JardiniereSpecial: Jardiniere & SF SymphonyWhen my friend asked me to choose a restaurant for a memorable evening of dinner & symphony, Jardiniere was my first choice. I walk by all the time to and fro when attending my subscription performances, rarely having the occasion or funds to partake on my own. It was lovely! Our waiter knew the menu well, made suggestions based on probing or tastes, and particularly how we preferred our beef entree prepared to satisfy us. Everything was outstanding, including the Burgandy wine recommended to go with my salmon which was also prepared perfectly. The restaurant decor is gorgeous and we scored a seat on the balcony overlooking the sparking bar. Would go back and recommend to anyone for a special date or family celebration.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMNever a disappointmentPerfect, as usual. I look forward to dining at Jardiniere as much as attending the performance at the Opera House, although I go there for occasions other than before theater because it is a delightful and lovely restaurant.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMStill at the top of my listI haven't changed my opinion... been coming here for some years, and it's still on the top of my favorite places. They work the details beautifully, and make the extra effort to make an evening special.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of San Francisco's finest!A perfect meal in a gorgeous art deco setting. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. Above all else the food was absolutely delicious. I had the eggplant soup and the salmon and all at the table were delighted with their choices. Jardinere still make the best cosmo in town!6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMNever FailsAlways enjoy an evening here. So convenient to all the cultural activities and yet, quality remains high, ambiance always
lovely and very professional wait staff.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMNever FailsThere is nothing I can add to my previous comments about Jardiniere. No matter how often we dine at this elegant place, the consistent five star service and food is never lessened. It is rare that our high expectations have always been met, or exceeded (if that is possible), for all these years. Simply Brilliant!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent, Not OutstandingJardiniere provides beautifully planned food, thoughtfully served, in a lovely open setting. Everything we had was very good to excellent, but most of it was not especially memorable (though my salad of three kinds of fresh peas and poached duck egg came close, as did the panna cotta with rhubarb granita). I would say that this is exactly what you expect, and what you pay for, at a high-end restaurant. I would go back, but I might try other restaurants of similar caliber first.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, ambiance and serviceI really enjoyed my meal at Jardiniere and thought the service was also outstanding. I will be back for sure ..!6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMCan't wait to go backThere are interesting dishes; and a wide variety of dishes to satisfy about any palette.
It had been a while since we had been there. I had heard that it wasn't as good as it used to be, but I thought everything we had was outstanding. Our server was friendly, responsive & knowledgeable.
It is a tad pricey, but I feel you get what you pay for.
The bar is nice, I would recommend having either a before or after dinner drink there.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways the Best!!We've been dining at Jardiniere for years; it's always consistent; delicious, interesting dishes and superb wine list with great service!! Worth the $$$$5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding! We had an early dinner since the symphony was a 6:30 start. Our waiter was aware and attentive. The food presentation was beautiful and the flavors matched. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a perfect experience.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Prix Fixe MenuWe had reservations for 5 and our group unexpectedly grew to 10. The staff easily accommodated us and we enjoyed the Prix Fixe menu (this night featured Southern Louisiana cuisine) paired with terrific wines. The staff was fantastic. The food was incredible. A definite gem in SF.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMClassyWe celebrated our 1st anniversary recently at Jardiniere and found the food special, but approachable. It is a great choice for those who want a nice meal that celebrates the ingredients without getting in the way of whatever you might be personally celebrating. My husband already wants to go back.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best mealsThank you. This visit was just about perfect. Oh, I did wish for a slightly larger martini glass and the olives were not to my liking. The green salad was not transcendent. However, the gestalt of the experience was far greater than any of that. The flat iron steak with duck fat potatoes as a side was perfection, the bordeaux was equally perfect, as was the service. It is with eager anticipation of returning as I reflect on this experience. Sunday evening was at all not crowded. Everyone at my table shared my sense that this meal was magnificent.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMwonderful eveningThe food service and ambiance were wonderful. The waiter was extremely attentive and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend it to friends visiting San Francisco.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMTop PickYou can always count on Jardiniere for a great dining experience.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a treat! We hadn't been there for years but tried it again for a birthday dinner. Everything was superb! The potato leek soup with sorrel and smoked trout, and the papardelle with rabbit livers were fantastic. The bonne bouche to finish was perfection.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMJardiniere is a treatwhen people say enjoy the "finer things in life" I think they are including Jardiniere in that statement. Everything about that place is top notch...including the fact that for amazing food...the waitstaff is on top of it and NICE!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMA great place pre-opera, SF Jazz ..If you are looking for a place to eat before going to the Opera, Symphony, SF Jazz, ...., Jardiniere is a great choice. It is perfectly located, has valet parking that cost the same as the performing arts garage, and it continues to be one of SF's great dining experiences. We ate there recently prior to going to see the Carolina Chocolate Drops at SF Jazz (our first time there, it it was wonderful. Thank you Miner Family!). I brought wine, which they are happy to serve (the corkage policy is quite reasonable). The food was delicious.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMTasty, high quality food madeTasty, high quality food made for a great meal but not a whole lot of creativity that will excite foodies. Great experience and loved the ambiance with 2 floors and open air middle above the bar.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMService is superb!I am a foodie, so my standards are very high for foo, which is why I gave the restaurant four stars for food. The service is outstanding! The vibrant bar scene downstairs gives the restaurant a vibrant vibe, which is muted upstairs.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing meal for me. EvenAmazing meal for me. Even better for my friend that has dietary restrictions and was well taken care of. Couldn't have asked for more.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAn absolutely wonderful diningAn absolutely wonderful dining experience. Service was impeccable, drinks were banging. The menu was clear and percise. The decor of the restaurant is beautiful. Our young daughters were all hips and eyes walking through the bar/lounge area so this will be a happy hour pitstop in the future. I recommend the Spring Lamb served 3-ways. The Acquerello Risotto was creamy and cooked on point - although a bit of heavy hand on the mint. The Braised Hen Lasagna very good but don't expect your Momma's style. Deserts were to die for. A wonderful Mothers Day dinner that had us comfortably out the door in time for the Ballet.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMBest wines! We had great dinner at this restaurant! Food was very good, very helpfull staff and great wines!5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a wonderful time! WeWe had a wonderful time! We went on a Monday, a prix fixe for Seis de Mayo.....the menu was amazing, each dish delicate and flavorful....we loved every bite and the special wine pairings were perfect. We also enjoyed the evening's special cocktail, "Thyme in Jalisco" which was unbelievable. The service is impeccable, professional and warm. We always enjoy our meals at Jardiniere and this one was superb!!!! Thank you so much, we will return again and again!5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful ExperienceI have to say the whole experience was beautiful. The food and atmosphere were both beautiful, and the service was exceptional. My partner and I are moving to San Francisco this summer, and Jardiniere will definitely be on our list of restaurants to visit for a special occasion.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGood, but not greatThe oysters were not very good. The service was not amazing, we waited a while to be addressed, they brought the sides out half an hour before our mains?5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMSuper Monday Night DinnersJardiniere does a fantastic prix fixe dinner which changes each week. There is a different theme each week, and the latest we enjoyed was Seis de Mayo, yes Mexican on 6th May. Five courses with wine pairings for $49 cannot be bettered in the City. Service of course is excellent, friendly and knowledgeable.
