A word from Jedediah Hawkins
Jedediah Hawkins, housed in the majestically restored 1863 home of Captain Jedediah Hawkins, is quickly becoming the crown jewel in the North Fork’s dining scene. Recognizing that the purity of flavor derives from the ripest, most seasonal ingredients, guests can expect an ever evolving menu that places its emphasis upon local and sustainably grown ingredients.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "We had a delicious dinner of duck wings, beet salad, gnocchi and lamb. To top it off we shared the amazing brownie sundae. Planning on spending Easter there!"

  • "I was hoping for an amazing meal but it was just OK. Appetizers were great (Beet Salad and Duck Wings) but main dishes fell short (Montauk Skate and the Lamb special). And the prices for some of the dishes were a little bit high in my opinion, and I don't mind spending money on great food! I'm glad I checked it out but I'm not sure if I'd come back for dinner."

  • "We had a the patio room to ourselves (party of 6). And the food was absolutely delicious, but the service was the Best!"

  • "I have dined at JH quite a few times through the years & have always been pleased w/ the food as well as the service. our appetizers & entrees were prepared w/creativity, presented nicely & were delicious. the waiter & servers were all very pleasant. I personally prefer the previous décor that complimented this beautiful Victorian building. I do dislike banquette seating - it removes any sense of privacy to one's dining experience, therefore, when I made my reservation I specifically stated "no banquette" seating. our reservations were early & all the tables were empty, yet, much to my surprise & disappointment, we were directed to a banquette seat. it wasn't easy but eventually we were seated at a table, as my reservation requested."

  • "Wonderful restaurant week meal. Will definitely return during non-restaurant week weeks."

  • "The Jedediah Hawkins is a beautiful inn that has been restored and expanded tastefully. The dining rooms are cozy and each has a unique feel to it. Our food was delicious! The portions were sized to allow you to enjoy the entire meal without feeling overstuffed or starved. The flavor combinations were unique and complementary. Service was attentive without being overbearing. The inn has a lovely patio for good weather dining and also has a separate building for private parties and functions. The Jedediah Hawkins is truly a gem on the North Fork of Long Island!"

  • "everything was great. We were seated right away. The service was wonderful and the food was also. It was our anniversary they made it a very nice night."

  • "I was very impressed by this restaurant. The building itself is beautiful, and we were seated in a lovely glass walled and ceilinged area that allowed us to look out at the farm and up at the stars. The food was also delicious, we came for restaurant week and some restaurants really cut back on quality for that week but not Jedediah Hawkins. I will definitely be recommending it to all of my friends."

  • "The good was delicious. The room was set lovely although the tables were a bit close for my taste. The selection on the prix fixe menu was notable. There were some changes from the advertised menu, but overall very good. The foie gras & pork Ragu were amazing! The molten lava cake was too rich for my taste...more fudge-like than cake-ish. Overall a wonderful experience and we are looking friars to going back to try the brunch menu in the future. Was hoping to have "high tea" as I have heard from others how amazing it was, but apparently that isn't offered any longer. Overall, a bit rich for my wallet for a regular spot, but will go back for special occasions."

  • "Had a great lunch with friends while out visiting Long Island's East End wineries. Loved the historic setting with excellent service and food in front of a warm fireplace on a cold day. What could be better!"

  • "We came for dinner after enjoying the music at Pellegrini winery during live on the vine. A ramp around the back of the building made the restaurant easily accessible for a wheelchair. The staff greeted us warmly and had easily accessible seating ready for our party. A fireplace created a warm ambience with comfortable seating. Everyone in our party enjoyed their meal with the duck being a standout."

  • "The food was outstanding as usual. Each bite exploded in your mouth with flavor. The service was tremendous. Just a wonderful experience."

  • "Had a wonderful dinner last night in the garden room. The special veal chop was out of this world. Also enjoyed the "triple citrus" dessert (which included a luscious lime creme brûlée). As always, a great experience."

  • "The restaurant, which used to be outstanding is now only fair. The service was slow but it was really the food I was disappointed in. The salads were quite good, but the main courses were too salty and somewhat over-buttered. Vegetables were handled well, but no better than the restaurant around the corner which charges about half as much."

  • "Me and my girlfriend went here for valentines day and end everything was PERFECT. The service the food and the mood we were seated by a warm fireplace and there was a nice vibe in the room it was alive but not loud perfect for a romantic night."

  • "We had a great meal considering the Valentine's Day crowds. When we arrived the valet was no where to be found and with a 7:30 reservation we weren't seated until after 8pm. Aside from these issues the food and service were great. We had a lovely meal and didn't feel rushed or a lack in quality due to the holiday evening."

  • "It just never disappoints, from the warm greeting from manager Colin, to the fun and friendly bartender Wes, and the food by Chef Rich, and Kyle is always amazing. Such a beautiful place and we go there often, and so do a lot of our friends. There are other places to eat on the North Fork, but when I go to them, I always think how I wish I had just gone to Jedediah's instead."

  • "My husband and I have dined here before when the original chef was in the kitchen. Now, with someone new running the kitchen (the 3rd, or so I've heard), the food and dining experience are equally as good as when the original chef was there. Interesting place with a bit of history. The food is fresh, much of which is grown in the sizable garden on premises. Brunch is great especially if you sit in the garden room."

