Jean-Robert's TableFresh, simple or fancyOn my first visit to Jean-Robert's Table, I opted for a business lunch. The Ruby Trout BLT was fresh and delicate yet substantial. My dining partner and I bonded over the light, crusty baguette on which it was served. "Why can't we eat this every day?" The beef tartare was an impulse. My mother used to eat what she called Cannibal Sandwiches, a far cruder version of this dish, so I had to try it. Again, couldn't be fresher and packed with lovely herbs and spices. The service was informative and attentive, without being intrusive and the decor was tasteful, yet lively. I feel as though I got my money's worth, even after paying for my partner's lunch, and am sure my excellent taste in restaurants will reflect well upon me in the future.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOur favorite places for dinnerOur favorite places for dinner in Downtown Cincinnati. The service and food are always consistent, and the specialities for the evening are usually longer than the standard menu.......the Vegitarian dish is always innovative, fresh and surprising.
Looking forward to our next visit.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a great spotWe took an out of town friend who's a foodie and all of us had a wonderful experience. Best of all the server took a cue from us and provided leisurely but excellent service. Fod was awesome esp the surf and turf tartar. We'll be back!6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMService marred a nice eveningOur food was great, and the service was fine, until our entrees were served. Our server then largely went AWOL. I finally had to stop her by name to order dessert a good. Something was happening in the kitchen and with the table behind us that was taking a lot of attention, but unfortunate that we were penalized for that. We'll try it again, as the food was very good, but were disappointed with the service. They should also turn off the TV's if they want to create a fine dining atmosphere.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Way to ImpressThis was a perfect choice for entertaining a business associate from out of town. The variety on the printed menu is exceeded only by the extensive offering of nightly specials. I had the salmon which was cooked and seasoned to perfection, The portions were more than adequate and creatively plated. The atmosphere was relaxed, service was attentive without hovering and the decor, especially the art, made it a very enjoyable evening.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food/expensiveNice atmosphere with good food and service. Food was expensive though.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely perfect way toAbsolutely perfect way to celebrate 30th wedding anniversary with my wife. Quiet with soft music in background. Exceptional waiter Jim guided us through the courses and gave details of what was in each. Early Monday evening with few diners was just right for us.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMJean Roberts Table-the foodJean Roberts Table-the food was oustanding and I couldn't have asked for a better meal. The staff was excellent.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderfulEverything was excellent. Food was superb, waiter - Jim was perfect, Mary Lou, as usual, was charming and available.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always the food here isAs always the food here is wonderful and the atmosphere delightful. We enjoy coming. This night though, the service was too long. We arrived at 8:00, and the end of our meal was at 11:00. There were long gaps where nothing happened and we wondered if they forgot our order. This has not happened before, so maybe they were short of staff that night.
We would go back, and give it another try. We like all things Jean Robert!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food- pretentious serviceThis was our first visit - for a special birthday. The attention to detail was impressive - from the reservation follow-up to a an outgoing and knowledgable hostess who ensured a good table . The food was innovative and high quality. Our party was a world-traveled group - including significant dining experience across France. For some reason, the demeanor of the waitress however can best be described as haughty! Most unfortunate for a restaurant that is trying to offer a gourmet meal in a relaxed setting. Dining at these prices is a total experience - making attitude of the wait staff almost as important as the food.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMBirthday dinnerWe had a wonderful evening at Table. The food and wine were excellent! But let's be honest I could have lived in the bread basket. I felt like I was back in Paris. Hot, crusty French bread. I finally told my Dad to stop shoving it in his face! I would suggest ordering the scallop entree, and summer salad. It was divine! I look forward to returning again very soon.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMOne nit-picPerfect, except the ambient temperature was mid 60's. Even with everything else perfect (and it was), it was hard to enjoy through chattering teeth. It was a huge relief to go out side afterwards and warm up. It's not the only restaurant with this problem. I have concluded many set the temperature so their hard working wait staff don't get too warm. Next time (and we will come back) we'll bring sweaters, even on a hot, humid day, such as this one.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways satisfyingMy wife and I (and often our two children ages 14 and 11) have eaten here about 6 times. We have always left with smiles on our faces and a great meal to remember. Excellent wines, great service, and unique foods to enjoy.