JD's a great place for those who appreciate the experience of a small local restuarant that focuses on good food, personalized service and fair prices. If you want a fancy steakhouse chain experience, this is not the place for you. Or, if you want masssive amounts of smoked ribs and southern style sides, don't go here. But, If you want a good, family resturant, with a variety of classic American fare - this is the perfect choice. Decor is a little dated, but overall service and quality was terrific. We had a nice Friday dinner in the dining room, but also would enjoy returning a more casual weeknight dinner at the bar - and the menu has options to accomodate either choice.

Quite disappointing as I've heard just great things about JD's since my college days. It was our anniversary and had plans in the city for our favorite steak house, but there was so much traffic we decided to stay local. Food- had to order a steak, ribs & chicken since that's what they're known for right? The sizzling steak with mushrooms was presented well with crushes garlic (mojo like) Too bad it was overcooked, all it needed was salt. Steaks really only need seasoning while it's cooking. Ribs& BBQ chicken- same thing, needed some serious seasoning. Chicken was not marinated but baked then slathered some sauce. Ribs were not "fall off the bone" as described by my colleague. Overdone and mediocre at best. Would not retu

I'm a foodie for sure. The food has to be A++ for me to give it a 5 star- this is the 5 Star place!! It's good for people wanting a quiet place with a romantic ambience. You won't hear kids crying anywhere and the service is SUPERB!! Best you'll EVER get; BARNONE!! Why? Here's why: The menu didn't have Au Gratin potatoes but our waiter went out of his way to tell the chef. Chef comes out and asks us if how he may think the recipe goes is the Au Gratin we ate craving and she nailed it! Best Au Gratin ever!! Never have I been to a restaurant that TRULY goes out of their way to really give the customer what they want. Talk about TOP OF THE LINE SERVICE! If they don't have it on the menu they'll figure it out! The filet minon was delish!!

Food was fair. Not too expensive, but when you consider the size of the portions, not a good value

I have been there twice so far and will continue to go. The food is excellent - hands down. The prices are very reasonable and the staff if attentive and friendly. The decor needs to be updated (the smell and dining area reminded me of an old church). Highly recommended!!

Great service, great food. Delicious homemade mashed potatos and ribs! Went with a group of 10+ and they took care of us. Only qualm: menu is a bit pricy. There was a wait between courses, but for anyone looking to actually "go out to dinner" it's the perfect amount of time. Great location in Fort Lee, municipal parking across the street. Nice to go to a "real" steak-house, and not just another chain.

Went for Mothers day, figuring would get decent service and good food. Not sure if it was the waiters first night, but he was not up to the task. We were the first seating for dinner and already they were out of things, service was slow, check was wrong. One of those comedy of error things, where it was literally one thing after the other. Don't think we'll go back again or recommend.

Spicy pasta is a special twist that meets the Korean population in the area, and is pretty descent. Had a corporate group dinner here. Service is attentive and food is pretty good. Give it a try if you're in the area looking for group dinner.

  • The service was terrible.
    OpenTable Diner Since 2004

The service was terrible. The waitress was more interested in having conversations with people and telling jokes than attending to her tables and making sure the food got to the customer and was what they ordered. This was the second bad experience in a row with poor service and I would not recommend thi place to others.

Went for a Valentines day double date, we were greeted with champagne and a big smile. We had an excellent dinner with good conversation, our waiter was new and a little green but he made up for it with his positive attitude and cocktails…