  • "Usually when we venture to the North Fork, we go to the NORTH FORK TABLE and INN - but this time we decided to give the much talked about Jedediah Hawkins in a try. It's very lovely, completely different ambiance than the NFTI - and perhaps we will return, but I have to say it's not as good as the NFTI - but it is easier to get a reservation there."

  • "The duck was excellent. My companion really liked the lobster risotto special. The only negative was the Six Point beer which had a vaguely sour taste (citrus?). I merely mentioned it to my waitress, and I was offered gratis a glass of very good pinot noir. (a better pairing with duck anyway!) I have eaten here many times over the years and will continue to do so."

  • "By the end of the first course, I couldn't wait to make my next reservation! The wine pairing was inspired. Always a favorite for its cuisine, JH leaves my taste buds wanting to give the chef a standing ovation for a most savory and sophisticated meal."

  • "Really wonderful dining experience. Friendly staff and expertly prepared local food with a wide range of options on the menu make this place one of a kind in the area. My wife and I are always looking for the best hidden gems in the Long Island restaurant scene and we were so pleased to find this one!"

  • "What a wonderful place! We thoroughly enjoyed out evening, from drinks in the speakeasy to dinner by the fireplace. The building is beautiful, food was amazing and service was on point and very professional. It was a great nite and we will definite be back."

  • "After reading many stunning reviews over the years we finally had a chance to try Jedidiah Hawkins and it did not live up to its former glorious reviews. The service was amateurish, ( the bartender actually had the nerve to ask us to "take care of him" if we wanted the bar tab transferred to the check! The food was just okay and the pricing high. We tried several entrees and other than the duck which was excellent, the others were lackluster. Strip Steak fair, short ribs poor and fatty, salmon mundane. The salads were ordinary and somewhat limp and the desserts were basic. Prices were high. Most surprising was to find this beautiful space on the north fork only serving a few of the great local wines. The perfect locavore opportunity. Why?"

  • "We attended the first Session in the Speakeasy hosted by Joshua Wesson, sommelier, author, and expert wine pairer, and were treated to 5 delicious courses prepared by Chef Rich Kanowsky, paired with 10 delicious local wines, 2 per course, chosen by Mr Wesson. The evening was a wonderful opportunity to learn how to expand the boundaries of wine/food pairing while enjoying perfectly prepared local dishes, each served with two different wines and witty, enjoyable commentary. We were very happy we went."

  • "It was my birthday and my husband surprised me by taking me to Jedediah Hawkins which has been a favorite of mine for a while. Everything was absolutely perfect. We were greeted by the Inn Keeper/Manager; Colin and what a pleasure he was. He made us feel right at home. We liked that the menu was clear and concise with well thought out items and not a barrage of to many choices sloppily thrown together. The food was spectacular, from the appetizers to the desert and everything in between was spot on. The service was fantastic and the overall feel of the Inn/Restaurant was absolutely charming. Thank you for making my birthday special and one to remember."

  • "This place is an absolute gem......from the moment we walked in we felt at home. The manager, Colin, made us feel so welcome and helped us to pick a perfect wine for our anniversary dinner. We started with the soup and poached apple salad which were both delicious. For dinner we had the duck (cooked perfectly) and the scallops (highly reccomend). In between courses the manager checked in with us and made sure we were happy. I feel this is a nice touch bc we go out to eat a lot and very rarely have a had a manager be so attentive. We were too full for dessert but we will be back very soon. It's hard to make my wife happy but this place was amazing! Thank you to Colin and all the staff for making our nite so special!!"

  • "We had an amazing experience! The place is absolutely gorgeous and the food and service with rt on par with the atmosphere. Our waitress was very sweet and professional We had the latkas and soup to start which were awesome. For dinner we had the scallops and strip which were both delicious. My only complaint would be that they were out of a few menu items we had wanted to try but we will definitely be back. We cant wait to come back with friends!!"

  • "Lovely restored building, especially from outside. The inside decor is a bit too "modern" for the building. The solarium can be quite attractive in the summer, though a bit cold in the winter, and noisy when busy (all those hard surfaces). The food is cooked well, but some dishes (lamb shanks, striped bass) were a bit underseasoned. The squash soup was delicious. The new chef (Rich Wardeleaski, but I don't guarantee the spelling) is at this point not at the level of some of the excellent past chefs (Tom Schaudel, Keith Luce, Lia Fallon), but has promise. Service was a bit slow, but generally good."

  • "I had a lovely brunch on Saturday in the solarium. The sea bass was delicious and the service was friendly and attentive. Despite the cool weather outside it was cozy and warm in the solarium with the same extraordinary view of the farmland beyond."

  • "My wife and I recently dined (and stayed at their B&B) at this outstanding restaurant and enjoyed a most wonderful dinner. Our table was located in a cozy room with a fireplace, and although the dining room was busy, the noise level was moderate making for a romantic evening. One of our appetizers was their signature duck wings and though we generally adhere to a heart-healthy diet, they were well worth the cheat! The portion was generous and the wings were finger-lickin' good! For entrees, my wife had the stripped bass and I the NY strip steak and both were excellently prepared with a substantial side of vegetables. All this with a locally produced bottle of wine made for special meal. We barely had room for dessert! Worth a visit!"
