    We welcome table requests for our main dining room, or, for our patio room overlooking the vineyards. With limited seating in both sections, we sometimes cannot accommodate all requests. Also, please observe the following policies with reservations of 6 or more: no separate checks and changes within 24 hours of your reservation to your party size, cancellations, or “no show” will incur a charge of $25 per person.

Getting there

  • Parking: Private Lot
  • Parking Details: As you enter the property, you drive through the front vineyards of Cabernet Sauvignon and Viognier. All of the parking is close to the building in the private lot. Handicapped parking is offered with easy access to the front door. There is limited overflow parking available.

From its inception, Jean Farris has embraced our families’ history in agriculture, and, our passion for fine cuisine. With us, wine is best when sharing a table with good friends and good food.

Here on the estate we grow our own culinary herbs including twenty varieties of heirloom tomatoes, a wide assortment of fresh vegetables and numerous succulent fruits. With these our Executive Chef begins, reflecting and pondering the perfect combination.

The result: an ideal pairing that truly showcases the wines, foods and passion of Jean Farris.

  • "Drove directly from Keeneland after last race and was there in plenty of time four our 7:00 booking. We were delighted with the Scallops, smoked grape fume with crispy leeks dish. So delightfully smoky (grapes!) and the scallops were perfectly cooked. The Viognier paired ver well. My second time here and will definitely return. We enjoyed sitting outside in screened in area. I can imagine lunch would be fab, too. A lovely end to a really great day."

  • "I had been to Jean Farris before and especially like to celebrate special occasions there, but when I took out-of-town guests there this weekend, we were all disappointed. Cory did his best and our service was great, but the food was not so good. One friend had redfish and it had too much pepper, as did the fresh asparagus that came with our steaks. Cory replaced the asparagus, but that wasn't cooked enough and wasn't edible. The potato au gratin that came with the steaks didn't have any flavor... Just not our night, I guess... Dinner there is never inexpensive... but usually worth every penny. The chef was really off last Saturday night."

  • "We have been coming to JF for years and have always enjoyed ourselves because the food has been innovative and service very friendly. However, the last couple of times the food has not been as impressive as it used to be. There is a problem with seasoning and that innovative approach and unusual pairings are missing. The appetizer board consisting of 5 offerings offered only one item that was worth tasting. The entrees were cooked well but once again were unexciting and lacked the oomph that JF has been know for. The wine was good though, as always."

My husband thoroughly enjoyed his filet and I enjoyed the sea bass. We were able to taste a couple wines before making a choice to go with our dinner. Evan provided excellent service and sitting out on the porch next to the flaming heater made the ambience even better."

  • "I am not a typical diner. We enjoy the experience that comes from trying many different things. Jean Farris Winery made that a delightful experience for us. We went on the Sunday after Valentines Day. Wasn't extremely busy, but almost all seats were full and the staff is small but did well to accommodate everyone. We ordered several different appetizers, rather than the typical salad/entree. All of the food was excellent for us, but we are adventurous eaters. If you are not one to try new things with the expectation that you may not like everything, don't order the butcher's board. With that said, the service was attentive without being overbearing, the food was excellent at every turn and we will be back."

  • "When I booked the reservation for the Sat after Valentines day, there was no information on the website at all that it was a prix fixe menu. So, of course when we arrived, we realized that it was more than we wanted to spend, but didn't want to go somewhere else at that point. The food was average, and the wait staff were not very attentive. No one came back to offer more bread and the cheese I ordered was never delivered. We still had a nice time together but for 175.00, I would have preferred much better service and food. The gratuity was added on twice and I'm glad my husband checked it, or it would have been over 200.00! IT's interesting to me that the waiter didn't notice that the cost was quite over the top."

  • "We made reservations for my parents' anniversary. We went on the day after Valentines Day, not realizing there would be a preset menu. The preset menu was $55. This price would not have been an issue if the food was good. My mother had the romaine salad which was about 3 pieces of lettuce. The Lobster Bisque was very bland, which is the nicest thing I can say about it. I had the Surf and Turf as my entree. The "surf" was tiny pieces of lobster mixed with carrots and breadcrumbs. It was served with exactly FOUR "haricots verts" and cold mashed potatoes. My mother had the gluten free dessert which was literally a Quaker Rice Cake with jam on top. I had the chocolate tart and I took one bite and was done. So disappointed!"

  • "Although we had made reservations several days in advance, we were seated in an alcove of 4 tables totally removed from the main restaurant/bar. Our server was very attentive and tried to make up for this but it certainly took away from the ambiance. This was the 2nd time we had been there and had previously been in the main dining room. We asked to move when we arrived and saw there were still empty tables, but were shown the computer where names were on those tables. Since we couldn't see that area, we don't know if they filled up or not! The alcove space affected the noise level as it creates an echo effect. Food was amazing though as before. PS: Too late for you to correct the spelling of ambiance in your survey? Former teacher here!"

Cheese selection is a much anticipated treat. Kael salad is a winter treat. It is nice to dine out without parking concerns or traffic issues. Beautiful place when the weather is nice.   • "We are regular patrons and big fans of Jean Farris. New Year's Eve Dinner was a disappointment because of execution, not the food. As always, the food was innovative and outstanding. The problem was the place was overbooked and the kitchen could not handle the volume in their usual timely manner. The place was standing room only. Even though we had reservations, we waited over two hours before we were seated for dinner. Servers were cool and professional under fire. If they had fewer menu choices for that night or a fixed few items, it probably would have been smoother. This is the first problem we have ever encountered here, and continue to recommend it highly to everyone we meet."

  • "My wife and I went to Jean Farris on New Year's Eve after hearing great things about the restaurant. Upon arriving it took around 5 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us at the door and the experience was mostly downhill from there. We were seated at the bar while we waited for our table which took around 15 minutes. I was too discouraged by this since it was New Years. After being seated it took another 10 minutes before our server came to our table to take drink orders. We both ordered soups which were served lukewarm. Again I was frustrated, but was going to let it slide. Both of our entree's were however really good. However, the biggest downside was the service as we were never offered refills for drinks or asked how the food was"

  • "We chose Jean Farris for New Year's Eve because the bistro is the perfect setting for a celebration! For such a busy night, our service was pretty good, though a bit slow at times. Our table had cheese and country ham to start, and beef, chicken, seafood, and vegetarian entrees. Everything was presented beautifully, and tasted incredible for the most part. The vegetarian entree was selected as part of a prix fixe menu, and was the weakest choice. Our desserts were decadent and delicious, except the prix fixe selection of roasted pear/pound cake, which tasted ok but just seemed a little lackluster in comparison to the creme brulee, cheesecake, and sorghum cake. Overall fantastic meal! And as always, amazing wine! Lovely experience!"

The wine is good but inconsistent and very expensive. The same goes with the food and the service. New Year’s Eve diner was inconsistent. Some great dishes but some very very poor one for a $75 or $55 menu. Understaffed and inexperienced waiters...ok at a corner restaurant, not there...sorry guys....need to improve if you want to stick around at that price..."
