Jardenea is a freshly new, “Farm to Fork Concept,” that practices sustainable environmentally friendly techniques. Our goal is to bring a better awareness of food, health, and well-being to your life while insuring to leave the land a better place for the next generation. We strive to give the complete dining experience with not only the cuisine but our signature cocktails and our seasonally changed wine list. The Cuisine that we create is globally influenced and locally produced whenever possible. Our chefs have a deep appreciation for farm fresh products but also realize these products could come at a great cost and leave a large carbon footprint. While keeping this in the forefront we only source products from the finest farms, fisheries, foragers and artisans that believe in the same vision. The menus are changes with the season and reflect the regional flavors to maximize freshness and minimize the carbon footprint.Continued

  • "Good food with an amazing service, we had crab tian and caesor (loved the presentation on the caesor), for entrée we had Seabass and Filet, filet is very tender, tasty and well seasoned, the seabass was good but my partner didn't like the grits. Service did exceeded our expectation, it was a busy Saturday, servers and managers were on top of it. the wine list is very impressive with some great prices (Chimney Rock Cab for cheap price), anyway, we will definitely come back and spread the word. Thanks to Jose, Zsolt and the Director (I think William)"

  • "I found Jardenea on OpenTable when looking to make a reservation at Founding Farmer's in DC. OpenTable showed nearby restaurants and Jardenea sounded perfect, with a fresh, seasonal,"farm to fork" menu. We had a wonderful meal, everyone was raving over the food. The prices were reasonable for such high quality, averaging just under $30 per entree. Appetizers, desserts, drinks, and service were all excellent. They have vegetarian, gluten-free and can accommodate vegan. If you aren't looking for Jardenea, you won't know it's there... and maybe even if you are! It's located inside the Melrose Hotel, and even when walking in, there are no signs telling you where it is! I hope they pick up advertising, because they deserve incredible success."

  • "Went there with some friends and we enjoyed every moment in there, at first the location is inside Melrose hotel, there's no signs so prepare to look or ask where's the place. Service was excellent, the food took time to come out but once it did, it was actually nice and worth the wait, managers came out and checked on us few times, water always refilled and wine were terrific. The place was a bit busy, so we didn't not felt like we were rushed on anything. We liked the place and we are planning to visit in near future"

  • "We work few blocks away from the place. from reviews on Yelp and OT we decided to pay Jardenea a visit. Little odd to have a Restaurant with no signage and don't know where it's located, but when we arrived at Melrose hotel, doorman walked us to restaurant . got greeted with server who gave us menus and asked for drinks, menu is small (not use to it) but we found what we need with few suggestion from server. Food came out on time and service was perfectly executed, manager pass by and thanked us for the business (that was nice) but the four stars for the food was the soup (oily and salty not my type)."

  • "Took a chance on a recommendation and at first sight, was not clear we were there. No sign, no mention that it is within a hotel nor anywhere other than the street address. No one greeted us and after finding someone, waited for them to set up table for 15 minutes, then was unclear who was serving us. When we requested water, only half the glasses were filled, when we requested a server, different people appeared periodically and our order was not taken until well after an hour after our reservation. If we were not otherwise occupied meeting an old friend, I would have left. The only saving grace was that the food and coffee were not bad at all, but we were also starving by the time we ate. Would advise to hire and train some staff."

  • "The space is awkward; feels like they placed a restaurant in a foyer area. The lighting is soft in spots while other tables seem to be lit up with a spotlight; very bright and unromantic. Many guest asked for a new table after they were first sat. Plus there is a draft of cold air from the front hotel entrance. The food was pretty good, but not worth the price... Neither were the stomach cramps that my girlfriend and I got after eating the same prix fixe menu. The experience was okay and the service was attentive, but we won't be going back."

  • "When we read the reviews from Open Table as foodies we were excited to go for Valentine's day. When we made the reservation Open Table didn't advise us that they would have 5 course mandatory menu. The restaurant called and didn't mention that fact either. My fiancée doesn't eat shellfish and there were three dishes that had shellfish that she couldn't eat. Not to mention that the meal costs $90 per person so we felt like we didn't get our money's worth. We were excited about going but not sure we are going to return because of our experience."

  • "Food is decent, ambiance is a bit akward, tables were being set up/moved in front very loudly on Valentines Day, 8:30PM, Friday night. But the service... the service is without a doubt the worst. Server tried to clear my first course 5, I repeat 5 times before I was even close to finished. My water was empty, my bottle of champagne was not in the ice bucket that was promised to be "on the way", we ran out of butter, and he kept going for the plates. The only thing on the table that did not require his attention. This happened on every course. He then tried to sell another bottle of champagne to us while both glasses were full? I am used to and expect to receive subpar service/food on a restaurant week prix fixe, but this is Valentines Day."

