  • Private Party Facilities: Our semi-private room is available for parties of 10 to 12. The private room we offer is our Vineyard Sunroom and overlooks the vineyards with an amazing view. It is fully enclosed and climate controlled for up to 80 guests, available for booking through-out the year. During the April-October period the outdoor patio is also available for booking. This space will accommodate 40 guest and can be reserved with the Sunroom or without. Also, it is covered with a large white tent but climate control is not available.

    Jean Farris Winery & Bistro as a whole is available for a private party on Monday only. The maximum capacity is 150.

Getting there

  • Parking: Private Lot
  • Parking Details: As you enter the property, you drive through the front vineyards of Cabernet Sauvignon and Viognier. All of the parking is close to the building in the private lot. Handicapped parking is offered with easy access to the front door. There is limited overflow parking available.
A word from Jean Farris Winery & Bistro
From its inception, Jean Farris has embraced our families’ history in agriculture, and, our passion for fine cuisine. With us, wine is best when sharing a table with good friends and good food.

Here on the estate we grow our own fruits, vegetables, herbs, eggs, and honey to use in the winery and in the kitchen. We serve our farm products with the wine, beer, and spirits that speak of our region. To us "Home-made" is a practice not a philosophy. With that our menu changes serveral times a year, reflecting the seasons. Staying in time and in touch with the cycles of seasons and what is naturally available to us.

We look forward to having you joining us at our table and sharing a night at Jean Farris.

  • "We were seated in the enclosed patio area. The evening started out great then a table of 10-12 women came in and the noise level got out of control! The patio floor is concrete, so it did not absorb any noise. We could not even hear each other talk. Luckily, our meal was almost over. Two other tables asked to be moved , and they did move them. The problem is that the other areas were small, so not everyone could move. My concern is that you can not guarentee where you would be seated when you make a reservation. I would hesitate to return since all large parties are seated in the enclosed patio."

  • "You know the place is special when it's pricey, out of the way, and STILL packed for dinner. The menu is not extensive but so well-chosen as to have something for virtually everyone. And the evening's specials are almost always the way to go for their inventiveness, ingredient quality, and aptness for the season. In addition to their lovely presentation, the portion sizes come dangerously close to spoiling room for dessert. Wine list is very good, as might be expected. The Jean Farris wines are worth a try (a flight is a good way to do that) and I loved their Pinot Noir but, for those who need more proof in their beverages, the selection of top-drawer spirits and creative cocktails is just fine, too. Improve on the ordinary bread"

  • "Our third time at JF. The food was excellent, as in the past, but this time the wines did not inspire us to buy a case as we usually do. The menu had been changed in the past week, and I was disappointed not to see some of my favorites from previous trips, but my filet was perfectly cooked and delicious, and my husband raved about the grilled pork loin. The web site mentions a business casual "dress code" but the servers were in shorts and tennis shoes, which really detracted from the specialness of the atmosphere we had experienced previously."

  • "Jean Farris was the perfect spot for a first date. We went out on a Sunday night so it was not crowded at all. Our server Evan did a fantastic job, he was attentive but not at the table every 5 minutes. The food was excellent, we had the pork loin and the sea scallops, highly recommend both!! Jean Farris was the perfect stage for a wonderful night!! We will be back!!"

Our waiter was very knowledgeable and friendly - but did not hover. The ambiance was very nice. We ate inside, but agreed that we would definitely try the outside seating on a future visit."

  • "I was passing through Lexington on the Labour day weekend, and this was the highest rated restaurant which I could reserve a table. It turns out, the restaurant was only 25% full. Because of that the noise level was moderate. I had the evening's specials. The daily soup was good. The main dish was a strip steak, cooked perfectly. I also tasted their flight of 4 reserve red wines. It was only OK, I would think they are in the $10/btl range in both price and quality. If they sell the wine for more than that, it's not worth it. If you know your wines, it would be better to select a bottle from their modest wine list. All in all, I think the meal was worth the drive and the money, but I will not be buying their wine for my wine cellar."

