Outstanding food , low intimacyOutstanding food.
Too crowded. Table next each other. Low intimacy.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMTip of the TopMy wife and I celebrated my birthday (June 14) with a lunch at Jean Georges. In fact, we spent two days at top venues such as Babbo. Jean Georges tops the list with with its unusual dishes, impeccable service, soulful ambiance, and imaginative wine offerings. Their fava bean creation clearly bested a similar version at Babbo, and there small delicate, but heavenly foie gras with seeds and other small items was a tiny miracle. They allow patrons to purchase a "taste" of wine and actually let you taste the wine before your purchase the 1/2 glass taste. While we felts no need for dessert, we were given a special surprise birthday cake--a mini-chocolate mousse cake. It was the best version of that dessert we've ever had!6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMToo stiffNo wonder that the restaurant dropped to 89th in the latest world ranking. The food isn't as refined as it should be, all courses we had was just missing that extra touch. Of course it is being picky, but when a restaurant have to compete with others in such as La Bernardin and the like in close proximity; only the best will do.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMA memorable experience in New YorkOur visit to Jean Georges was a highlight of our first trip to New York. We are from Melbourne, Australia and wanted to experience a Michelin starred restaurant while here. We were not disappointed. The service was wonderful and the food was incredible. We chose the a la carte option which includes 3 courses plus dessert. Every course was outstanding and the waiter provided great advice in recommending fantastic wines to accompany the food. We are still talking about the fois gras and strawberries, the halibut and the suckling pig! And the caramel dessert! Truly a memorable experience which we would recommend to anyone.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMJean Georges, dinner experienceEverything around a dinner at JG is memorable. Especially the food of course as it should be. Each course had something special. Either simply perfect or a special combination. Flavors were strong, rich and pure. PLates were beautiful. Service is excellent and impeccable, but still quite relaxed. They make you feel special. Various last preparations to courses are done at your table. The dining room is tres chique and elegant. The wine list is a fun read and some prices go to extremes, but that is to be expected. You can make it as special as you want. Overall a great experience that was worth it.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMJean-Georges is obviouslyJean-Georges is obviously one of the very best restaurants in the universe and, as always, it did not disappoint.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAn Evening to RememberI was celebrating very special good news. This was a perfect setting, a fantasy, elegant, lovely, memorable.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMserene and elegantThe food and ambience were superb. The pace of service was just right and our table afforded us a quiet place to view the outside and the whole room. Food came with subtle ingredients that were so pleasantly surprising and leaves a delicate taste in your mouth, verbena, mint, dried cherries!
There were dark clouds, pelting rain and strong wind outside but our meal can soothe and brighten any drab day. It was worth the trip from anywhere.6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely birthday lunchDelicious food and complimentary tasting extras plus really nice service and ambience. Definitely recommend it for a memorable meal.6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, service and ambianceFantastic, we'll make sure we return here next time we are in NYC6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMStellar As UsualIt has been 13 years since our last trip to NYC and

Highly recommended for anyone who wants an amazing experience.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMbirthdayWe went there for my son's special birthday. The food was delicious and the service outstanding.
A delightful experience. I had sweet breads that were perfectly cooked.
May be the desserts could be more substantial for 12$.The only critic, otherwise wonderful.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMgood food high priceThe food was very good and interesting but very overpriced for what you actually get..6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful Lunch at Jean GeorgesAmazing food, generous portions, great atmosphere, and extremely attentive service. Would love to come back sometime in the near future!!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely Wonderful!I cannot think of a single negative thing to say about my experience at Jean-Georges. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, we enjoyed perfection. The service was warm, personal, and refined without being too stuffy. The food was exquisite--we chose the prix fixe dinner menu since we had theater plans later in the evening. Everything we chose was delicious and perfectly executed. I honestly don't know how anyone could find fault with this restaurant, it was flawless.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstandingWe had the most fabulous lunch recently had Jean Georges in NYC. The weather was awful and it was just wonderful to enjoy a leisurely lunch. The atmosphere was lovely, simple and elegant. The food and service were outstanding.....very complex flavor combinations of seasonal ingredients. Magical and unforgettable. We can't wait to return.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMBest dinner of my life...We went there to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary and had an amazing dinner... all the food was INCREDIBLE and the service was great also...
Of course it was expensive, but it was more than worth it for my 10th anniversary...
Peter6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMPERFECTIONLunch on a recent rainy day at Jean Georges was perfection. They just don't miss on anything. As good as it gets.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMlunchAs previously on our travels from Florida to NYC, the restaurant exceeds all expectations. The food is delicious and presented very well, the server(s) are excellent, and the ambience perfect. Anyone visiting NYC should experience this restaurant. And the prices are reasonable.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMUnbelievable foodSeriously, you may never have food this good anywhere. Somehow they managed to prepare everything perfectly. It is still an incomparable restaurant that few can rival.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMComes up trumpsGreat restaurant with superb food and first class service. Each course was to die for with seasonal ingredients to make your mouth water. If you want to treat yourself to a relaxing lunch followed by a walk in Central Park, this place is a must.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding service and lunchI recently took a girlfriend here for a girls lunch and couldn't rave more about the service and food. Our waitress was warm and attentive. She let us take our time and offered help where needed. We ordered the lunch tasting menu and added on an additional item each (definitely suggested). The caviar egg is to die for as is the foie gras with strawberries. Shockingly the pass fruit soda blew our minds. Overall an outstanding meal!6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMJune 2, 2013Impeccable "European" service. Generally excellent food. Beautiful room. Very creative selections. Asparagus course with panko was too salty. Malbec was mediocre.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderfulThe food and service was perfect. The spring menu was brilliant and inspired6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMspecial place for special occasionThe restaurant room is very nice and chic, food is excellent, wine list is large, and the staff is very gentle.
