May not be Paris but its a good
way to experience classic bistro food. Room gets a little noisy at times. Service is quite good, and efficient. Some of the dishes border on the ordinary but overall a reasonably priced meal."

We have been going to this
restaurant for awhile and have never been disappointed. The food is delicious and interesting. This is the first time I went for lunch and was very pleased with the choices."
Dined on 2/27/2014
What a great restaurant!! Cozy and
romantic ambience, warm welcoming service, and delicious food (we had the pork roast and the salmon)."

Dined on 2/20/2014
The place is charming, and the
food is good. But best of all is the service. They couldn't have been more accommodating. Thank you Jean Claude and thank you to our waitress."
Dined on 2/20/2014

,very relaxed and attentif service.this will be my to go place"
Dined on 2/5/2014
Since we are not football fans we
manage to dine out during the super bowl. We had our very own private restaurant. The service couldn't have been better and the noise level was very quiet. The food was very reasonable and very good. Would be back on a more normal evening and give a better review then."
Dined on 2/2/2014
Great for special occasions. One
of the few places that serve skate. The deserts, especially the bread pudding are among the best. Wonderful service. Please make a reservation at this very popular place - and schedule an early dinner which will add more for your experience and joy."
Dined on 1/31/2014
I am a fan of this place.i am
really happy they opened around the block from me.the food is always good and the service very friendly"
Dined on 1/30/2014
This was my first time dining at
Jean Claude. It was a great experience and I will return. The food was wonderful. My guest and I each had a fish dish which was well prepared, amply sized and presented beautifully. Service was efficient, but not pushy. Very reminiscent of bistros in Paris that I visted years ago."
Dined on 1/23/2014
Once more I enjoyed my diner at
this charming little bistro.i had the steak and fries ,it was a very good quality meat ,the fries were just the way I like them.my partner had a skate fish and she too loved it"
Dined on 1/20/2014
Steak Frites is a classic at every
French bistro I know and can normally be relied upon to be excellent. Here the fries were soggy and the steak mediocre."
Dined on 1/18/2014
We spent a leisurely afternoon
enjoying excellent food and service at Jean Claude last week. The pace of lunch was leisurely which is just what we wanted. The dressing on our salads was the best I've had in a long time. And our omelets were filled with fresh ingredients and served piping hot. Other diners were served more quickly---but we specified that we were not in a hurry and felt unrushed. Overall a perfect afternoon in a welcoming atmosphere. My one negative is the temperature. It was biting cold outside and the front windows did little to keep the cold out. Nonetheless, we will be back!"
Dined on 1/8/2014
Enjoyed a quiet lunch with French
bistro music lilting in the background."
Dined on 1/9/2014
Enjoyed everything at this cosy
little bistro.food was really tasty and well executed .service very friendly.i ll go back and will recommend it."
Dined on 1/6/2014
I have tried almost
everything.every dish is tasty, well prepared and cooked to perfection.the owner host is a gentlemen he is always taking sure everyone is satisfied.this place become my favorite one in the neighborhood"
Dined on 1/2/2014
The food is largely good, with a
few slip-ups. Kitchen always overcooks the salmon. Quality of steak is mediocre. Too much garlic in beet salad. Still, nice ambiance and overall decent ( but not wonderful) food."
Dined on 1/2/2014
Food is consistently good. Always
enjoy the mussels and frites . The dressing on the house salad is one of my all time favorites. The salmon entree was perfectly cooked."

Even though we eat here
frequently, New Year's Eve was really special. Thankfully, they did not do a "special" overpriced dinner, they stuck to their excellent regular menu. The restaurant looked festive and beautiful, and even though every table was full will more people coming in, the service was well paced, and we were not rushed. The food was delicious: an original squid appetizer with moroccan spices, pork roast, skate, and the best bread pudding ever."

I took my mother to Jean Claude
for her birthday. She had been there before and thoroughly enjoy her food. Her sister had ordered the bouillabaise, and my mother was looking forward to ordering that this time. However it was not on the menu.we had delicious dinners anyway. As we left my mother took the card for the restaurant and told the owner that she will be calling regularly to find out when they will be serving the bouillabaise. The owner said don't bother calling, whenever you want it call me up and I will have it ready for you that evening. My mother was thrilled!"

I love this place.it's a pleasant
neighborhood bistro.with no pretensions to be anything more than it is.the food is well prepared and excellent.the service is always attentif and very friendly."
Dined on 12/29/2013
Cute little place, perfect for
lunch. My only disappointment was that they didn't have hot chocolate but did have good espresso."
Dined on 12/27/2013
I had Mussels that were excellent
& so were the fries. Also had the French Onion Soup which was also great. Would recommend this place & their food. Will return soon. My dinner mate had the hake fish which he said was also very good."
Dined on 12/25/2013

I met a friend for dinner and the
food and service was excellent. I had a lite dinner, but will definitely return for a full meal!"
Dined on 12/16/2013
We are always searching for a
fabulous neighborhood restaurant restaurant that is at once gourmet and reasonably priced with a very nice ambience and excellent service. We found it here and have gone back weekly!"
Dined on 12/10/2013
Jean Claude was a lovely choice
for brunch or lunch. The food was very good, it's cozy and a great place for good food and conversation. Plus they don't rush you."
Dined on 12/8/2013
Food and service are always
wonderful. I recommend the tuna tartare and the skate."
Dined on 12/5/2013
Their uptown version is a winner.
We had a lovely dinner Saturday night. Reservations are a must. The restaurant is tiny and there wasn't an empty seat. There is no bar so nowhere to wait. Being able to order the wine by the half liter is perfect for two and reasonably priced. The duck was cooked to a turn, perfectly pink, tender and moist with the most intricately flavored vegetable melange underneath. The steak frites is what you would expect in a good French brasserie. The bread pudding for desert was custard and just sweet enough. not cloying like many. Jean Claude will definitely be added into our dinner rotation. The only downer was large table of 8 rowdy diners that made hearing your dinner partner difficult."
Dined on 11/9/2013
This is a nice little neighborhood
French restaurant. It's not fine French dining but the food is OK. The onion soup was great; the wine list is disappointing. If I were in the neighborhood I'd go back but would definitely not make a special trip."
Dined on 11/9/2013
service too a very long time on a
friday night, though the tiny restaurant was not fully booked. The food came overcooked and cold."
Dined on 11/8/2013
Wonderful little restaurant. The
food is always excellent - we have eaten up and down the menu several times, and have never been disappointed. The service is warm and friendly, and the prices (especially for the UES) are reasonable. And it feels very French and romantic!"
Dined on 11/2/2013
The food is very good, the
ambiance is nice - not too noisy so we could actually carry on a conversation! - and the staff is lovely. I will be going back. It is a very nice restaurant."
Dined on 10/26/2013
We had the escargot and calamare
for appetizers -- both very tasty; needed extra bread to max out on the escargot's garlic butter. The honey-lime glazed duck breast was good. But the "gotta come back" was the bread pudding for desert -- best I've ever had."
Dined on 10/25/2013
Food is FAB...something for
everyone...very well prices...very accomodating staff and Jean Claude is lovely and always wants to please."
Dined on 10/22/2013
It looks like a French
Bistro ... That's all The bread was not fit even for birds Serving on a Sunday night is not the thing of the waitress And the Poulet Roti should have stayed a live"
Dined on 10/14/2013
This is my go to place in the
neighborhood. They have a lovely lunch menu and serve a late lunch. The food is always good, the staff friendly, the ambience very French. I'm there at least once a week."
