We go to JD Hoyts for dinner often, however, this time we decided to try their brunch. Wow - is all I have to say. We decided to try their table/family style brunch. There was so much food and it was so good. I think it's the first time I had a pork chop for breakfast. The food, the service and the atmosphere was top notch. This is a great place to bring out of town guests.

We ate there with another couple on a Sat night. It was the first visit for all of us as we usually go to the higher end steakhouses (Manny's, Seven, Capital Grille) so we were not sure what to expect. The food was great. Their specialty seems to be items with cajun or Jamaican flavoring. I had the scallops and my wife had a filet. Both were great. The best part is when the bill arrived, it was about 40% lower than it usually is when we frequent the other establishments. We will still continue eating at our normal restaurants but JD Hoyts is definitely on our rotation list now!

I had been hearing lots about JD Hoyts and was curious about their food. I went to college in New Orleans so the vibe was already there. I took my fiancé there for his 28th birthday, because it was one of the places we had yet to go downtown. We have been to all the best steak houses and seafood restaurants and JD Hoyts was our final place. One word AMAZING!! The feel was great - it was a real 5 Star dinner without the dim lights, quiet environment and dressed up customers. It was almost like a luxury sports bar - the vibe was great. Valet was cheap and very quick, which was nice after a big meal (its also just added to your bill so there is no worries about having to pay for things twice). The food was superb!! TRY IT!! GO GO GO!

The "upper" bar seating was very nice and the bartender was wonderful. A mistake was made on my snack and she cheerfully replaced it (and left the original delivered so my husband could eat it!). The dining room was very nice; server was very attentive. One of our sides was delivered and it was lukewarm; the server cheerfully replaced it. A manager stopped by to see how everything was but didn't seem to know about the error (and didn't introduce himself so we assume he was a manager). Valet parking was friendly and quick. Will stop by here again.

We had a booth on the corner right next to the bar and front entry and we were right in line of everyone that came in and left - extremely noisey and so distracting. We had requested a booth in the old part but NEVER expected this. The register was right at our elbows! The booth was very cramped as well. Our advice: do away with this booth!!

Excellent food and the portions were beyond generous! Pork chops and ribs were very flavorful and tender. Atmosphere was unique and very friendly. Our server was very accommodating, we had a couple elderly diners with us that were hard of hearing, so our server spoke very clear and slowly to them and was very patient with all their questions. Great experience.

Food was not bad, but not noteworthy. We ordered the lobster tacos as an appetizer. There were 4 of them, and there were 4 of us. One of them had no food in it! Cesear salads were not very ceseary. Main courses (scallops, shrimp scampi, steak, cheeseburger) were all okay but nothing special.

I was really looking forward to our dinner before the Paul McCartney concert. We had an early reservation but they were not staffed properly. My husband said his ribs and pork chop were the best he ever had!!! Excellent! Superb! However, I order the special Steak Sterling a fillet topped with a crab cake and bernaise sauce. My dinner was cold, not even warm. The steak was very tender but cold! The waitress brought me a new warm crab cake with cold bernaise sauce. Really disappointing especially when you pay so much. The waitress was so busy she mixed up our drink order or forgot and was too busy to see if our meal was OK. I could have cooked a better dinner myself.

We stopped here before a concert and had an early dinner on the patio. Our server was very attentive and did not rush us although it was getting very busy with other's waiting for tables. I would recommend the lobster tacos- not too heavy and served with a side of spicy pico de gallo. My husband had a steak with a crabcake on top and thought it was delicious. Their prices were medium to high depending on what you ordered with sides being ala carte. We would make a return visit.

We had dinner early Saturday before the Paul McCartney concert. The service was impeccable. I wish I could remember our waitresses name. She provided one of the best dining experiences we have ever had. She was very helpful with helping to chose our dinner options and was very enthusiastic about the selections being offered. It had been 20 years ago the last time I went to JD Hoyts. It was a business lunch, and I lived in St Cloud at the time. I have wanted to get back to JD's for quite some time and I finally did so prior to attending a play at the Guthrie. We came through the door, and I looked around like a kid in awe of my memory. JD's was just as I remembered it, and in fact I think I sat in the same booth I did 20 years ago. Jenese (sp?) met us at the door and escorted us to our booth and was our server. Jenese was friendly, helpful, courteous, polite; everything you would want from your server. Our dining experience was really good! Great food with Cajun Catfish and a Shrimp Jambalay type dish; and a super banana ice cream dessert.

The menu was great - steaks, chops, ribs, and a few seafood selections. It all looked so good. I need to go back so I can try everything. We had the cheese plate to start. It was a lot of cheese/fruit/crackers for 2 and could easily satisfy 4. It was great with our wine selection. I had the steak and crabcake and it was great with a wedge salad. Wife had filet and said it was great. Our server knew the menu cold and made some great suggestions. Prices were pretty reasonable too for the quality of food and service. But I did think some of the wines were overpriced and they have a pretty steep corkage fee if you bring your own wine in. Had a very nice time there and would definetly go back again.

Totally underwhelmed with the food. Service and ambiance were good, but didn't make up for the poor tasting food. Lousy calamari, but huge portion. Burgers charred on outside, nearly raw in the middle when ordered medium. Homemade chips worse then bag chips. Thought the meal was a waste of money.

This was our second time at JD's and we loved it this time as much as the first. Great service, great food and a nice quiet atmosphere. My only complaint was that I asked for my hashbrowns well done and they did not come out that way, but the rest of my meal was outstanding. We ordered lobster risotto to share--to die for!! I can't wait to go back again!! This has become our favorite place to go for a good steak/nice dinner that doesn't break the bank!

We have eaten here several times and always great! My husband loves the gumbo here. With the cheese bread they bring you, don't really need to order and appetizer unless maybe with a large group or big appetites. We have and the corn bread with honey, awesome! Our son always gets the salmon, I usually stick to the ribs, my favorite! I have had the small filet which is really enough for a woman's appetite, my husband has had the pork chop and that was incredible and tender too. Dessert is delicious also, the grilled bananas is great and enough to share.
