Diner Reviews
  • "We went in a group on 10 people. Service was horrible. It took 25 mins to get wine and food order was all over the place. At all courses waiter would forget someone's food. I think restaurant is past it's prime."

  • "Can be a little pricey but the food is always wonderful, always love the rock and the calamari. Had the dry aged steak this time and it was quite tasty, see you next time!"

  • "We spent 5 nights in Vegas celebrating our 50th anniversary and we ate somewhere special each evening. Out of those 5 dining experiences, Japonais was our favorite! The service and extra effort to recognize our anniversary was truly exceptional."

  • "Great quality of food! Impaccable service. Good quality price ratio. It deserves a stop if you are in Las Vegas and look for something different than American, French and Italian food."

  • "In the middle of a busy casino this Japanese infusion Is a pleasently quiet restaurant, good for meetings or just A romantic dinner...was great!"

  • "Great alternative to your traditional asian cuisine. Everything was wonderful up until the entrees arrived. Small portions and overcooked. Just wasn't as good as previous visits. Hope it was just an off night. Still would recommend. Service was awesome."

  • "Although the food was pricey the service was very good. Background music was loud which made it difficult to carry on a conversation."

  • "I was visiting Vegas for a convention and was able to take one night away for a private dinner with my husband. We enjoyed the fabulous service and private setting of the inner dining area. We had several appetizers and then shared a meal. Everything about the evening was outstanding"

  • "I made a reservation because we had Love tickets at the Mirage anyway. Toro Tartare was supposed to be spicy but was almost flavorless. A few seafood robata items were excellent. Service was OK but a bit inconsistent, with a gimmicky iPad wine list that was unnecessarily frustrating to use. At 7pm it was half empty which is not a good sign in Vegas on spring break. Since my wife and I have had far superior Japanese in Houston where we live, we politely skipped out after appetizers and eventually ended up at Lake Side at the Wynn for an excellent dinner."

  • "This restaurant is absolutely fantastic. It is located inside The Mirage. We have been there twice, and ordered different things each time. Everything we ate was delicious. The hot rock steak appetizer is my personal favorite. My husband said the apple pie dessert was the best he had ever had (I stole a bite and it was amazing!). I have tried the seasonal cocktails, and they were superb. The service is very attentive. We will definitely be returning!"

  • "This was a Valentine's Day dinner for my wife.. It was very cozy and quiet. I had a sea weed encrusted salmon dish. Excellent!!! Excellent quality fish. Just a hint of outside crispness, served hot and perfectly cooked. Service was excellent. My wife is looking forward to our next trip to Las Vegas. We will return to Japonais"

  • "we sat in the dinning room - perfect location for privacy and quiet but close enough to people watch into the casino. we've been here before and came back for some of our favorite foods. the best part was our waiter who was nice and patient enough to teach us the world of sake."

  • "This was a special birthday dinner. Really liked menu items with Asian/Japanese flavors different than what we have had before. Presentation and service first rate. Would absolutely return."

  • "I come to Japonais every time we are in Las Vegas just to have The Rock wish the bar area would stay open later, closing at 10 pm on a Thursday is to early. The only reason I gave it a 4 star is for the early closing time. It's such a nice place to sit and have a drink but would not like to hear last call at 10 pm."

  • "I took some customers here for dinner before a show, and it was a wonderful dinner. The sushi platter that we ordered was one of the best I have ever been served. The Kobi steak was cooked perfectly, the sauce used on the ribs was great, and the other meals were just as perfect. Everyone was very happy with the meal and the service was perfect!"

  • "A+ across the board. Our waiter was wonderful, very helpful, made any and all changes we needed. Very friendly as well. Food was unreal. We had "the Rock", which was great, and Le Quack (duck dish) was fantastic as well. Wife loved her sushi. Our best meal in Vegas this trip by a mile. Menu is extensive with lots of little things you can get. I can't rec this place enough."

  • "Worst Las Vegas food experience I have ever had. When I asked the server why the food was taking so long, he told me that it takes 50 minutes to get salmon sushi because they had to send out for food. I asked to talk to manager who agreed with me that service was deplorable and the waiter lied to me. Manager told me they were going out of business soon."

  • "Good food. Small sushi portions very good but disappointed only 6 pieces with the shrimp tempura. The entrees however had an abundance of food. My guest and I left half our portions untouched. Overall vet delicious and creative in the food pairings."

  • "The sushi good, not great and was way over priced. The service was slow and average, at best. It was not terrible, but when I pay this much, I expect more. If you want great sushi on the strip, try Sushi Samba at the shoppes at the Venetian."

  • "The food was just ok, not the best restaurant we have been to in Vegas. After reading reviews that this was voted one of the best restaurants we were a bit disappointed."

  • "The Japonais was simply outstanding in all regards!! The food and sevice were exceptional."

  • "While the food was good, it was quite expensive for what you got. Sushi was really fresh and I enjoyed it. The saki pairing was excellent as well. The big letdown was the service. I don't mind paying more for a meal if the service is up to the task. The worst was when our waitress brought our wine and began to open the bottle. We noticed it was not the wine we ordered and were immediately challenged by our waitress that we were wrong. We had ordered a white and she brought a red, pretty sure we didn't screw that up. It then took close to 45 minutes to get our correct wine."

  • "We came with a group of 7 on a last-minute OpenTable reservation and had a very good experience overall. The menu comes from three separate kitchens and we ordered some from each. The Japanese Ribs were great. Only slight downside was they cooked a filer mignon ordered Medium Rare to Medium, and gave a bit of hassle in sending it back but not bad. Overall very good."

  • "My boyfriend and I made reservations for our six year anniversary I couldn't have been more oleased with choosing japonais. We ordered the smoked kobe, shrimp and vegetable tempura, and the ahi tuna steak. We both have never had sake either and our excellent server suggested such a great one for us to try. Seriously the food was phenominal even though my tuna steak took forever to get there. I was also very pleased that they realized that it took a long time and we were given a free drink split between the two of us and free dessert as well. Even with the confusion in the kitchen, the experience was amazing. I just wish I knew my servers name because she seriously was the best!!"

  • "This Japanese restaurant serves only tp quality products. Sachimi is outstanding. Service not to American standards, but then there are no American persons in service. Very appealing atmosphere for quiet dining."

  • "The food is delicious and the service perfect. What made this a nice choice for our dinner was the ambience. Unlike many casino restaurants, the noise level was minimal. We were able to have meaningful conversations among 7 people -- and really enjoy the experience. The menu had good options that would appeal to Asian food lovers and those that wanted something more traditional."

  • "The food at Japonais was very good, I ordered a Tuna steak and it came out perfectly seared and it melted in my mouth - delicious. The rolls are small and pricey. The service was good, a bit slow at times, but the restaurant was busy."