  • "I surprised my wife with a getaway trip to Lexington and wanted a unique destination for dinner. The drive out was beautiful. Once at the bistro we were seated promptly and our waiter was there for our drink order. The menu had good selections and we tried a cheese course to start which was wonderful and very well presented. My wife ordered the lamb chops and I the special sirloin strip. Both entres were cooked perfectly and presented beautifully. We sampled several of the wineries white wines and did not find one we liked. However the Cabernet Franc they make was excellent and we ordered a second bottle and took it home with us. Our waiter's knowledge of the food and wine they served was very good. Overall a great find!!!"

  • "We dined on the outdoor patio on a warm summers evening at sunset. It was our anniversary and the whole experience was delightful. The setting was unbelievably lovely. The service was great and the food was excellent if a bit pricey. I was not as impressed with the interior seating and the problem is you can not reserve a table on the outdoor patio - it's on a first come first serve basis. I think if we had been seated inside it would have been a much less satisfactory experience."

Our table for two was within 15 inches of another table for two; one person from that party, talked very loudly nonstop. We were finishing dessert when they had appetizer, so it wasn't our whole meal. It's just a personal preference, to sit within earshot of loud talkers. We will return, and bring friends-maybe ask for patio seating."

  • "Seated in an outdoor glass enclosed patio which was a bit uncomfortable on a warm, humid evening. I would suggest screens to offer outdoor air or add air conditioning. Service was extremely slow and our food was over cooked. Waters were served tepid without ice in the glasses. Appetizers were embarrassingly skimpy. Our drinks sat empty for at least 20 minutes and when we asked for refills it took another 20 minutes to receive them. I really wanted to like this place and kept hoping it would get better but it just didn't happen. $130+ for two (without dessert and not including tip) was disappointing. On a positive note, the wine was good."

  • "Loved the venue , waitstaff was excellent, especially Corey. My wife and I shared the bourbon sampler as well as a wine sampler with cheese and sausages. All were great. Dinner was OK at best for the price , portions are small and everything soaked in salt . We are going back again for the bar and appetizers, not neccisarily the entree."

  • "This was the first dining experience here for my wife and I. The positives for the restaurant are definitely the secluded location, well put-together menu, and surprisingly...the wines! I did not expect much from a Kentucky winery but was very pleasantly surprised with the Cab Franc and Pinot Noir. Our cheese and the bread were very good. Main course was very good and well prepared. Dessert was heavenly. Things to watch out for would be to make sure that you call for reservations and specify indoor seating as we were not given a choice and it was a very muggy evening. Service for our neighbors seemed very good. Ours, was absent and got my order wrong - brought a different dish altogether. She was definitely outclassed by the others we saw."

  • "They have a great patio, and although we requested outdoor dining during our reservation, we were not allowed to sit on the patio even though there were empty tables. Two restaurant employees said that they were previously reserved although the reservation process clearly states that requests may or may not be honored. They saved those outdoor seats for several groups that didn't show I guess. I specifically chose this place because it was a beautiful evening, made the 15 mile drive, then was made to look at a wall while there were empty seats outside. Frustrating. Services was good, outside is exactly as it should be, wish I could have seen it."

  • "I dined at Jean Farris for brunch on 7/5/14, and really enjoyed their new additions to their brunch menu, as well as their inclusion of a full bar in addition to the house wines. There seemed to be some miscommunication between the waitstaff and kitchen, as the cheese plate I ordered came out at the same time as my entree, and my cocktail (that I had ordered first) came out after both dishes. It was not crowded, so I'm not sure where the issue lies. I'm hoping they can find someone to correctly expedite their dishes, as service and timing are really the only things holding them back."

It is secluded yet to close to Richmond and Lexington. The food was outstanding, as was the service. The ambiance was romantic and relaxed, not at all stuffy. Perfect."
