  • "Booked a table here after screwing up my reservation elsewhere for what was to be a special birthday dinner. Not sure why it was so much easier to get a table because the food was fantastic and the space is very cool. We sat in the balcony looking down on the bar and up at the domed ceiling with its starlike design. The cocktails were delicious as well, and we loved the design of the glassware."

  • "Was really looking forward to our dining experience based on other reviews I'd read and was somewhat disappointed. The service was extremely slow...we sat for probably 15-20 minutes after being seated before a wait person took a drink order. We then waited another 15-20 for the drinks to arrive. Again, another 20 or so minutes before our order was taken...I must say I enjoy an unhurried dinner, but this was a bit extreme. The food wasn't exceptional...very nice...but nothing exciting for the $$s. The space, however, is lovely and one can enjoy a good conversation without having to shout."

  • "My wife and I came to San Francisco for our anniversary and decided to have the dinner and Jardiniere, and what a treat that was. The service was fantastic, the food amazing and the wine list and knowledge from staff was excellent. And to top it off, the chef wrote "happy anniversary" on the plate in chocolate, which was a special treat. If you like good food and wine, this is a place to go, you wont regret it"

  • "We had the tasting menu. With the exception of one offering, it was all imaginative and prepared to a high level indeed. The exception was the lamb. This dish arrived at the table at room temperature and this was not good for small cubes of lamb that were tough as well as cold. Everything else, especially the seafood and Wagyu beef dishes, were perfectly prepared. The staff was helpful and attentive without being obnoxiously in your face. This was a special birthday dinner, and well worth the expense for the experience. We left satisfied without feeling bloated."

  • "Two of us dining, seated right away for our 5:15pm pre-show reservation. Slow to be greeted by our server, and that was the theme throughout the meal. With every interaction, the lag between the next interaction would increase exponentially. Our server suggested two wines, and offered to bring me two tastes, which never arrived. We ended up ordering two more cocktails instead, but it was just awkward. We were on a timeline, so it would have been nice if our service had been better coordinated. The food never suffered. Everything we got was hot and expertly prepared. The Bonne Bouche for dessert was a treat and great for sharing. I'd go back again, but would be more clear about communication my expectations of service."

  • "I wish I could give them more stars. We enjoy fine dining and I am glad we chose Jardiniere for a special night with my dad after going to the SF Symphony. Food is exquisite. Everything was perfect, i would like to highlight the service, everyone is very attentive and made our night even more special.   • "We entertained another couple and found the restaurant very nice and the service very good. The food was good, the fresh oysters were great, my pasta with crab was delicious but the main course of halibut was nothing to write home about. We all had fish so not much else was tried. We brought our own wine and then ordered another bottle but still were charged the cockage fees. I always feel a good restaurant should waive that if you buy their wine too. Dessert was good not great. Had the chocolate specialty which I expected to be out of this world but it was just a chocolate pudding. Cheese plate was solid. The big plus was the great attentive service and the food is certainly above average. It is very pricey. We would go back for sure."

  • "Walking upstairs to our table, the smell of old juice and liquor wafted up from the bar. We were then seated for 50 minutes before our dinner order was taken. After that, our server passed our table 10 times without making eye contact with us despite the fact we had empty wine glasses. The food was unimpressive. We both had salads to start (extremely small portions and nothing to speak of), then shared a crab pasta (that was ok), I had the duck (super unremarkable for a $30+ dish) and she had the lamb (served tepid, also nothing special). There are plenty of restaurants in SF that have been around a lot longer but have been able to maintain their original standards. Jardiniere is apparently not one of them. Not a good way to spend $200."

  • "Stellar ambiance, meal selections, fine wines (even by the glass) and waitstaff that truly know their product (inside & out) with passion and confidence. We shared the TAJARIN PASTA WITH DUNGENESS CRAB, YUZU, LITTLE GEM $30 ($24 for a smaller version). Entrees were PORK STEAK WITH RHUBARB, WILD ONION AND WHEATBERRY ($28) and the DUCK BREAST, CONFIT, SALTED KUMQUAT, TURNIP AND QUINOA ($30) with sides of roasted beets with goat cheese ($9) and the duck fat potato - fries ($11). The entrees (tonight) were a little off, which is VERY rare for Jardiniere. Tuesday might have been the B team in the kitchen?! Notes: Valet parking ($15) or a parking garage located next door. Go early and have a drink in the stunning bar, prior to dining & ENJOY."

  • "I booked on Open Table a Monday Night Series spring lamb dinner at a 49$ price point and with dining. When I sat down and was shown the menu the entree was goatchatta and the price was 55$. I could have left the and should have. The goat dish was very lean and therefore dry and tough. The octopus salad was ok and the dessert was too sweet. The manager did honor the 49$ price. I was advised that the place was overpriced and pretentious and this was true."

  • "My husband brought me here for my birthday (St. Patrick's Day). As it was a Monday night, the restaurant was offering their prix fixe menu (which is truly a steal). Every course was thoughtful and delicious, and the wine pairings were truly excellent. They even offered a vegetarian entree substitute for my vegetarian husband. Our waiter was extremely attentive, informative, and friendly. This is really a special place and we won't hesitate to come back!"

  • "The meal was absolutely fantastic (I can't even begin to articulate how wonderful the flavors and presentation were--best dining food we've experienced near Davies), great wine and cocktail list, nice ambience, relatively low noise level in the dining room area of the lower floor (even though we were seated next to the curtain between the dining room and bar area), and attentive yet discreet wait staff. Although a bit above our normal price point range, we very much enjoyed it for a special occasion (celebrating two friends' birthdays as a dining out experience prior to the symphony). For a great dessert, try the bonne bouche -- a plate of wonderful small concoctions (again, as assemblage of wonderful flavors) that two of us easily shared."

Old favorites remain on the menu (often with slight but welcome changes), new items are, without exception, always excellent and sometimes an adventure. The service just could not be better. Our only regret is that we usually only go to Jardiniere when we have to be at an 8:00 pm symphony, opera, or jazz performance - we need to change that, and spend a comfortable late dinner without any other distractions."

  • "This was my second time at Jardiniere for the Monday nite special three course dinner. It is a great way to try the wine pairings which come from countries which match the theme of the meal. The Portuguese menu on Feb 24 was fabulous, with equally charming and delicious Portugese wines, and the March 3 menu for Mardi gras, with a Louisiana style was almost the match.   • "A year or more ago Jardiniere suddenly changed its entire menu. At one time we ate here >20 times a year. Love the food, the service, the ambiance, and lack of noise. However, I've never warmed up to the new menu. For one thing they took the sides off the main plate and began charging >$10 each. This is one of the most creative parts of the menu, but it seemed to me that this was just a sneaky way of substantially increasing the cost of the meal. I don't find as many interesting dishes as before. AND - they've stopped serving rolls routinely. You have to ask. That's disappointing because I've always thought that Jardiniere had the best bread in town. (My wife things its no longer as tasty as it was - Maybe because they don't serve as much.)"
