Diner Reviews
  • "Have eaten at Table multiple times and loved it, but this time was the BEST. Why? Jean Robert was cooking :) An appetizer of escargot, delicious red rhone wine, followed by sole were the order of the day for me, and my friend had the skate wings. Fantastic. Cannot speak highly enough of our experience and high recommend Table - especially if Jean is cooking."

  • "Even with all the new downtown restaurants in Cincinnati vying for our few lunches and dinners as we visit the City from time to time we wouldn't miss spending at least one of those meals at JRT."

  • "My husband and I don't get out by ourselves nearly enough, so when we do, we want it to be special. When we choose Jean-Robert's Table, we are never disappointed, so we chose to celebrate our anniversary there. Chef Jean-Robert is a genius with food. Mary Lou and the rest of the staff go above and beyond to make every evening memorable. Cincinnati is truly lucky to have Jean-Robert and his wonderful team. Thank you for your part in our wonderful anniversary!"

  • "We really enjoyed ourselves. The food was terrific, as expected, but the kitchen was slow. We were seated at 9 for an 8:30 reservation and our food didn't arrive until 10. The joint was jumping, no doubt, but it was a bit of a wait. Still, we will return though we are more likely to dine at the bar next time."

  • "The menu is quite exhaustive and the daily specials are a real gem. The appetizers are divine! The croque monsieur is absolutely delicious. Plentiful portion sizes match the fare associated with each meal. Jean-Robert's Table serves up a bountiful meal for an appropriate price!"

  • "Our party of four had a fantastic meal with great service from Stephan. Specials are always outstanding and that was again the case. Loved the Red special salad topped with lobster, the salmon duo and the the seafood special. Others enjoyed the steak special and the Burger, which my wife dreams about. Fantastic!"

  • "We had guests from California we took to the restaurant, primarily because I knew the food was good and I read live jazz would be performed. Our friends raved about the Morels in the cream sauces. We had the Reds salad, fun and spicy. My husband had the scallops, our friends had the duck breast and the sea bass. I had the salmon wrapped in bacon. The others raved about their dinners. All of us loved the sauces. My salmon had a bit of fishy taste. The music wasn't jazz but was nice but hard to hear. The chocolate mousse with the orange sorbet was fabulous."

  • "We have been coming here since it opened. This restaurant is first class from the time you walk in until you walk out. The food is World Class but very reasonable prices for what you get. The Hostess Mary Lou is congenial and always with a warm greeting. Our server Ann has been serving us for many years. A great restaurant for any occasion."

  • "Jean-Robert is one of the best in town - my wife and I have never been disappointed with what is on the menu, or the specials of the day."

  • "In town for work and our hotel was around the block from 'Table'. We wanted a spot that was walking distance and were looking for good wine and good eats. We found it! We made a reservation and had to wait a bit for our table to clear, about 15-20 past our reservation time. The bar & restaurant was packed (Fri nite) which was a good sign. The bartenders were friendly and helpful while attending to a thirsty crowd in the busy bar. Then we were seated and the server could not have been more knowledgeable and articulate about all the specials and items on the menu. Turns out, he was also the sommelier - score! Everything we tried was divine. Must love butter, the way of the French. There were no complaints from our party of 4!"

  • "JR's T just keeps getting better. We had a wonderfully creative and delicious meal with the food priced well below what has become the standard for restaurants in JR's class. WIne prices are about average for the class."

  • "Absolutely one of the best restaurants in the Mid-West. We've tried almost very entrée on the menu and many specials...all have been outstanding. We are truly lucky to this restaurant in Cincinnati!"

  • "The quail was a little dry and boring; it seemed to need additional seasoning. The cold radicchio salad that was served with the quail was dominated by an extremely strong white wine vinegar taste, basically to the point of being inedible. We did really enjoy the foie gras first couse though. The duck breast was tough and chewy and looked a little on the medium-well side. A sharp knife wasn't provided which made it frustrating to try to get through. With so many delicious components listed as being present on each plate it was very surprising that none of them really shined through. The final product seemed to be a little noisy, confusing, and average. Didn't care for the apple tart at all either; it was sort of bland."

  • "We really enjoyed the restaurant. The food was delicous. We had the sole special and loved it. There were many specials that night and all sounded very good. The chef came into the restaurant while we were there."

  • "This was my second experience and it was delightful. Our server, Alex, was the best. So knowledgable about the menu and wine. i brought someone new who is a seasoned veteran of fine dining. He rated his meal as a 10. High praise for Jean Robert and his innovative menu. I loved all the seasonal ingredients. This is a must visit for those who enjoy food elevated to the highest level. Recommend 100%."

