I've been to Jax often, and usually I walk thinking how incredible it is. This Friday night I walked out think, hmm, that wasn't as consistent as it usually is. Our service was outstanding, as was the hostess who helped move our reservation back 15 minutes, but the panang curry mussels and kale caesar were not. The mussels were not as fresh and fluffy as in the past and the kale caesar lacked flavor. Our lobster roll was good, but again, not outstanding. For the price Jax has on the menu, this visit was not worth it. I will return and hope to get the consistency and outstanding food I expect from Jax.

We have come to this Jax location quite a few times and this time was no different from a food perspective, great seafood choices and fun dishes to try and deconstruct as we ate. Though for the first time things seemed a bit disorganized and rushed. It started with the hostess being very stand-offish even though we had a open table reservation. We understood that our table wasnt ready when we arrived 15 mins early so no issue but were told that the table most likely wouldnt be ready until 30 mins past our reservation (odd). Then our waiter had trouble remembering the ingredients and price of the special and was quite rushed. Seemed like he was either new or overwhelmed. We most likely will be back, very strange visit though.

My husband and I went here before going to see a movie for their $1.25 oysters. It took about 30 minutes for them to get to our table, but we were in no rush and didn't complain. However, our server and the manager were very kind and took them off our bill! We were impressed!

Oysters were good & that's about it. Rez was for 8:15, and didn't sit til 9, after asking about our Rez & empty tables numerous times. I understand we were the only non-caucasian's there but you know after a $200 bill, I think all our money spends the same. We had to keep asking waiters or whomever for our food or another drink even a napkin. Horrible service, didn't eat til almost 10:45!! We were there since 8 bc again, we had reservations @ 8:15. Just very disappointing date night @ Jax :(

Everything at Jax is top notch! I wanted to start with how great the service was from John, but then I remembered the awesome food we had, great wine list and yes, fantastic service! I can't think of one being better than the other, but all came together like a great symphony to make a fantastic dining experience for me and my friends. We brought some friends from N.J. that were in town and none of us could be more delighted with our experience in Jax Denver. We live in Boulder and spend a good amount of time at Jax there and really enjoy it. We figured since we were downtown with our friends we'd try this location and couldn't have been happier. We enjoyed appetizers, the awesome clam chowder and then an an awesome dinner! Thank you!

I read this is an outstanding restaurant; it was horrible on every level. The music was so loud that the server asked to turn it down so he could talk to us. Our reservations were for 7:30PM but we arrived at 7:00pm and they had many open tables; this should have been our first clue as other restaurants in the area were full. Two drinks were $10.00 a piece...vodka rocks and gin rocks and the bartender measured EXACTLY 1 ounce pour and no more...the raw oysters were $25.00 for 6 that were very small. We had 6 fried oysters and they were pathetic; not even warm. Our bill was $77.00. We left and walked one block over to The Kitchen; no tables but we sat at the bar and it was outstanding!!! Do not waste your money and time at Jax!!

My daughter and I dined here for dinner. We both ordered the crab duo and it was outstanding! The crab legs were meaty and delicious and even though the menu said 1 lb for the snow crab and 4 oz for the king crab, it seemed like way more. Service was impeccible. The sides, salad, cocktails were also wonderful. Definitely recommend this place!

Seating area after the remodel is horrible. My chair backed up to the path used by food runners and smelled like the kitchen (because I was right next to it with no partition). Our server was even worse. He took 15 minutes to even show up to the table, and as soon as he found out we were doing the Denver Restaurant Week deal, he basically shut down, acted like we were inconveniencing him by eating there. I will never go to Jax again.

I was expecting much better food and didn't expect the bar to overwhelm the tables. We ordered from the August Restaurant Week menu. All 4 of us ordered the panko cod with 1 hour egg, vegetable chips and asparagus. The entree came in a bowl because there was some sort of watery liquid in the bottom. We were all puzzled by this presentation. When attempting to eat the egg, it disintegrated into the liquid and no spoon was available to save it. The cod, chips, and asparagus were okay. My husband and I ordered the squid salad; the squid was cooked correctly so it wasn't rubbery. The dessert of Palisade peach and chocolate ice cream was the star of the meal and bumped my food rating for this restaurant to 3 stars.

We went to Jax for summer restaurant week, and we were definitely disappointed. We have been frequenting Jax since the college days in Boulder, and I have been to the downtown Denver location twice before, both of which were great. This time, however, the service was really slow and the food was completely average. Given that we paid $30 for 3 courses, we weren't too upset, but I certainly wouldn't pay full price for the food and service provided. Definitely hesitant to go back in the future.

When we got there the restaurant was very busy and they were able seat us within 1 minute of our reservation. That set the tone for the rest of the evening. First off, I must say my father and I were very impressed by how considerate the manager (Kelly) was at JAX. Although the entire staff was very likable. We had a reservation, and because they did not have our table ready in an appropriate time (approx 30 min delay),she offered to buy us a round of drinks and an appetizer. Upon finishing Kelly had not only paid for one round of drinks and an appetizer, she took care of two rounds of our wines and an appetizer. This really communicated to my father and I how JAX prioritizes happy guests with their overall experience here.

Our visit to Jax's started with the Buttermilk Bread. It was crispy on the outside, almost the texture of a pretzel, and melted in our mouths. We couldn't get enough of the whipped honey butter it was served with. Next were the Emersum Oysters. We tried both kinds, charbroiled and fried. The fried one were crispy without being greasy and perfectly plated on a bed of sea salt. For the main course, we had Grilled Ahi and Pan Roasted Trout. The pickled hearts of palm with the Ahi were crunchy and had notes of ginger. The maple bacon and root vegetables with the Trout was outstanding- crunchy, complex flavors. Of course both pieces of fish were cooked perfectly. The tuna had a beautiful deep purple inside, while the trout had a crunch skin.

My wife and I came here for our third anniversary and were very impressed. It is such a fun atmosphere with outstanding food. We showed up almost an hour early for our reservation and still had no issue being sat right away. Being land locked, good seafood can be very expensive, but Jax was still reasonably priced. We will be returning again in the future. Two thumbs up!

Went to Jax with girlfriends. It was so hot in there, and eating seafood while in a stuffy hit room is never good. The service was great, and we were taken care of. I think the food was just okay. Pretty expensive. My girlfriend got oysters and it was over $4 per oyster! So expensive! And she said it wasn't that good. I had the lobster roll and the melon salad which was good. Also the bread with honey butter is worth the $3. When did restaurants start charging for bread though?! This restaurant is just a 3 star rating. Probably won't go back

We had a wonderful experience here. We sat at a little table right next to the aquarium. We were somewhat struck by the noise level at first, but it was a Friday night and the place was hoppin'! Jose was our server, and he was excellent: attentive but not hovering. We had the seared trout and ahi tuna, both to die for! Dessert was their newly added bourbon milk and cookies. Heavenly! In sum: great service, great ambiance, and amazing food. Highly recommend!