Food is delicious, we had avocado crab salad and it was great, crab soup is mediocre, need a bit work on that, salmon came out on time and well presented, beef is perfectly done. We chatted with Manager, great wine list, he recommended few options and we loved the choices. We will come back."

  • "We started with mouth-watering appetizers and moved on to delectable, perfectly prepared main dishes. The pasta was al-dente and served with the perfect complement of sauce. The seafood was also superbly seasoned and prepared and the meat melted in our mouths. Each main item had the perfect sides to bring out all the flavors. I recommend this restaurant for anyone who appreciates great food, and enjoys a lovely presentation. The wine list offered a great selection for all tastes and we found a new wine that we really like from this dinner."

Jardenea popped up in the vicinity and I thought it sounded interesting. It did not disappoint. The service was prompt, attentive and pleasant . The food was excellent and everyone was pleased with their choices."

  • "First time in Jardenea for lunch, we work across the street and we never knew about it, it's a gem. Food was great on time and in a timely manner, service was great. ordered a Crab Soup (yummy) then had Tuna for entrée. water glasses were full at all time. Manager came and check on us. why the 4 starts for lunch, bcoz it's a small menu, you need more options so we can come back more often. definitely will come back"

  • "As a total foodie, I can say confidently that Jardenea is a total gem and deserves far more hype than it is getting. The farm to table concept is fantastic and the menu offers good variety without being over complicated. The managers are attentive and genuinely want to know how your dining experience is going. Jardenea is also located within one of the coolest hotels in DC - the Melrose. Expect to be treated like a VIP hotel guest even if you are just a local stopping by. Even at breakfast and lunch you can count on the food to be outstanding...and for the executive chef to be there cooking it himself (this is HUGE!). Trust me, this is a wonderful place for a date, special occasion, or just a beautiful, relaxing meal."

  • "First, the ambiance was remarkable. Very chic and modern. Jardenea is located inside the hosel on the first floor. The food was great, down from the appetizer to dessert (the mixed salad, chocolate cake and mussels are to die for). The service was amazing!!!! The manager personally came to introduce himself and took our orders. He was very friendly and ensured our time there was worthwhile."

  • "I was excited to try this restaurant and planned dinner for some close friends during restaurant week. I think restaurants should use this as an opportunity to showcase their restaurant. Jardenea offered a very limited menu and even told us that they purposely served smaller portions for anyone ordering off the restaurant week menu. They did not offer a choice in dessert which was clearly prepared far in advance (pear cake) which was exceptionally dry. The service was okay but nothing to rave about, at one point they actually started to bring dessert and realized they hadn't called cleared the dinner plates - not a huge issue but left us feeling a bit underwhelmed. Overall an okay experience but nothing worth going back for."

  • "My husband and I went to Jardenea during Restaurant Week to celebrate his birthday. I mentioned it was his birthday in my online reservation and the host and server were already aware of this when we arrived, which was nice. We ordered off the pre fixe menu. Food was great. The desert (pear cake) was not so great & we were a little bummed that there wasn't a choice for deserts. BUT since it was hubby's bday, he was given a chocolate lava cake with ice cream, SO TASTY! I'm not sure if this choice is on their regular menu but it was really good. We also got two glasses of champagne on the house! Our server was excellent! Laid back & personable. Great overall experience!"

  • "I hate to pan restaurants, but this one really deserves it. I decided to try it for Restuarant Week. Due to its awkward placement I initially had a problem finding the restaurant in the hotel. There is no signage at all. I stood at the entrance as the waiter walked back and forth ignoring me. After standing there awkwardly for a while I forced the waiter clear a table for me. When I sat down the waiter put down a couple of menus and barely looked at me again. As far as I can tell 2 waiters were serving the entire room and neither had any interest in serving anyone. Once my friend got there we waited 15 more minutes then left. I couldn't speak to the quality of the food, but unless you have an hour to spend being ignored, skip this one."

  • "A friend and I came here for restaurant week on a whim and were very happy that we did. The ambiance was lovely, quiet and well-decorated. The food was great and the service was exceptional. My steak was cooked exactly as I had requested and was very tender. The staff were very attentive and went out of their way to ensure that we were happy with our experience.   • "We attended this restaurant for the first time during DC Restaurant Week and were extremely impressed with the menu selections, quality of food and the impeccable service, particularly by Szolt, our Hungarian wait staffperson. His recommendation for the wine to complement our four menu items was spot-on (and it was nice that the restaurant was selling it for 50% less the normal price.) Cocktails were delicious, the appetizers were scrumptious and good sized portions, and the chocolate lava-style cake for dessert was delicious. The only criticism is the lack of signage for the restaurant from the street and within the hotel lobby (although this may change as the restaurant is working with the hotel property managers). Highly recommended."

