I took two business lunch guests there then made sure to follow up with personal outings there. I am a frequent visitor to the tropics and no where have I seen a better use of coconut than with Jean George's coconut sorbet. I was transported, like you see in commercials, instantly to the islands. The food was 5 star all the way. This place is still awesome. White table cloths, professional servers and waiters. Would make weekly trips there if I could. "

What can i say that has not been said before...fantastic fantastic fantastic...had the salt and pepper sweetbreads followed by fish and veal scallopini omg was it ever delectable. By first encounter with the herbcrusted fish in vegetables was from their vancouver location "the market" and i was hooked. Came in the fall of last year and tried it at JG and wow exactly the same, out of this ballpark! The flavours from vegetables and the broth was just simply stunnnning. So of course i had to have it again for sunday. Now for Monday lunch we booked the earliest available 11:45 and mentioned that we had a strict schedule to keep and sure enough they got us out on time, and yet again the food was #1. "

  • "As soon as I walked into J-G I thought that the decor was excellent. The white themed rooms reflected natural light exquisitely, and the chandelier in the main dining room was something to see. The service turned out to be similarly beautiful. Coordinated waiters serve food, remove plates, and set utensils all in unison, which makes the whole meal feel like an elaborate dance. The food itself was fabulous. I ordered from the taste of spring menu. Their advice advice as to which courses were lighter fare and which were heavier was helpful so that I could better gauge what I wanted to order. The courses themselves were stunning in both taste and presentation. The tuna appetizer was a highlight. Loved the dining experience, and will return!"

This visit coincided with publication of NYT review that gave JG four stars. I was curious to see what new miracles had been conjured up by the maestro. We selected the tasting menu of chef's classics (as announce in the menu) . The meal was beautifully served. The soup of young garlic and frogs leg was superb, as was the egg with caviar but caramelized cauliflower overwhelmed the delicate flavor of the scallops; smoked squab and the lamb simply did not come up to expectations. Even at $198, I would give the chef's tasting menu another shot. "

The dining room has a simple, elegant decor that includes the views of Central Park and Columbus Circle. The food is delicious and so thoughtfully prepared and served it's almost a shame to eat it! It was my sister's 60th birthday and the staff made sure it was a special occasion for all of us. We all had perma-smile after eating there for days afterwards. I look forward to returning to Jean-Georges soon."

  • "The menu is limited. The staff were rude, intrusive and unprofessional. The wine is poorly stored, it took the sommelier three attempts to get one bottle right by her own admission. The starters were great - tuna and sashimi, but after that everything went downhill. Don't order the duck - while generous in its proportions - it's undercooked, bland and difficult to enjoy. Don't try and have a private conservation or an intimate moment as the staff are always in your face and eavesdropping. We've been here many times before over the last 10 years and it was really disappointing to see how much things have slipped."

Price of the lunch menu is very reasonable and worth trying out - choice of 2 dishes of appetizers and entrées for $38.00 For mains, we had black sea bass crusted with nuts and seeds, as well as the parmesan crusted chicken with artichokes, basil & lemon butter.For dessert, we split the Chocolate plate. It is absolutely delicious and in addition to your dessert offering, you also receive a small plate of petit fours, which are quite miniature but oh so delicious."

They were a little late with the reservation, so the kept us posted and bought us drinks – painless – I’d go back and wait just for that kind of service. They fed us too much – but it was the best food ever – so we left so fat it was amazing. Bill was 600 for 2 and we drank reasonably. When you leave, you feel like the money you spent here was well worth it! Can’t wait to go back!"
