A word from Jean Georges
Jean-Georges opened in 1997 to critical acclaim. The jewel of Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s empire, the restaurant offers the very best in fine dining. Consistently awarded four stars by the New York Times and three Michelin stars, Jean-Georges presents exquisitely crafted dishes blending French, American, and Asian influences. Chef Jean-Georges is a master at maintaining the essence of ingredients while using them inventively to produce the best flavor. Jean-Georges’ chic and intimate dining room was redesigned by Thomas Juul-Hansen, with striking lighting by L’Observatoire. Impeccable service, tableside preparations, and floor-to-ceiling windows with stunning views of Central Park and Columbus Circle all contribute to an unforgettable dining experience. Jean-Georges offers a three-course prix-fixe menu and two six-course tasting menus: a traditional tasting of the chef’s signature dishes, and a seasonal tasting featuring fresh market ingredients.Continued

  • "The service at this restaurant was unbelievable. The food was amazing. They bring you a lot of extras, and you actually become quite full by the time you leave. This place deserves all of their Michelin stars."

  • "I have been dining at Jean Georges for over 15 years and somehow they continue to raise their already impeccable standards. From the cuisine, to the service to the quality of the wine list & the overall ambiance, it doesn't get any better than this. We look forward to coming back soon."

  • "Jean Georges is just what fine dining should be. Sophisticated but warm and helpful wait staff. The food is elegant and delicious. Beautifully presented but straightforward, not contrived. Fabulous wine list. This restaurant is inspired with an obvious attention to every detail."

  • "I don't know of another restaurant in New York that attains the consistent high level of Jean-Georges. The excellence, the attention to detail and the elegant simplicity are unparalleled, in my experience."

  • "It was a terrific experience. I'm from south Korea and I will visit here when I come back to Newyork! Food was super good, wine was also perfect, dessert was absolutely adorably delicious. Waiters were nice to us. My mom also loved it !!"

  • "Everything was excellent, although despite being a 3 star restaurant, we left with the smell of food on our clothes. Might need a bit more ventilation for this caliber of a restaurant."
    Dined on 7/20/2014
  • "There is good reason that the restaurant has consistently been on top of all surveys and consistently garnered accolades. Food was incredible with such interesting combinations in every dish, artistic presentation, gorgeous room, outstanding service. And pricing not over the top for what you are getting. In a nutshell - a transporting experience."

  • "Impeccable service and excellent food. All 'obstacles' (food allergies and ballet later in the evening) where handled without any remark. We have eaten at Paul Bocusse outside Lyon in France and I must say that Jean George is a better experience. Thank you!"

  • "It is a luxury to dine at Jean Georges. Food is inventive and fresh. Service is amazing."

  • "It was our first experience at Jean-Georges. We had the summer sampler. Can only say that the service was phenomenal. There were at least three or four individuals looking over your shoulder at any one time. Unique tasting combinations. Excellent wine list. Would definitely dine there again."

  • "The food and service were disappointing, especially compared to the price level. Not worth even one single Michelin star."

  • "One of the best dinners I ever had. Everything from the service to the food was perfect."

  • "Lived up to the expectation for a 3 michelin star restaurant. The noise level was a bit too high for our liking but the food and service was really superb."

  • "I kidnapped my wife from Baltimore and took her to NYC for her 50th birthday. I was looking for a special place for a late lunch prior to going to Kinky Boots. I researched several top restaurants and settled on Jean Georges and I am so happy I made this choice. We were promptly seated in a prime corner table and our service was impeccable. Every attention to detail was made by John David and his team. Andrea, the sommelier, was patient and knowledgeable as we discussed many options for our lunch. The premier cru Chablis was a great suggestion. And the food was spectacular. Each dish built on the previous dish and the presentation, flavors, and textures were wonderful. As I stated above, it was a phenomenal experience. We will be back."

  • "We visited for our thirtieth wedding anniversary and were greeted with best wishes and finished with a gift of a personalised gateau. The food was sensational and the private booth perfect for the occasion. From our experience, a perfect treat for something special."

  • "The Jean Georges restaurant is always a treat. The food is superb and the service outstanding. We thoroughly enjoyed our brunch. The only note I would make is that it has now become more expensive, no longer a "good deal". Most higher end restaurants have a $29 or $38 brunch/lunch for two courses. Felidia is $29 for three, but there are lots of surcharges. Jean George has upped his $38 brunch to $48, which is a pretty steep increase. Not such a good bargain any more."

  • "Fresh, flavorful and simply exquisite!! The corn ravioli should be featured on the Food Network Show "Best Thing I Ever Ate." The service was impeccable."

  • "Jean George never fails. From the amuse bouche to the appetizer to main course. Had a wonderful lunch of veal scallopini, roasted salmon and hake. All so different but prepared to perfection."

