Diner Reviews
  • "Once again we had a wonderful meal at Jay's. We started with Lobster Mac n'Cheese, which wasn't as good as in the past. The macaroni should have been done a tad bit more and more lobster. It was not as creamy. We would not order it again. The Oysters Rockefeller were wonderful. The flourless chocolate torte for desert was hard, to the point that a fork was not able to go through the chocolate coating. I suspect it came out the refrigerator and not able to soften. It tasted good, but was not easy to eat. The service was great."

  • "The food and service was delightful however as for ambience this place was very dark inside, I know this is supposed to add to the ambience but in this instance it may have done the opposite. It was almost a strain on the eyes to even read the menu. This place seemed to have a unspoken noise restriction also, it made it feel as if it was wrong of me to talk to my date I brought there on the night of 4/12. I felt like this place would be better enjoyed by long time couples and platonic groups but for a first date it seemed to add to the already existent awkwardness. Overall this place is very nice for fancy dining and the food is superb but the ambience could easily overwhelm someone on a first date."

  • "I was less that half through eating my NY strip it when a waitperson came up from behind (that I never saw) and swooped it away while I was in conversation. I immediately spoke to the waitperson and they said it was too late, and it had been taken to the kitchen. I should have been offered some compensation because I had not finished eating."

  • "Perfect for my husbands birthday, food and service was excellent, a cozy romantic place. Placed some streamers on our table to add to the celebratory theme with our dinner!"

  • "Jay's Bistro is never a disappointment. The food, service, special recognition of a birthday - all consistent with their high quality and enjoyment capability. Love this place. We go often."

  • "Jay's Bistro provides a stellar overall experience, with exceptional food, great service and atmosphere. The fish and other proteins are always cooked to perfection, unlike at many other restaurants where you get a dry piece of fish especially, let alone chicken and other meats. There is something for everyone on the generous, but not overwhelming, menu."

  • "Although Jays is a long time dining spot in downtown Fort Collins, they are on trend and still relevant. We went Wednesday the 26th for our 20th Anniversary and everything WAS PERFECT!! Server was knowledgeable and fun. Food over the Top. Wine list excellent. Mark Sloniker was playing in the Bar and it was a great vibe for a pre-dinner cocktail. Overall it was just a great night."

  • "Jay's is a fantastic restaurant for a fancier night out on the town. Their wine selection is great, their drinks fantastic, their seafood fresh, and their staff delightful. We were lucky enough to hold our wedding reception here, and have come back every year since."

  • "I haven't been to Jay's for at least 10 years. Wanted to find a special, fun place for my birthday, and someone at the office mentioned Jay's. Took a quick look on their website and made a reservation. So glad we picked Jay's! Wonderful food, great service, atmosphere was lively and the jazz was remarkable! Fresh, updated, trendy-but-classic style. We took my 10-year-old son with us; he enjoyed it too. We'll defintely be back soon ... very soon!!!"

  • "I opted to go to Jay's to take advantage of their great plate special that runs the first two weeks of March and benefits the food bank. This is a nice restaurant. The food is excellent! The lobster bisque is fantastic. They have lots of gluten free options. The services is great. Overall this is a wonderful dining experience."

  • "We've been going to Jay's since it was a tiny space just off campus. Food is always excellent, Mark Sloniker plays jazz 3 days a week in the bar, & the service is what it should be for a restaurant like this. Wine list is expensive, but there are a few good selections by the glass. Delicious appetizers (I had blue cheese asparagus bisque), inventive main courses (Hazeldell muxhroom stuffed canneloni), etc. We went for Great Plates, a fund-raising event in our town. The offer for this was very well priced, and we had a chance to have a very tasty three-course meal at a price we could afford. If you have the money, this is a great place for dinner. Jay and Jacki have been hard-working, innovative business owners here for at least 30 years."

  • "We always know Jays will be good, so took our out of town guests for a bit of FTC atmosphere. Varied menu offered something for every palate. They were offering the $25 plates with 3 courses, asparagus bisque was tasty. Appetizer portions quite small. One of our guests ordered the mussels and was pleasantly surprised. Chocolate ravioli for dessert to top it all off."

  • "Reliably wonderful food, drinks, service, atmosphere, and great live music. Love Mark Sloniker on keys, and whoever he lines up to join him but we make a special point to go when Colleen Crossen is there. Can't beat that voice!"

  • "Everything was perfect! The food, atmosphere and service. Great way to celebrate my husbands birthday and belated Valentines day. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "I requested special seating, because I have trouble hearing against background noise. Then I was also on a strict diet, and questioned the waitress about any number of menu items. She not only knew the answers (or got the answers just for me), but she also suggested and saw to a change in our appetizer so that I could enjoy it dairy-free. My husband and I basked in truly exceptional service at the restaurant's most intimate and quiet table. What makes all this even more amazing and commendable is that it happened on Valentine's Day!"

  • "J's Bistro is the place to go for the special occasion. The food and wine selection is always great and the preparation and service are impeccable. We always think about trying someplace new for that special night but end up at J's because we absolutely know we will not be disappointed."

  • "I made the reservations for my boyfriend and I for Valentines day. It is a lovely resturant and we have been there many times. We were short on money this year but still decided to go out anyway. The food is always delicious and atmosphere is great for a special occasion dinner."

  • "Fantasic food and service. If you don't order the Poke appetizer then you just your first mistake of the evening. As good or better than any I've had in Hawaii."

  • "Had not been to Jay's in a number of years, as a matter of fact when we last went there they we at their old location on College Avenue. Everything was very good, waiter was very attentive but not overbearing. I was very impressed with the breadth of the menu. My wife had tuna which she loved and although I almost always go for fish or seafood I tried the "Mixed Grille" Venison, Lamb and Beef. It was all tender, flavorful and delicious! We will be back and not wait so long to return!"

  • "Jays Bistro absolutely created the perfect evening for our anniversary. The dining room is quaint and romantic. The service went above and beyond by adding some small but very meaningful touches to the evening. They were very receptive to accommodate any special requests. Most importantly, the filet mignon was perfect and was paired with the perfect portions of sides. Thank you for your excellence! See you soon."

  • "I was very disappointed. We took someone interviewing for a job there. When this person arrived at the restaurant they informed him that we were not there although we had specifically told the hostess we were expecting others for the party. So he sat at a table for a very long time while we were waiting for him elsewhere in the restaurant. The food was mediocre. I have had good food there but also disappointing food. The reputation of Jay's is that the food is not reliable....I should listen."

  • "Jay's is one of the finer dining establishments in Fort Collins and while the food and service are great, the prices are substantial enough to make it more of a special-occasion spot. The cocktail and wine selection is excellent and the wait staff seems very knowledgeable about the menu."