  • "The food was great, the service was very good and the ambiance was very good as well. One disappointment and that was the $7.00 charge for a liter of Perrier water. I think that was way over on a mark up as they get it a a discounted price."

  • "Great service; our waiter couldn't have been nicer or more thoughtful. Superb food and bread was special. Coffee, too, was excellent, and it was decaf!"

  • "The service was impeccable and the food was delicious. The menu was still a fall menu and it would be wonderful to change to more spring vegetables."

  • "We dined before a Shakespeare show and were tight on time. We were promptly served delectable snails, moist and large scallops and tender , juicy chicken The flavor combinations melted in your mouth. The room was warm and inviting, with a satisfied crowd. To trump it all, we were lucky enough to be entertained from a 3 piece band of skilled musicians. We honestly felt as if we were in a quaint cafe in Cannes France! Loved the night and regretted that we could not stay to enjoy another glass of fine wine. We highly recommend this neighborhood gem.oh yeah. ..Also offered valet service!"

  • "We started with Tanguray Martinis which were excellent. We followed with the lobster bisque which was also excellent, and included large pieces of lobster. My friend had seafood cakes while I had the filet. My friend approved of his lunch while my steak was outstanding, and I particularly liked the potatoes au-gratin presented as a small cake. We looked at the dessert menu, but decided to pass. My friend finished with a double expresso while I had coffee. The only negative aspect of the lunch was that we were initially given two slices of bread. When I asked for more bread, I was told it was in the oven. When no one arrived with more bread, I asked another person (not our waitress in either case) we did receive more bread."

  • "Our dining experience was memorable. Serendipitously the three of us all chose one of the specials - the braised lamb shank. It was greeted with great enthusiasm and highlighted a marvelous evening's celebration. Our waitress was extremely efficient, knowledgeable, and most accommodating. Kudos to her and the restaurant."

  • "I went with a friend for lunch and ordered the potato soup, which the server told me was vegan, and a salad. It came promptly but when I had taken about 7 or 8 bites, I realized it was the broccoli cream soup. It wasn't a huge problem for me (although a vegan might have felt differently), but it was annoying because I had given up dairy for Lent. In addition, our food took a very long time to come. My friend had the omelet and I had a salad, so nothing required extensive preparation. And it certainly wasn't busy - there were a lot of empty tables. It was disappointing because I go there often and was not expecting such a lapse."

  • "Wehad a wonderful dinner at Jean-Roberts Table. Service was surperb! Food was delicious. We eat out often but have avoided this resturant in the past because my hisband doesn't enjoy French food, which is something I cannot understand! For my birthday I decided he'd just have to deal with it! We both thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Our waiter and the wonderful flexibility of the chef made it so easy for my husband to find an entree & side dish that he loved. We had a completely delightful evening. I suggest that everyone give JR Table a try! We will be back!"

  • "One of our go-to spots whenever we visit downtown. My only complaint this time around, they had us out the door in under 90 minutes which was a bit rushed IMHO."
    Dined on 3/15/2014
  • "An overall good experience that suffered from several easily avoidable setbacks. The hostess was positively rude, the service initially rather slow, the decor of the restaurant is poor (and paper table cloths never speak well for a dining establishment), the appetizer arrived lukewarm, and the long list of specials should be written up, not recited at the table. That said, the main courses, albeit a bit busy with side dishes, were very good, and the wine list features many good French selections by the glass."

  • "We came in expected great food but my wife and I were very disappointed. Of the 5 food items we ate the French bread and my entre (duck breast) were the only two things of the caliber we'd expect of this kind of restaurant. The lobster salad appetizer, sea scallops, and apple tart dessert were lackluster. I'll highlight that the tart (which we should have sent back) tasted like it had sat out for 10 days. For the money, there are much better food options in Cincinnati."

  • "I had been trying to get a reservation for about 8 months and was delighted to finally get one on the same day I was attending the International Wine Festival. I ordered the lobster salad appetizer which was better than I could ever have imagined with large chunks of lobster and fresh orange segments that made it so refreshing. I also had the short ribs which were delicious but the lobster was so filling I took most of the ribs to go. I will definitely go back again when I'm not too full to try the desserts. I was equally pleased with the wine list which had a nice selection and was very reasonably priced."

  • "We have dined here numerous times and the food and service never disappoint. I hope they never take the surf and turf tartare off the menu because it is one of my all-time favorite dishes. They always have an extensive list of specials as well, which the servers can describe to you without having to look at any notes - very professional. My only wish is that they would change the birds-on-heads artwork all over the walls. I find them distracting and in complete opposition to the look and feel of the place, which is otherwise quite pleasant to look at."