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMHappy BirthdayI share a birthday with a friend. for the past three years we have been coming to celebrate our mutual Birthday. We have fully enjoyed the dining experience.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was wonderful.Everything was wonderful. Wait staff was exemplary as usual.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMFood always impressesI cannot eat here without getting the surf and turf tartare appetizer, which is one of the best dishes I have ever eaten. I had a soft shell crab entree and my husband had the beef tenderloin special; both were amazing. I can't wait to come back!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMbetter than everThe menu has changed and for the better. We started with a salad which was tasty, a vinaigrette dressing over greens. The Salmon was delicious, crispy on the outside, moist on the inside ( and no sauces ! ), with fingerling potatoes, very good. The napoleon dessert was really good, great amount of strawberries on top, and light. I ordered a siraz, but was served something else. I had a glass of the Rhone ( french wine ) and that was much better. Great meal. ready to go back5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMLunch for four, with two vegetarianLunch for four, with two vegetarians. We all loved it5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was a truly great diningThis was a truly great dining experience. the food was outstanding we had the four course dinner and each course was superb. the restaurant was quiet so we could talk and the service was very attentive.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMHighly RecommendedFood was superbly prepared and presented, and even the fussy eaters in our group enjoyed themselves. Service was top-notch. Fancy food, without the stuffiness or being overpriced. We'll definitely be back!5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMFrench ConnectionMy wife and I have dined in Paris, Reims (Le Parc Les Crayeres) and Chartres. Although Jean-Robert's Table doesn't match the ambience of dining in these places his food is superior to anything we were served in France. Always a delightful experience!5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMEvening was great, food andEvening was great, food and service were very good. Vibrant and fun evening.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent!!!!!Was there for my girlfriend's birthday and would recommend restaurant. The food and the service were excellent.I can not think of anything negative to say. Loved the place.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMggr63Outstanding French Food, with seasonal dishes. Always worth the trip. Make sure to make a reservation. Jean Robert is truly an artist.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent, except for reservationsJean Robert's Table has joined the club of arrogant restaurants who don't believe that a customer's original reservation is sufficient. I was irritated to find that the message I was left to confirm my reservation insisted that I call them back--a practice I call "remaking my reservation." It's bad enough that the message this sends me is that they presume I am irresponsible and will not honor the commitment I made. Even worse, when I reluctantly returned the call not ten minutes later, I got their voicemail: a long message that ended by telling me that I could not leave a message for them! Calling yet again, I finally got a live voice, who, without even allowing me to say a word, put me on hold! This is NOT the way to treat customers!5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMFour course tasting was aFour course tasting was a great deal for the quality and quantity. Everything was perfect and our server Alex was professional and attentive.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAMAZING!!The food was excellent, as well as the service! Perfect for a date night, although it was a little cold in the restaurant. I am French, and I visit France often, and Jean-Robert's Table does a fantastic job re-creating authentic French dishes, with a little flare. I will definitely go again!5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat ExperienceWe were celebrating our 41st Wedding Anniversary, just the two of us. It was a wonderful experience. Everything was great. I would like to give special recognition to Jim, our waiter. He most certainly enhance our dining experience. Thanks to all, by the way the food was super.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWine by the glass list wasWine by the glass list was very nice. Food was delicious! Service impeccable!5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMMy boyfriend and I had a greatMy boyfriend and I had a great experience at this restaurant. The food was amazing and the server was very polite. I love the option of making your reservation online, it was very convenient. The restaurant went above and beyond to give us a dessert on the house, which i'm assuming was for my boyfriends birthday.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWe will return, but ...Jean Robert continues to amaze with the local yet diverse ingredients in the menu. The server was extremely knowledgeable out the menu, history of the restaurant and even the artwork used ... very impressive. Overall, my wife and I left the restaurant satisfied (not stuffed), and full of compliments for the chef. A 9.0 out of 10.