A special place for a special occasion! A must-try at least once in a lifetime!6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThe service is amazing. TheThe service is amazing. The food was exquisite too, but some of the things like the beef tenderloin seemed too chewy and my Rhubarb dessert was a bit of a disappointment. But the caramel dessert and the complimentary macaroons were just amazing. The flavors and the combinations of ingredients were just amazing. Maybe went in with super high expectations with regards to food and was maybe a tad bit disappointed. But I would say by far the best ambience and service I have ever had.... great place for a romantic lunch date6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWait StaffThe food was excellent and the wait staff was exceptional! I look forward to our next visit.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding foodWe have been to many highly rated restaurants and we are still talking about this experience - 2 weeks after the event. The mix of fine haute cuisine with a touch of "heat" was amazing. I love spicy food but had never found it in high end meals. The clever balance of flavors and spice lead to an amazing meal. I was surprised that after each course the heat vanished prior to the next course so there was never an interference of tastes between the courses. It was such and exceptional experience we will be back !!!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMdeserve the price! Should try it !Very good and elegant, the dessert is really cute.
You can choose special occasion and tell them, they will celebrate it for you by offering a free course maybe.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMSimply AwesomeFinest dining experience ever. Food was great. I did the tasting menu and each course surpassed expectations.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderfulIt was great! Service fantastic. Head waiter great. Our waiter and staff wonderful. Our assistant waitress Caroline was superb!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's Jean-GeorgesJean-Georges can bring the entire ambiance in a perfect date with exceptional food and incredible service. Jean-Georges prix-fixe menu is 7 petits plats combining different elements which integrated together amused our palettes. Dishes were delicately presented, and rich in flavors. We especially enjoyed the broiled squab and the egg caviar. It was like having art on a plate. We will definitely come back.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect for LunchLight and airy and conveniently located next to Central Park. Our dishes were beautifully presented and flavorful. After initially being seated next to the kitchen door, we complained and were moved to another table. Excellent service staff, especially our waiter whose name was Anthony or Andrew. After we were moved into his area, he made sure everything went well. He made very good recommendations for drinks and for courses on the menu when we asked. We mentioned my girlfriend's son was graduating and he brought over a little chocolate & gold leaf cake with a white chocolate note which said "congratulations." Lunch was excellent made even better by the service staff and most certainly by our waiter.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMpost engagement dinner = fantastici went to jean georges after proposing to my fiance. everything we ate was fantastic and the service was outstanding. they did their best to make our already special night even more special. i don't have any complaints at all from my experience and highly recommend checking this venue out. this was one of my better eating experiences in the city, and i have done the range from 11 madison park to per se to gramercy tavern, etc.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMHigh level, some weaknessesWine was served late, with the first course on the table.
Some irregularities in the rythm of service
Wine list extremely expensive. Hardly half a dozen of possibilities below (not much) $1005/28/2013 12:00:00 AMJean-George is not just aJean-George is not just a meal but a dining experience
The service and personal attention is one of the finest I have had
What a pleasure to introduce friends to this experience5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMExceeded Our ExpectationsThe 2 course, prix fixe lunch special is a steal. $38 and your choice of two entrees from a list of 20 or so. We had the spring pea soup with asparagus foam, foie gras, sweetbreads and black bass. Everything was delicious. Service was impeccable. We added dessert on for $12. The drinks are the one gasp part. I hate spending $18-$20 for a cocktail. Lunch for two with dessert and three cocktails was $150. If you're watching the budget, forego the cocktails and the dessert. They bring a tray of macaroons and chocolates o
Compliments of the chef anyway.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMbest food I have ever eatenbest food I have ever eaten and a very good service5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMAnniversaryI secured the reservation through Open Table and made a note that is was our anniversary. They started us off with complimentary champagne, made sure everyone knew it was our anniversary and acknowledged it and ended the evening with a beautiful chocolate dessert with a Happy Anniversary message on it. In a word, they were Spectacular5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMFantasticI can't think of a better way to spend a Sunday afternoon than dining at Jean Georges. The staff executed a perfect meal in a fantastic setting. This is a great restaurant to bring out of town guests to show them the best that New York has to offer.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMSunday lunchWe decided to pick a few of the small plates instead of the tasting menu. The waitress was very helpful with recommending wine to go with each plate. My partner has the ahi, then shrimp, then chicken. I had the scallops, pea soup, and cod, Everything was very good but - The ahi tuna was incredible. We were too full for desert, but they brought a selection of sweets and the marshmallows. I don't usually like them but these were different and very good.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWow!The food, service and overall experience was superb! Interesting menu with food that was perfectly prepared.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMLUNCH AT 38 DOLLARS PERFECT!!!With my mum we expand a great moment, food was fantastic, service very stylee and polite. Lot waitresses could bring you what you need. Perfect for us and very high quality.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat serviceall servers were polite, attentive and informational. Note that the prix fixe menu has a couple entrees and appetizers that require added costs.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMOkA little noisy
Service was ok, felt given what you pay that could have been better
Food was outstanding5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent serviceHad an excellent lunch with my husband. Their service was one of the best things about this restaurant. Food was obviously very good too other than the uni dish which was overpowered by the citrus sauce.
Saw Jean George on the way to the restaurant. It's great to know that the chefs are actually in his kitchen and overseeing his restaurants.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMMy favorite restaurant inMy favorite restaurant in North American period. French culinary expertise paired with South East Asian spices. My perfect storm!5/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