  • "We decided to check on breakfast since we live close to restaurant / hotel, first we had to ask doorman for location (there's no signs). service was very impeccable, we met William (Manager) he explained concept and menu, food came out on time but i was not impressed with some of it, i ordered Crab Benedict (it wasn't as expected) presentation was ok but blend and eggs was over hard, wife ordered omelette (egg white with asparagus) very nice and well presented. i will recommend the place and will go there again"

  • "This smartly designed and decorated hotel lobby restaurant was our choice for brunch on January 1. While impressed with the décor (with the exception of the strange plexi-glass hangings that look like someone threw pasta on the wall and let it run), the service this morning was painfully slow (though cordial) and the food fairly mediocre. Not sure why I would come back unless I were staying in the hotel for the night. The bar area looks very trendy; might come back for that!"

  • "Aside from its odd placement within the hotel lobby, this was a really great experience. The food was fresh and perfectly cooked. The staff was attentive and eager to please. I had the Hawaiian Sea Bass, which was superb. I've had Chilean Sea Bass several other locations and loved it, but this was actually much better. My wife's fillet was perfectly cooked and well seasoned. Everything tasted fresh and the composition of each dish was very well thought out. I will be back again."

  • "We had dinner at Jardenea for Christmas Eve this year and it was a fantastic experience. Even if the food had been substandard (it wasn't) the experience would have rated 5 stars anyway because the service was way above par. I think for our group of 7, we nearly had a server for each of us! The food was excellent and the wine that was suggested to pair with my meal was spot on. We had a great time and if we come back to DC again, we will be sure to visit again."

  • "Food is fresh, farmed in the U.S., and prepared wonderfully. The ambiance was upscale and modern compared to most farm-to-fork restaurants. However, our waitress was not very friendly, knowledgeable, or attentive. At one point, my GF asked for a recommendation for a sweet white wine, and she suggested a Merlot. I found that odd. Later, she gave us our check and never came back to take the credit card. Anyway, the experience was saved by the maître d’ who checked in on us regularly throughout the meal, explained various food preparations techniques, etc. If our server was better, I would have given it 5 stars. Overall, I think it is worth the trip, especially given the limited options for a bite before heading to the Kennedy Center."

  • "The restaurant is being refurbished so they have set up tables in the lobby of the hotel to serve as the eating area. It was strange but not unpleasant. But not the ambience for a romantic meal. The restaurant should be reopening soon so check before you go. The food was goo & the fixed price $24.30 menu had good choices. It was good value for money. The service was good to start with but slowed down a lot between the entree & dessert courses. We had to ask the wait staff to clear our entrees and serve our desserts. Also, it took a long time to get our bill and when we asked to split the bill between 2 credit cards, after a long delay we were told that there was a problem with the machine and so they could not accomodate our request."

  • "When we arrived we discovered that the dining room was under renovation and the dining room is in the lobby next to two large screen televisions -not at all the ambience we expected. The reservation was for 5 and they did not have a table set up for 5 and we had to ask that they combine two tables to seat our party. Service was a bit slow, considering the restaurant was not very busy. Food was fresh, tasty and very nice presentation."

  • "Great spot for dinner! It's located in the Melrose Hotel Lobby- had it not been for good reviews on open table and Yelp never would have known it was there! Had an early dinner there prior to the show at the Kennedy Center. Excellent food and service, the manager stopped by a couple of times to check on us and recommended an excellent wine pairing for our meal. I'd definitely recommend it for anyone checking out a show at the Kennedy center or staying in the lab."

  • "Very interesting concept "Farm to Fork", food was great, server was on top of his game. few times Manager came out and stopped by to say "hello" and checked on food and service. we didn't realized that the Restaurant is inside the Melrose Hotel, no signage what so ever (not good), but when we called the restaurant we got transferred and spoke with William, he was so nice to go and get us, we were staying at the Fairmont"

  • "For the second time, me and my wife we go down to the Kennedy Center and we stop to have dinner at Jardenea prior our event. The service is always impeccable, good food and great atmosphere. Manager stopped by and checked, water glasses is full at all time, wine is great. The only thing that i scored 4 for food, bcoz desserts too a while to come out, and it wasn't that busy."
