Jasper's - PlanoJasper's: always good!Jasper's continues to be one of the really excellent dining experiences in Plano. Chic, sophisticated setting, good service and a creative menu keep this restaurant a place both for special occasions and a welcome change of pace from the ubiquitous "theme restaurants." We were welcomed by the valet staff as well as the servers. Food was beautifully prepared and presented. Despite being a super-busy Mother's Day brunch, we never felt rushed. Just across the street from Jasper's is a beautiful little lake fronting the Marriott where dozens of families were strolling and taking pictures. The ribs at Jaspers are by far the best I have ever had. The said they are in the top 3 in the U.S. That made me want to try them. Salads and steaks were great as well. It just took a very long time to get our meals. In fact, the table next to us celared twice while we were ther and we didn't sit around talking (but did have desert). It was 9:30 when we left the restaurant.

to understand her need for attention. He engaged our 16 yr old birthday boy into football conversation and made my daughter

The crab cake is one of the better ones I've eaten, the soups have good flavor and surprisingly, their pasta was pretty good. Out of the desserts, the "toast" was my favorite, followed by the ice cream sandwich (the bread pudding was our least favorite). You can tell that their service has improved and they are working hard at it. The server was knowledgeable about the food and could make suggestions. The restaurant appeared to have ample staff, even though there was a birthday party for 50 in one of the private rooms. We were checked on often and the dining experience was very pleasant. My dessert was presented with a candle in it and I was wished a happy birthday by many members of the staff. This was done in a quiet and pleasant manner and not presented with a lot of fanfare, which I personally find embarrassing.
My only negative point would be that when first being seated, the hostess offered us a table right next to a table with small children. I was surprised to see some negative reviews as we had loved the place. So we went to check it out. Service was almost TOO good, to the annoying level. The waiter was over the top talkative, checking on our food, etc.
The one issue we had was some bad wine. The first glass smelled funny and tasted terrible. So I sent it back. The waiter said it was a "wrong pour" and brought me a new glass of what he said I ordered. The smell and taste was identical. To his credit he then bought me a glass of Pinot that was fine. But the whole episode was a bit unsettling.

Our experience was ruined however when the manager came over to correct a drink order by bringing the separate ingredients to our table and slammed them on the table and told me "here its all you now" and walked away. He did this in such a loud and embarassing fashion that the tables next to us stopped us to ask what had happened when he walked away.
All that happened was the club soda was either flat, or they used water by accident. This did not mean I wanted the manager to bring bar ingredients over to my table for me to make my own $15 drink.

We received great service and our waitress was very attentive. Our food came out quickly and was cooked perfectly. We came for brunch and everything was delicious. We ordered the french toast as well as the crab cakes benedict (a must have as it is so flavorful). We also had side orders of the mac and cheese as well as the chili lime gravy biscuits (amazing right when it comes out but wish there was a tad more gravy).
