Diner Reviews
  • "I tried Japonais before a show and it was superb! I started with the ahi ceviche and then had the Le Quack Japonais duck dish. Superb! Service was first rate."

  • "I ate here 6 years ago and really enjoyed everything so I decided to bring my husband along this time. I promised him that he would love it and he was a bit skeptical because it does offer quite a lot of Japanese food. We both had the filet mignon and it was superb. It just melted in our mouths. The portion size was perfect and we didn't leave feeling stuffed, just the right amount of full. The staff was very pleasant and attentive. I would highly recommend japonais to anyone."

  • "The food was mediocre and the drinks were stiff. I ordered the rye and ginger beer specialty cocktail and it was...intense. The sushi rolls are a lot of rice and a mere morsel of fish. The ahi ceviche was nice. The atmosphere is quiet (we were there around 6) and sexy with water features and dim, red light fixtures. I recommend if you're going to a show, but not for a special trip."

  • "Service was good, food was delicious. I really liked that they accommodated my 4 year old daughter by serving her a chocolate milk even tho it wasn't on the menu"

  • "Very RUSHED since we ate at 9 and were told after awhile that they closed at 10....I was very surprised that a restaurant right next to the casino would close so early."

  • "Great food! The rock is a must. Great service, great experience. Bit pricey but worth it."

  • "This was my second time eating at Japonais. I are there 3 years ago, the last time I was in Vegas, and the experience was so memorable, I had to go again. The food is AMAZING!!! The specialty rolls do not disappoint, the ambiance is authentic and elegant, the desserts are fabulous! Try the sweet and sour calamari for an appetizer. I will go again!!!"

  • "Wonderful menu and food. Inside the Mirage. The Rock was amazing. Thin slices of beef you cook on a hot rock. Great sushi as well!"

  • "My husband and I went for our anniversary dinner, the staff was beyond friendly and helped us celebrate! The food was amazing as well and we really enjoyed the atmosphere! Will definitely being going back next time we are in town!"

  • "We had spicy tuna and shrimp tempura rolls for an appetizer and both had no taste. Dinner we had the chicken chestnut which had no taste and the tuna steak was a little bit above bland. There a lot of better restaurants at the Mirage and the at other casinos. Would not recommend dining here for the prices they charge."

  • "The Lobster Spring Roll appetizer was phenomenal, one of the best things I've ever eaten. My boyfriend and I went to a late dinner so shared 3 sushi rolls and each had 2 drinks. Everything was great! Will be back for sure!"

  • "This is always a stop for my friends and I when in LV! All around great service and food is fresh, delicious and served w amazing presentation! The true key to Japonais is that they serve you fresh grated wasabi. This is by far the best way of eating sushi!!! If you have never had this you are in for a treat! Tip: due to this wasabi not being the powder form mixed in a big batch in the morning w water, fresh wasabi you don't mix with your soy sauce as it is a solid now. The proper way is to first put a little in your mouth to acquaint yourself with once you know how much you will have per bite but directly on on sushi/sashimi or on chopsticks when grabbing, dip in soy sauce then enjoy this new way of sushi!"

  • "Nice restaurant though most restaurants on the strip are nice. Menu is small. They don't actually offer a gluten free menu they just say if it is gluten free or not. Online menu and options seem different from actual menu. Food is nicely presented, taste is nothing extraordinary. We went mainly for convenience."

  • "We were celebrating our Anniversary and seeing a show at the Mirage thought this would be a good place for dinner. We were Very Wrong, the food was served luke warm with dinner plates and the server was so distant nobody cared. We did complain & they offered a "free dessert"- hardly worth it."

  • "Everything was going swimmingly. Only four occupied tables in the restaurant. The appetizers and sushi were delicious. Then....six tables were occupied....and our waiter vanished. Water was not refilled. No one came over to check on us. I had to ask about my main course - "Le Quack" (duck); it took way, way too long to materialize. Once received, it was horrible. Tough, fatty, heavy-handed with the sauce. Maybe I caught it on a bad night. Anyway, the failure in service and the bad entree made it a "middling" experience at best. If a restaurant wants to charge "high-end" prices, then it must offer "high-end" service. I can't recommend the restaurant, but wouldn't fault anyone for giving it a shot."

  • "The food was very good and the service is great. There were no exceptions, neither positive nor negative. It is fine and pricy place to eat if you like Asian food."

  • "We really enjoyed the food and beverages. The service was also great."

  • "Granted, it is pricy, but worth every penny. Sushi was fantastic and for all you sake lovers, give the whole list a shot. You will not be disappointed. If you love Japanese food, this is the place for you."

  • "Went to Japonais after seeing LOVE and had a nice dinner. We did have reservations but the restaurant was not full (Saturday night- 8:45). Our server was very good and the food tasty. We had sushi and a hot chicken dish. Signature cocktails were inventive and good as well. We would return. "

  • "I dont now what happened to this restaurant i used to love it but now the food it's not good any more the Le Quack was terrible! And the rest was just "good" "

  • "Food was good, products of nice quality however it seemed the waiters were in a hurry to get us fed and going asap.. Prices normal for Las Vegas"
    Dined on 5/1/2014
  • "THIS is service, what you would expect in a fine Las Vegas restaurant. Our waitress was a doll and could not do enough for us. It is the little things like the warm hand towels at the beginning of service, hot water with lemon offered when she knew we were cold. . Ordered were the shrimp tempura with veg (WELL DONE!) and the crab cakes (DIVINE! Best I have ever had). My friend ordered a $16 pear martini drink which she said was OK but I am not sure she would get it again. These wonderful men I saw in the open kitchen are not line cooks... these are chefs and each plate is made with precision. Masters of their craft. If you have friends, clients, family that you want to impress and they like Japanese food, this is a great choice!"

  • "Made reservation month ahead, was told that main dinner room is not open. Four of us had to each dinner in the lounge. Very disappointed. No apology nor explanation given. Had to deal with noise and cigarette smell from the casino. Very sad.....food was good."

  • "One of the best meals we had in Las Vegas. The Sea Bass was outstanding. The waitress was fantastic. She hurried our order so that we could make our show and made great suggestions. Will definitely eat here again, the next time we are in Las Vegas."

  • "OMG! The sushi was amazing. I think the tuna/nigiri was named something like oturo -- it was like butter! Best I ever had. The yellowtail/hamachi was so fresh and wonderful. The shrimp tempura roll and the snow crab/avocado rolls were superb!"
    Dined on 4/17/2014
  • "We went in a group on 10 people. Service was horrible. It took 25 mins to get wine and food order was all over the place. At all courses waiter would forget someone's food. I think restaurant is past it's prime."

  • "Can be a little pricey but the food is always wonderful, always love the rock and the calamari. Had the dry aged steak this time and it was quite tasty, see you next time!"
