A word from Jean Georges
Jean-Georges opened in 1997 to critical acclaim. The jewel of Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s empire, the restaurant offers the very best in fine dining. Consistently awarded four stars by the New York Times and three Michelin stars, Jean-Georges presents exquisitely crafted dishes blending French, American, and Asian influences. Chef Jean-Georges is a master at maintaining the essence of ingredients while using them inventively to produce the best flavor. Jean-Georges’ chic and intimate dining room was redesigned by Thomas Juul-Hansen, with striking lighting by L’Observatoire. Impeccable service, tableside preparations, and floor-to-ceiling windows with stunning views of Central Park and Columbus Circle all contribute to an unforgettable dining experience. Jean-Georges offers a three-course prix-fixe menu and two six-course tasting menus: a traditional tasting of the chef’s signature dishes, and a seasonal tasting featuring fresh market ingredients.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "This was our second meal at JG and another truly outstanding experience. Service again the best I have ever experienced anywhere, truly a delight to watch such a well oiled, precision machine work . Food tremendous, so good almost defies description. This is my favorite restaurant in the world. Truly a special place"

  • "I have eaten in a lot of top restaurants around the world and this was easily one of my favorites. The whole experience was luxurious without being stuffy or smug. The dining room has a simple, elegant decor that includes the views of Central Park and Columbus Circle. The food is delicious and so thoughtfully prepared and served it's almost a shame to eat it! It was my sister's 60th birthday and the staff made sure it was a special occasion for all of us. We all had perma-smile after eating there for days afterwards. I look forward to returning to Jean-Georges soon."

  • "The menu is limited. The staff were rude, intrusive and unprofessional. The wine is poorly stored, it took the sommelier three attempts to get one bottle right by her own admission. The starters were great - tuna and sashimi, but after that everything went downhill. Don't order the duck - while generous in its proportions - it's undercooked, bland and difficult to enjoy. Don't try and have a private conservation or an intimate moment as the staff are always in your face and eavesdropping. We've been here many times before over the last 10 years and it was really disappointing to see how much things have slipped."

  • "Perfect dining experience -- especially for lunch which is a great deal in the main dining room. Price of the lunch menu is very reasonable and worth trying out - choice of 2 dishes of appetizers and entrées for $38.00 For mains, we had black sea bass crusted with nuts and seeds, as well as the parmesan crusted chicken with artichokes, basil & lemon butter. For dessert, we split the Chocolate plate. It is absolutely delicious and in addition to your dessert offering, you also receive a small plate of petit fours, which are quite miniature but oh so delicious."

  • "The ambiance of the dining area is relaxed yet elegant. Good combination of romantic but not stuffy or haughty. Chef creates a masterpiece for your palate with every bite. The crab risotto was the best I have ever eaten. After the final course, which is more food than I could possibly eat, it was difficult to chose which was the best. We all agree that it was the best dining experience we have ever had from the restaurant seating, the servers, the explanation of each dish, the wine pairings, and the naturally the meal."

  • "Had the sping taster menu and it was absolute fantastic, especially the butter poached lobster. Jean George's aren't cheap, but compared to the gourmet restaurant in Northern Europe where we live it is a fantastic value. Will visit again next time we're in New York."

  • "We’ve been to many high-end restaurants of similar status/caliber… Jean-Georges had the best and most attentive service of any restaurant thus far – every part of their staff was aware and cared. They were a little late with the reservation, so the kept us posted and bought us drinks – painless – I’d go back and wait just for that kind of service. They fed us too much – but it was the best food ever – so we left so fat it was amazing. Bill was 600 for 2 and we drank reasonably. When you leave, you feel like the money you spent here was well worth it! Can’t wait to go back!"

  • "We both ordered the lunch prix-fixe; for me, some special salmon creation. Never before have I understood how "melt in your mouth" could apply to a fish dish. This salmon dish taught me what this means. Absolutely superb. As was the entire meal, from amuse bouche to the complimentary petits fours. Service impeccable; waitstaff gracious and knowledgeable. Ambiance superieur. What more can I say?"

  • "The restaurant is an amazing experience. The only thing is that my table was on the end of the corridor and not very pretty, also I would recommend the restaurant to open the curtains at night so we can see the lovely view. The food was amazing!! Thank you Gabriela Martinez"

  • "I love Jean George's and return time and time again. Always delicious and exquisitely presented food in an lovely light filled restaurant - plus the lunch prix fixe is probably the best deal in the City."

  • "Carefully balanced wine list - everything for 1st growth Bordeaux to hidden, inexpensive gems. Service that is there when needed and never hovering or intrusive. Wonderful food, beautifully prepared and presented. This restaurant does it all - from a big splashy outing to an affordable night out with a special person. BRAVO!"

  • "First of all I want to point out that the service was extremely good (as expected): relaxed yet attentive, very flexible, and very easy to communicate with. My first course was a complete let-down to be honest: caviar, lemon gelee, and creme fraische. Way too much gelee, and the lemon taste was bland and did not work att all with the caviar and creme fraische. Why do I still give Jean-George five stars? Because everything from that point was outstanding. The wine pairings were 100% top notch. The service impeccable. I got a bit teary eyed from the asparagus with mushrooms, and I am positive some kind of deity was had a guest appearance for cooking the lamb rack."

  • "This is a top tier restaurant and it deserves it. Food, service, ambiance are all impeccable. The small plates are culinary gems. But, to my great surprise the veal dish was large and exceeded my capacity to finish it despite my heroic effort. The alcove table we were given was magical like being on a throne looking out into a beautiful room and beyond to Columbus Circle. Lunch is a true bargain and you can even make it to a distant matinee."

  • "we came in 15 min earlier than the reservation, and was seated 15 min late than the reservation time. I saw some people checked in later than me but seated promptly."

  • "We booked this restaurant to celebrate our last night in New York. Our table was tucked into an alcove very close to another table; indeed so close that the second occupants joined in our conversation at one stage! We have dined at several 3 star Michelin restaurants and felt that this restaurant was closer to 2 stars than 3. Our ' amuse bouche' was a delight, delicate but intensely flavoured. My scallop starter was slightly overpowered by the accompanying caper & raisin sauce. My risotto second course was brilliant - judged to perfection. My entree of suckling pig was a delight to both the eye and the taste buds. The highlight of our meal was yet to come, however, for the desserts here are of the highest order. Service was good."

  • "The food was good - but not memorable. Otherwise, the service was surprisingly poor for a 3 Star Michelin. Unbelievable, Seemed like they just didn't care - a little smug feeling. We heard the guy next to us complain as well that he expected "more respect", as they tried to rush him, too, apparently. Disappointed."
    Dined on 3/20/2014
  • "Expectations were high, but were easily met. Top notch service and beautifully prepared dishes made this a very special lunch. Highlight was the tuna ribbons. Will definitely return for dinner next time."

  • "This place never fails to disappoint. This is hands down one of the the best places to dine in NYC. Always very good, fresh and each dish is beautifully presented. Shahin was a master at service in every way! ( George who assisted was terrific too ! ) We had lunch and the 2 courses were perfect...as was the glass wine that complemented our meal. We passed on the dessert option, but there were yummy sweets that arrived with the bill!"
