All around greatness and since it was not crowded, the noise level was much better than usual.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service, the food wasGreat service, the food was delicious. Will come back soon.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMSOUNDS niceEverything was better than I expected, the food, service, and atmosphere. All though a little soft, chic music would help quiet the chatter, and create a more romantic vibe.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMBest food of it's kind inBest food of it's kind in LA. Ranks among the best of it's kind in the US. Consistently good food served by friendly and competetent waitstaff. Suzanne Tracht is well known but should be ranked among the star chefs.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was excellent especiallyThe food was excellent especially a stuffed squash blossom that was fried in a tempura batter. It is a generous appetizer with three fried blossoms attached to the baby zucchini. We had a quiet table in the corner and since we had reservations in the early evening, it was much quieter than a prior visit which was incredibly loud.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThey make you feel like familyThey make you feel like family a special place with a great vibe despite the minimal decor3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMMe and my husband had oneMe and my husband had one of our best dinners here. Service was friendly. Ambience was comforting and natural. Only the freshest ingredients are used, you can taste it with every bite. Will be attending again very soon;)3/30/2013 12:00:00 AM"Just Another Restaurant" - really?JAR provided us with a wonderful experience all around - perfect for our anniversary dinner this year! Felt like Old Hollywood tastefully mixed with Modern - both food and ambiance. re: Old Hollywood - We went for the Chef's specialty braises and both loved our choices. I had the coq a vin which was scrumptious - even though I typically don't care for dark meat. re: Modern - The salad with lobster, avocado and grapefruit as well as the baby peas with tendrils were both delightful additions to our meal. The waiter mentioned that there were several "regulars" dining that Friday night, and I thought that if we lived closer, we might become "regulars" too.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife and I dined at JarMy wife and I dined at Jar on a Wednesday night. Business was brisk, it was not the crazy rush of Saturdays. Jar delivers on the concept. It is a steak house, the menu is a modern take on the traditional model, but the staples are there to be had. The wine list is to the point and not overly priced considering the fact that the emphasis is on "big" wines. We had the special salad of the night (Pear and Humboldt Fog)perfectly balanced vinaigrette, the knife cuts were somewhat inconsistent, but regardless, it was a great appetizer. I add the dry aged Kansas steak which was perfectly executed and so was the bistro steak. The sides were simple and again perfectly executed. Dessert, although unassuming, were a pleasant surprise. Good service.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding food, cooked toOutstanding food, cooked to perfection.
