be back, but will sit somewhere less busy. The restaurant is elegant and our meals were fantastic. The staff was very professional and polite. We all had superb steaks.