The menus for the month are to be found on the website at the beginning of each month so you can decide where in the world your palate would like to go.
We have been several times for this Monday night meal and it never fails to impress. Try it, you can't go wrong!5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect! Our go to restaurant when headed to the Civic Center area for any performance, but worth a special trip just for the great dining experience. Hits all the right notes, excellent food, service, ambience - it's perfect!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMHad wonderful time.Staff was great & knowledable. Food was devine. Will be back someday5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent againEverything was perfect once again. The essential pre-Ballet dinner spot!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAgreable, bon, rapide, leger, cherUn repas delicieux, servi sans attendre, dans un cadre agreable, des portions une peu petites pour le prix.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat serviceNothing for vegetarians on the menu so they made a plate for us and it was delicious. Top notch service4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMJardiniere . . . What's not to loveWe just love this place for dining before walking across the street to another wonderful evening with the San Francisco Symphony at Davies. Even if you don't have a reservation, bar seating is usually available and you can have either the full or bar menu. The other thing we like is the small portions with great variety that Jardiniere always serves. Service and food presentation are excellent and the ambiance is hard to beat, especially in Hayes Valley.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a wonderful setting,Always a wonderful setting, Jardiniere has retooled its menu. The food is still outstanding and the prices are a bit more friendly. The addition of pasta to the menu offers some nice alternatives. Great wine list, outstanding service....just a very, very good restaurant.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMVery nice place! I like theVery nice place! I like the fact that te menu change every day to ensure seasonal and fresh products. Great location too - a great way to start the evening before a concert at the bill graham auditorium!! We brought a friend who doesn't eat out as much as my partner and I. He was blown away - taking pictures, talking to the wait staff and blogging about the whole experience. Traci at the top of her game!4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAn absolute winner SO closeAn absolute winner SO close to all the performances !4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner was delicious, serviceDinner was delicious, service was impeccable, sommelier was amazing. We were there for a special occasion & it was a fabulous evening.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMJardiniere is a true gem inJardiniere is a true gem in San Francisco. The service and the food are fantastic. Jardiniere should be on everyone's Must Do in SF list.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMJardiniere is a wonderfulJardiniere is a wonderful restaurant. We have been there many times and it never disappoints. We go because it is very close to the symphony, but it is worth a trip on its own. Tracy Des Jardin is a excellent chef. Her food is sophisticated without being fussy. We believe it merits a Michelin star having dined at numerous one and two-star restaurants in both the US and France. The ambiance is lovely--one always feels it is a "special" night when there. If anyone is visiting SF, we think it would make for a memorable evening.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMJardiniere hasn't lost a thingJardiniere hasn't lost a thing over time--lived up to expectations completely. Excellent, imaginative food; gracious service; and beautiful surroundings.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMBest in SFAgain, like my previous reviews for this restaurant, this place is by far the top five in SF for the time being considering some of the old school restaurants are going south.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMAfter years of drive-by ogling,After years of drive-by ogling, it was wonderful to finally dine here (and have it be wonderful)!4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat serviceWe enjoyed fantastic food and great service. I hope to visit again.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went on a Sunday nightWe went on a Sunday night at 7PM. The place was half empty which was perfect for our group which is noise challenged. I asked for a quiet corner table which I got. We also got a wonderfully cheerful and knowledgeable waitress who helped make the evening a great success. The food was tasty, plates small, presentation superb.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWe attended a matched wineWe attended a matched wine prix fixe dinner (Donkey and Goat Vineyard). There were three courses, and all were nicely matched to simple yet elegant entrees. The food was elegant and nicely presented. The ambiance at Jardiniere is always lovely. The service was a little bit spotty, but generally it was fine.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways passed by driving downAlways passed by driving down Franklin and wondered about the place. Well no need to wonder it was fantastic. I had the duck and she had wagyu beef pasta. Mine was perfect, but her pasta was to die for. Easily the best dish I've tried this year. Corkage is waived with purchase of a bottle. Will definitely go again.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMBeen coming her for yearsBeen coming her for years and has never disappointed.
