Josh Ernst is the heart and soul of the Jax bar. The cocktails and small batch, house made sodas at Jax are the height of good taste and purposeful preparation.
Beginning January 2013, Jax is bigger, better, fresher and luncher. We’ve doubled the size of the world famous Oyster Bar and brought the kitchen into the dining room with made to order chowder, stews and steamers, prepared before your very eyes.

We had oysters to start, which were delicious! Let your server recommend the best to you; they know what they are talking about! I had the Seared Ahi which was melt in my mouth amazing! My boyfriend had the Trout, which he enjoyed very much! I can't believe it took us so long to get here, but now that we've been once, we'll certainly be back soon!"

  • "The service was good, but I was not a fan of the food - it was too.....funky. For a restaurant with the name "Fish" in it, I would have expected a large list of fish to choose from. Instead, you had to pick from oysters, calimari, clams, and other things that not everyone loves. Also, the noise level was extremely loud, and barely any room for the waiters to even take your order at the tables. Definitely will not be back."

They are too close together and NO one wants to sit on a bar stool at a table for several hours for dinner."

  • "Happy Hours Oysters were very affordable, We also enjoyed oysters with dinner and had a variety and all of them were excellent from different parts of the country. Tuna Poke outstanding almost like sushi but a large portion, Calamari is the larger tentacles and the sauces are very good. I prefer the smaller tentacles but my husband loved it. Steamed shrimp is always good, comes out fresh, not fishy excellent flavor, clam chowder superb and a nice portion, crab cake was excellent again not fish and not too much filler which was nice and a light coating so you enjoyed the crab flavor above all other flavors. German chocolate cake was warm and a little different than we expected but still a very good dessert, we always enjoy our meals"

  • "Met a friend for dinner at Jax. While pricey, their oysters did not disappoint. Although many of the the entree items looked tempting, we chose a more casual follow-up to the oysters and both had a stew and a salad. I am not completely sold on the "kale" craze, but their kale salad was simply fantastic - topped with apples, hazelnuts, Reggiano and just the right amount of dressing. And then, the made-to-order clam chowder (made with shelled clams) was divine. The winner to me - the perfect meal on a blustery night was the bacalao potato stew with tomatoes and peppers. The perfect combination of salty, savory, rich and tart. I would normally not think that a kale salad and fish stew would account for foodie heaven, but that night, it was."

(Even on a super busy night!) noise level was high/energetic but not uncomfortable enough that you couldn't hold a conversation. Drinks were well mixed and smooth.   • "So we've been waiting for about 2 yrs to go to Jax downtown Denver and it's fantastic. We literally got the worst table in the entire restaurant, 2-top right in front of the pass through window of the kitchen...but it doesn't matter where you sit, the service/food/atmosphere is awesome! They have a great happy hour from 4-6pm which you can take advantage of no matter where you are in the restaurant. Next time I'll get there early enough though to sit at the expansive bar in the middle of the room where not only cocktails are done, but all the fresh oysters and steam prepared appetizers are made...reminded me of being back east in the Chesapeake Bay area. Absolutely a great place for casual or special occasion...can't wait to go back again!"