  • "After one of our guests arrived late, we were told there would be another table in one and a half hours time. We had to rush, only to find there was plenty of empty tables left ... No need for that, especially when the food was wonderful and the service impeccable, although rather cold"

  • "Came here to celebrate an anniversary, and we both opted for the tasting menu. The food and the presentation and service were both superb and out of the park. At the end of the meal, they gave us a cake to celebrate with us. Overall, high expectations were met and exceeded."

  • "Jean Georges is a place we have been looking forward to for a long time. We went there to celebrate our 50th anniversary and a family member's retirement. Every single thing was nothing short of exceptional. Elegant surroundings, well informed wait staff, beautiful presentations, and of course, amazing food. We look forward to coming back."

  • "The restaurant is very beautiful, I had lunch, overall the food is very American, I more prefer lighter taste and consider it is a bit over seasoning. I would come back and try dinner."

  • "Our lunch at Jean Georges was our second in the last year, albeit a special occasion. We were delighted beyond expectations. The space, looking our at greenery (trees) including Columbus Circle and Central Park West and Central Park South was nourishing. Then came the pre-appetizers, and appetizers, entrees and deserts that were so delicious as to defy description. This is inspired cuisine that doesn't try too hard to be different--often resulting in "strange." This is well-thought-out, carefully crafted for the special moment that one's tastebuds are thrilled--making our eyes light up and our tummies say "Wow!" But it is subtle--and unmistakeable. Worth the extra expense to one's budget--if you are a true gourmand do not miss this!"

  • "It was really exciting moment to dine for a lunch. Moderate level of noise (not too quite or too noisy) , great service, and nice food."

  • "I was there with my wife celebrating our anniversary. The courses, which were delicious, followed each other with great speed. Before coffee and dessert we wanted to enjoy our glass of wine but felt pressured to keep going. We only wanted a few more minutes to enjoy the ambiance. To our surprise once we finished dessert the check was placed in front of us without our asking for it. A very poor practice in any restaurant, but at JG it's inexplicable. And all this happened at 2:30 pm, in an off-peak time. That explains the 4 stars, instead of 5."

  • "I recently dined here after watching a late show and they were extremly accomidating, however the reservation we made, we were not aware it being a 3 course pre-fix menu. The food was outstanding along with the staff, everyone was polite and helpful in our inquires on certain dishes. I ordered the yellow tuna ribbons as the first course, the crispy salmon as the second and the parmesean crusted organic chicken as the third, all of which came out outstanding. Not only did you recieve the 3 courses you each have a choice of dessert which consisted of 4 small desserts which were to die for, and a choclate tasting. I would love to go back but def would only return if celibrating a special occation."

  • "We had the traditional tasting menu and six out of seven courses were delectable. Almost all the courses were fish or shellfish based and could not have been better. The squab didn't do it for me but overall a fantastic experience. We even got a window seat and a mini birthday cake as I'd told them it was for my wife's birthday."

  • "Herb yogurt soup was too salty. Salmon tartare/sashimi was too warm. The American white sturgeon caviar didn't taste fresh. Bit into something hard in the sea scallops. I pulled out something white and jagged. The frog legs were done perfectly. They spilled much of my Mckenzie Rye manhattan when pulling my table out to ease my return to the table but didn't offer me another drink (I haven't even taken a sip yet). My wife's lamb came out med. instead of med rare. The table next to ours got it rare instead of medium rare. When their dish came back from the kitchen, it was overdone. Probably the biggest failure was on my part; I didn't complain to the staff about any of it. On a positive note, wine pairings were spot on. Andrea was awesome."

  • "Went for the $48 2 course prix fixe lunch which is an amazing value for this quality of food and service in a beautiful light filled dining room with lovely blue and yellow flowers. Stayed for coffee and dessert. Very good wine suggestions, maitake mushroom salad was delicious. Ordered the cod which had a slightly overwhelming vinaigrette. The server noticed my hesitation without me saying anything and offered to replace it . In its place I had the most wonderful sweetbreads I have ever had."

  • "We had been to Jean Georges a few times in the past and were expecting a great meal. I remember vividly what I ate there seven years ago and hoped this meal would be equally memorable. It ended up being memorable only for its ridiculousness. Preciousness has completely overtaken flavor: my husband and I actually burst out in spontaneous laughter at one highly contrived course which tasted like ketchup on tasteless fish. This was not for anyone who actually likes food! So sad."

  • "Jean Georges is the epitome in fine dining experiences. The decor is understated while the ambiance is magnificent in the high ceiling dining room with floor to ceiling windows. The food is absolutely divine. The wine list is more impressive than most. You`ll be hard pressed to find a better restaurant in New York City."

  • "We ate here pre-theatre so it was an early dining experience. The food was very well presented as you'd expect and tasted great. We had to go with the smallest menu of 4 courses so due to time constraints there was little time between courses which was a shame. The dessert was huge with 4 separate dishes."
