I've been to all the Jax locations and the food and ambiance never disappoint. On this occasion, however, our waiter's service was subpar. Fortunately the other staff pleasantly picked up the slack. We dined early on a Sunday evening and, not surprisingly, several dinner items were unavailable; they do feature fresh seafood. However, many of the "house made" items were also off the menu. Disappointing and, while market goods may run out, there is no excuse for "house made" items to run out....

I've surprisingly never had such a bad clam chowder. Tasted like pure alcohol or wine. The music was so loud we couldn't hear each other talk. Thought it was a restaurant not a club? It took over an hour to get food at 10:00 at night when it wasn't very busy and our waiter was not plesant. I was pretty disappointed.

We originally had dinner plans at Kevin Taylor's before our opera outing. We changed our mind, though, because this is our FAVORITE go-to place for dinners. And, because it was my 50th birthday, I really wanted to spend it there. The wait staff was amazing and the manager even came over and gave us both flutes of champagne to celebrate my birthday. I love this place. It is always so hard to go anywhere else - awesome service, great food and a fun atmosphere. I always recommend Jax to friends and family!!! Thanks for making our night so special!

Always dependable for great fish - I often crave the peel and eat shrimp - a lively atmosphere and attentive service. I tied the chowder for the first time... Loves it but definitely didn't need anything to accompany. Look forward to having again on a cold Colorado evening.

My husband requested seafood for a big birthday dinner. While the food was good our server was obviously overloadedand a night of bad, inattentive service was concluded with a glass of water being spilled in the birthday boy's lap.No attempt at an apology from any management. We understand mistakes happen but it certainly tookThe fun out of it already disappointing night.

Reserved dinner for husbands birthday with group of 10. Seating was crowded, drinks were good, wait staff were very friendly and welcoming. Food was fair. Nothing overly wonderful or memorable, but not bad. Was hoping for something a bit more for this celebration. Came after a recommendation from a friend and Trip Adviser reviews. May or may not return, will probably try another "fish place" before I would come back for more.

The selection of fresh fish and seafood is wonderful. We are both from coastal states (opposite oceans) and loved the variety and freshness. Had muscles, oysters, ahi and swordfish, all perfectly prepared. Also had dessert (coconut cream pie) that left us a bit disappointed, but understandable when the entrees are so well thought out that dessert would be an after thought. Highly recommend Jax to anyone who loves and appreciates seafood but struggles finding quality in this mountainous, landlocked state.

I had heard great things about Jax for awhile and finally made reservations for me and my fiancée, I didn't even think about the fact that he was just returning from Virginia beach and have chowed down on seafood for days straight while on the coast! We decided to go anyways since I was craving oysters.. Great choice! We absolutely loved everything! The food, service, and atmosphere was perfect. He even commented on how the seafood was just as good as it was in VB! Another small thing we loved was the paper and crayons on the table.. Yes it's more for kids but it kept us mid 20 something's laughing and enjoying everything even more. Oysters + tic tac toe = great date night!

I've been to Jax often, and usually I walk thinking how incredible it is. This Friday night I walked out think, hmm, that wasn't as consistent as it usually is. Our service was outstanding, as was the hostess who helped move our reservation back 15 minutes, but the panang curry mussels and kale caesar were not. The mussels were not as fresh and fluffy as in the past and the kale caesar lacked flavor. Our lobster roll was good, but again, not outstanding. For the price Jax has on the menu, this visit was not worth it. I will return and hope to get the consistency and outstanding food I expect from Jax.

We have come to this Jax location quite a few times and this time was no different from a food perspective, great seafood choices and fun dishes to try and deconstruct as we ate. Though for the first time things seemed a bit disorganized and rushed. It started with the hostess being very stand-offish even though we had a open table reservation. We understood that our table wasnt ready when we arrived 15 mins early so no issue but were told that the table most likely wouldnt be ready until 30 mins past our reservation (odd). Then our waiter had trouble remembering the ingredients and price of the special and was quite rushed. Seemed like he was either new or overwhelmed. We most likely will be back, very strange visit though.

Oysters were good & that's about it. Rez was for 8:15, and didn't sit til 9, after asking about our Rez & empty tables numerous times. I understand we were the only non-caucasian's there but you know after a $200 bill, I think all our money spends the same. We had to keep asking waiters or whomever for our food or another drink even a napkin. Horrible service, didn't eat til almost 10:45!! We were there since 8 bc again, we had reservations @ 8:15. Just very disappointing date night @ Jax :(

Everything at Jax is top notch! I wanted to start with how great the service was from John, but then I remembered the awesome food we had, great wine list and yes, fantastic service! I can't think of one being better than the other, but all came together like a great symphony to make a fantastic dining experience for me and my friends. We brought some friends from N.J. that were in town and none of us could be more delighted with our experience in Jax Denver. We live in Boulder and spend a good amount of time at Jax there and really enjoy it. We figured since we were downtown with our friends we'd try this location and couldn't have been happier. We enjoyed appetizers, the awesome clam chowder and then an an awesome dinner! Thank you!

I read this is an outstanding restaurant; it was horrible on every level. The music was so loud that the server asked to turn it down so he could talk to us. Our reservations were for 7:30PM but we arrived at 7:00pm and they had many open tables; this should have been our first clue as other restaurants in the area were full. Two drinks were $10.00 a piece...vodka rocks and gin rocks and the bartender measured EXACTLY 1 ounce pour and no more...the raw oysters were $25.00 for 6 that were very small. We had 6 fried oysters and they were pathetic; not even warm. Our bill was $77.00. We left and walked one block over to The Kitchen; no tables but we sat at the bar and it was outstanding!!! Do not waste your money and time at Jax!!

The crab legs were meaty and delicious and even though the menu said 1 lb for the snow crab and 4 oz for the king crab, it seemed like way more. Service was impeccible. The sides, salad, cocktails were also wonderful. Definitely recommend this place!

Seating area after the remodel is horrible. My chair backed up to the path used by food runners and smelled like the kitchen (because I was right next to it with no partition). Our server was even worse. He took 15 minutes to even show up to the table, and as soon as he found out we were doing the Denver Restaurant Week deal, he basically shut down, acted like we were inconveniencing him by eating there. I will never go to Jax again.

I was expecting much better food and didn't expect the bar to overwhelm the tables. We ordered from the August Restaurant Week menu. All 4 of us ordered the panko cod with 1 hour egg, vegetable chips and asparagus. The entree came in a bowl because there was some sort of watery liquid in the bottom. We were all puzzled by this presentation. When attempting to eat the egg, it disintegrated into the liquid and no spoon was available to save it. The cod, chips, and asparagus were okay. My husband and I ordered the squid salad; the squid was cooked correctly so it wasn't rubbery. The dessert of Palisade peach and chocolate ice cream was the star of the meal and bumped my food rating for this restaurant to 3 stars.
