  • "On our mini-honeymoon, we decided to treat ourselves to Jean-Robert's. Based on the reviews & credentials of the chef, I was really disappointed with what we experienced. We started with a bottle of wine, which was probably the best thing that we had. As an appetizer we ordered the duck macaroni and cheese, which was cold when served & in need of salt and pepper; something I would never expect from a restaurant of this caliber. The meal continued in the same way through entrees (fish) & dessert (creme brûlée). All of the dishes were just ok. Our server was friendly & knowledgeable, but our actually service was mediocre. Our water glasses remained empty & the background noise was comprised of staff swearing & talking about getting f*ed up."

  • "I love the comfort of table. One of the few places in which you can actually hold a conversation. The lunch menu is a perfect combination of old and modern bistro , with steak tartar , liver, and skate vs a big juicy hamburger. I can't get enuf of this menu. I want to try everything. It has made me decide to bring back the two hour lunch.. Meet, linger, have a glass of wine and order a large midday meal. The perfect place for business or friends."

Following his suggestion I ordered the skate which was perfectly prepared and presented. This restaurant is a bit pricey but well worth it. A great place for a special evening."

We had the foie gras appetizer, skate fish and halibut entrees and stayed after for a drink at the bar, just to bask a bit in our enjoyment.   • "We fell in love with this place our first visit 2 months ago so we thought we would give it another try. We had early reservations so the usual crowd was light. That evening their list of off menu items rivaled their regular menu. The waiter explained each in great detail. As we settled into a glass of wine we could not help but notice the music, it was loud. It did detract from the otherwise great ambience of the place. We started with Foie Gras and Shrimp Cole Slaw off menu appetizers. Unfortunately the splendid flavors where overwhelmed by a generous amount of salt. Our entree's of Halibut for my wife and a nice small filet for me did not disappoint. Yes, we will be back the flavors are just to good to pass up."

  • "We dined here for our anniversary and have to say the food was very good; a little lacking in salt / seasoning, but aside from that the food was spot on. We enjoyed a number of the specials and the chocolate tart was amazing. The best thing about this place though was the service; our waiter was fantastic; not only did he know the menu, but knew the wines and what paired with which dish. Go for the food, but definitely take advantage of the service; you don't see quality servers like we had in many restaurants any more."

  • "We recently dined at Jean-Robert's table and were very disappointed in the experience overall. The food was good but the waiter was dreadful - sloppy looking, inattentive and not well informed about the menu. In fact, he mispronounced several of the dishes. And we literally had to flag him down several times once he finally got food to the table for things like silverware and a second glass of wine. We have always had such lovely experiences at Jean Robert's restaurants and one of the hallmarks was a wait staff that was pleasant and attentive but not fawning. This was quite the opposite. Not sure we will go there again."

  • "As a non-native Cincinnatian, I've always heard how great Chef Robert was, but honestly, I didn't believe the hype... until now! I typically am a little underwhelmed by French cuisine but this dining experience was phenomenal! Service was spectacular as well! The only part of this restaurant that needs improvement (in my opinion) is the atmosphere/decor, it could use some updating. A pleasant treat to the end of the meal, was that as we were walking out of the restaurant, Chef Robert followed us out and thanked us for dining with him... which was a wonderful touch and added that last "smile" to a great nite."

  • "We dined here in a group of 6 for a good-bye dinner a couple weeks ago & while pricey, the food was phenomenal! I had the duck mac & cheese, the house red wine, the scallops, & the mousse for dessert & was pleased with everything! The only downside to the visit was the hostess as she was quite rude. She gave us disparaging looks for accidentally booking 2 reservations and when a couple ladies at the table hadn't had the chance to put their napkins on their laps yet, she did it for them. I have never seen someone physically put a napkin in a guest's lap before, they were quite taken aback. I truly enjoyed the food, but I definitely could have done without the interference of my fellow diners."

  • "Jean Robert never gets himself in a rut. His varied bistro menu, combined with excellent specials, keeps it interesting no matter how many times you visit. He never lets his standards slip, either. I've never experienced -- and never heard of anyone else experiencing -- a less than first-rate meal there. Of course, you get what you pay for -- so our last dinner for three came out at $185, not counting tip or valet fee. And worth every buck. (Much wine, of course.) One thing I especially treasure about this restaurant is its expertise with seafood. In a midwestern city like Cincinnati, overcooked seafood -- especially fish -- is an everyday hazard. Not at The Table. Jamais! We had salmon, sole and soft-shell crab. All heavenly. "

The atmosphere is not too stuffy, despite top quality food. The noise level was such that we could have a meaningful conversation without yelling, but not too quiet.   • "As usual, the food at J.R.'s Table was wonderful! The smiling waiter first wanted to tell us the specials, but we asked if we could order a drink first. It took nearly 10 minutes for our drinks to arrive.........we eventually heard the specials for the night, but the length of time between ordering and receiving our food was waaay too long. 3 1/2 hours for dinner was too long, especially since the other couple had an hour+ drive to their home. The server was inattentive, seemed more concerned with a big smile than taking care of us. All that being said, we will definitely go back because Jean-Robert is a very special chef, a very special person and we appreciate all he has done for the culinary atmosphere in Cincinnati."