The only think that took away from the experience was that our comments on the open table were not acknowledged (a milestone birthday).5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a perfect getaway!!!We had a wonderful evening. The food was magnificent! Our waiter was so personable and attentive, probably the best waiter that we have ever had. They were very accommodating for my wheelchair and any needs that I had. Our waiter even had someone in the kitchen cut up my food so that my husband didn't have to take extra time from his meal to do that. The chef came out to greet us at the end of our evening and remembered us from visits to his other restaurant, over 4 years ago. We will return and take friends.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMbest place to dine lunch or dinnerI love this restaurant. The food is always perfect, creative and it always taste so good. It is a place you want to keep coming back to eat.
Tanya5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding Queen City CuisineThe food, service and ambience are unique in this area. I had heard about Jean-Robert's Table from a Cincy area resident and we were not disappointed in any aspect of our dining experience, beginning with very reasonable and friendly valet parking, to a waiting drink at the full service bar to the round of appetizers and entrees and desert. The cuisine is very adventurous without being stuffy. The table side service is impeccable. I would recommend J-R's Table for special occasions, business meals and just for the enjoyment of a one-of-a-kind experience in Cincinnati. It is somewhat expensive, but worth the price. Don't go if you are looking for cheap because you will be disappointed.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMOur experience was very good,Our experience was very good, the food so enjoyable but service was a bit cold and dispassionate. Our waiter was definitely not going to make any small talk. He could have given us every detail about the menu but that is where it ended. We would absolutely go back but hope for a different waiter.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMMagnifique!Everything was impeccable. The food was prepared to perfection, the service was friendly and not pretentious, and the crowd had many repeat customers--always a good sign! Authentically French without the tiny dining room. Truly better than most of the food that I have eaten in France! Magnifique!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding food/service/menu.Outstanding food/service/menu. I had the Pork Trio and my wife had the Rock Bass special. Portions were good. Wine selections were a little pricey. It was dark and we were seated near the kitchen so there was some foot traffic.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMHad the steak salad, whileHad the steak salad, while is had great flavor it was not tender, was difficult to cut.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMI go to JR's Table for manyI go to JR's Table for many special occasions and to show off to people coming in from out of town. The waiters are present, but not over present and the ambiance is great. But most of all the meal is delicious from bread, appetizers, to main course and dessert. It's my favorite restaurant in Cincinnati.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and service.Excellent food and service. Our waiter was very helpful. We had the onion soup and a goat cheese onion tart with asparagus which was very tasty. The mussels were delicious and even the French Castle burger was a work of art. The wine selections looked impressive although we opted for wine by the glass. Well worth a visit if you are downtown.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMExceptional experience! ServiceExceptional experience! Service was impressively polished. Food was a true delight. Felt like finding a cozy little bistro in Paris. Can't wait to return!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThanks so much!We have eaten at Jean Robert's Table numerous times and decided to make it our choice for our anniversary dinner. Why? Because the food is always fresh, the meat perfectly seasoned and prepared, the sauces scrumptious! Everything was simply delicious.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMOur food was flawless, greatOur food was flawless, great taste and presentation.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutley one of if not theAbsolutley one of if not the best in Cincinnati and the region. Too bad Jean-Robert couldn't keep the Maisonette's 30+ year reputation and then 5 star rating, it is deserved.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have been to Jean Robert'sWe have been to Jean Robert's Table several times. The food and the service always are very good, but this visit was the best. The food--all courses--was to die for. Service was attentive on a relatively slow night (Monday); everyone was friendly and attentive. This is a great spot, either for a casual foodie experience or for a special occasion.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful welcoming hostess,Wonderful welcoming hostess, efficient and knowledgable service, perfect downtown location with close access to the Music Hall for evening performances, and the food is delicious, imaginative, and graciously and promptly served.
