  • Private Party Facilities: Our semi-private room is available for parties of 10 to 12. The private room we offer is our Vineyard Sunroom and overlooks the vineyards with an amazing view. It is fully enclosed and climate controlled for up to 80 guests, available for booking through-out the year. During the April-October period the outdoor patio is also available for booking. This space will accommodate 40 guest and can be reserved with the Sunroom or without. Also, it is covered with a large white tent but climate control is not available.

    Jean Farris Winery & Bistro as a whole is available for a private party on Monday only. The maximum capacity is 150.

Getting there

  • Parking: Private Lot
  • Parking Details: As you enter the property, you drive through the front vineyards of Cabernet Sauvignon and Viognier. All of the parking is close to the building in the private lot. Handicapped parking is offered with easy access to the front door. There is limited overflow parking available.

From its inception, Jean Farris has embraced our families’ history in agriculture, and, our passion for fine cuisine. With us, wine is best when sharing a table with good friends and good food.

Here on the estate we grow our own culinary herbs including twenty varieties of heirloom tomatoes, a wide assortment of fresh vegetables and numerous succulent fruits. With these our Executive Chef begins, reflecting and pondering the perfect combination.

The result: an ideal pairing that truly showcases the wines, foods and passion of Jean Farris.

Our menus change to mirror the seasons and bring together the best our region has to offer: from farm to table, for you.

  • "Seated in an outdoor glass enclosed patio which was a bit uncomfortable on a warm, humid evening. I would suggest screens to offer outdoor air or add air conditioning. Service was extremely slow and our food was over cooked. Waters were served tepid without ice in the glasses. Appetizers were embarrassingly skimpy. Our drinks sat empty for at least 20 minutes and when we asked for refills it took another 20 minutes to receive them. I really wanted to like this place and kept hoping it would get better but it just didn't happen. $130+ for two (without dessert and not including tip) was disappointing. On a positive note, the wine was good."

  • "Loved the venue , waitstaff was excellent, especially Corey. My wife and I shared the bourbon sampler as well as a wine sampler with cheese and sausages. All were great. Dinner was OK at best for the price , portions are small and everything soaked in salt . We are going back again for the bar and appetizers, not neccisarily the entree."

  • "This was the first dining experience here for my wife and I. The positives for the restaurant are definitely the secluded location, well put-together menu, and surprisingly...the wines! I did not expect much from a Kentucky winery but was very pleasantly surprised with the Cab Franc and Pinot Noir. Our cheese and the bread were very good. Main course was very good and well prepared. Dessert was heavenly. Things to watch out for would be to make sure that you call for reservations and specify indoor seating as we were not given a choice and it was a very muggy evening. Service for our neighbors seemed very good. Ours, was absent and got my order wrong - brought a different dish altogether. She was definitely outclassed by the others we saw."

  • "They have a great patio, and although we requested outdoor dining during our reservation, we were not allowed to sit on the patio even though there were empty tables. Two restaurant employees said that they were previously reserved although the reservation process clearly states that requests may or may not be honored. They saved those outdoor seats for several groups that didn't show I guess. I specifically chose this place because it was a beautiful evening, made the 15 mile drive, then was made to look at a wall while there were empty seats outside. Frustrating. Services was good, outside is exactly as it should be, wish I could have seen it."

  • "I dined at Jean Farris for brunch on 7/5/14, and really enjoyed their new additions to their brunch menu, as well as their inclusion of a full bar in addition to the house wines. There seemed to be some miscommunication between the waitstaff and kitchen, as the cheese plate I ordered came out at the same time as my entree, and my cocktail (that I had ordered first) came out after both dishes. It was not crowded, so I'm not sure where the issue lies. I'm hoping they can find someone to correctly expedite their dishes, as service and timing are really the only things holding them back."

  • "My wife and I wanted a nice, local restaurant where we could feel like we got away for something special but, of course, without having to go too far. Jean Farris fit the bill perfectly. It is secluded yet to close to Richmond and Lexington. The food was outstanding, as was the service. The ambiance was romantic and relaxed, not at all stuffy. Perfect."

  • "My wife and I came here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The beverage list (including wines and liquor) was very thorough and diverse. The food was exceptional save for the crab and veggie appetizer. While edible, it was pretty bland. However, the wedge salad was excellent, the coullote steak was incredible (as were the mashed potatoes and grilled squash it came with), and the grasshopper pie was out of this world. Would go back to eat here again in a heartbeat."

  • "The food here (especially the meat) is so fresh. The wine is also amazing. They now have a liquor license! Our waiter recommended several and all were amazing. The cheese board, the duck and chicken sausage, and the filet were all phenomenal. The pork and corn bread were a little dry. The bacon and fried plantain sundae were not my thing. Creme brulee was great, however. Still in love with the place and will be back soon."

  • "Jean Farris is always our favorite place to bring out of town guests for the scenic bluegrass venue. We asked for a patio table, but on this muggy evening we should have moved inside. It would have been better if our table had been under a fan. The food was great as always, with lots of fresh and seasonal items incorporated. Fried green tomatoes were amazing! One of us had the chicken; it was tasty but the portion size was disappointing. All the other servings were generous. Our waitress tonight was not as knowledgeable or attentive as usual. We'll be back, but hope for a better experience. It's nice to see a full bar and specialty drinks recently added."

The chef has some serious game. JFW has made a wino out of me. We also never forget to stock up on JF wines every December 5 during the 1/2 price sale that commemorates the repeal of prohibition.   • "We ate outside and service was very slow. Our mussels plate was left on the table for 20 minutes after we finished, attracting flies. The flies landed in our wine and water. Their idea of customer service when we asked for a replacement (of a 2 oz. taste) was to hand us a spoon. They said getting flies in our wine was a risk we took in eating outside. Clearly poor customer service is a risk you take in eating at Jean Farris."

  • "We went for a Friday night out. We ordered sausage and cheese for starters; this course was great. The wedge salads were tasty and well executed. We both ordered fillets which were only so-so. My wife's cut had a lot of sinew and tendons. The seasoning on the steaks was heavy handed . There was a large disparity between prices of wines. 17 dollar glass of Syrah is too steep. I had this wine before and it was good but not that good. Also I bought a bottle of this in the past and it was horrible, not what was served in house. Overall the experience was ok but for north of 150 dollars for two we were less impressed than on previous outings. Other options are now available that surpass this restaurant in many categories."

The view of the surrounding fields was perfect and the food was wonderful. We were happy to see the expanded bar offerings and enjoyed the Farm House Bloody Mary's.   • "I chose the restaurant because I wanted something a little different. It is in a rural setting which I found to be very pleasant. we sat outdoors during the early evening which was very comfortable and scenic. We enjoyed a beautiful sunset with open fields and trees in the foreground. After the sunset, twilight and night slowly fell but nature provided "lightning bugs" that continued to twinkle in the darkness. In addition to the natural beauty, the service was very good as was the food. we had the wine and an appetizer (Viognier with a cheese plate which was very tasty). Our entrees were fairly simple dishes that were delicious - filet mignon and chicken that were paired with a cab and chardonnay."

  • "We were dining outside during sunset that was absolutely spectacular. The service was impeccable and the food paired with the wine was very tasty. We stayed for coffee after dinner and sat by the beautiful gas fire pits. Very classy along with a great atmosphere. It was only my second visit and by far the best. We will definitely return to try something different from the menu as I am sure it will be just as wonderful as what we had the other night."
