The bar will be set up by the accompanied staff members; our team of experienced sushi chefs will serve fresh scrumptious sushi on the Mobile Sushi Bar where sushi will go around and around. Beautifully displayed sushi will add a touch of class to your event. Your guests will not only be satisfied by the look and taste of the food, but will be stunned by the whole spectacle.

  • "Simply the best tasting Japanese food I've had in Edmonton. Attentive service with a relaxed atmosphere; soft jazz and modern lighting does sound like it would be out of place but did make for a pleasant dining experience. A changing variety of fresh fish allows the sushi and sashimi connoisseur to have different taste experiences again and again. There are plenty of other options for those wanting variety or something other than seafood. Two of the best features are on the lunch menu; one, a special to create your own bento box. Second is my personal favourite, omakase, where the selection of food is left to the chefs and one is guaranteed to have a variety of deliciousness. Don't foget to leave room for the matcha creme brulée dessert!"

  • "The restaurant is very busy that the servers seemed overwhelmed and didn't pay any attention to the tables (ie, clearing dishes, offering beverages, asking how the food was).... My suggestion is to hire more staff (someone who buses tables ect). Food was great surprisingly for Edmonton. Restaurant is well designed. Service staff is nice...but they are slow and not professional or attentive simply because they are busy. For the prices they charge, I would expect better table service. I definately would go back. SIDE NOTE PARKING IS BRUTAL!"

  • "Aside from the typical sushi and tempura, Japonais Bistro offers dishes that are different than traditional Japanese restaurants in Edmonton. Some of these include tuna nachos, beef on hot stone, tuna tortillas. The price is more compared to other Japanese restaurans and they tend to portray a more upscale experience. I do find that the food takes a long time to arrive."

  • "I do think this restaurant could use some extra servers/bussers but being short staffed did not effect us on a Saturday night as we had prompt and friendly service. The food was fresh and very tasty. Well worth a visit but do not forget to make reservations on the weekends as we watch at least 4 parties be turned away within an hour."

  • "My girlfriend and I eat here at least twice per month, probably more like 5-6 times. Just can't get enough! Yam tempura, and a beer to start, and then followed up by 3 rolls, usually Golden Crunch, Halo, and TNT. We usually leave for just under $70. And if we skip the beer, it's pretty close to $50. The first bites always make me want to close my eyes and just enjoy, and when we're done, I'm always completely satisfied, and don't feel like I'm going to leave the restaurant fatter than when I came in. Service is always excellent, quick, and if you sit at the sushi bar, you can expect a freebie here and there! There are large tables for groups."

  • "My husband and I tried this restaurant based on reading some positive reviews. We were not disappointed. Excellent and unique Japanese food, with very fresh ingredients. Tuna sashimi was melt in your mouth fresh. The menu was full of very interesting items and unique sushi maki rolls. The chili mango shrimp appetizer was delicious. We will definitely be back to try more of the diverse menu on offer."

  • "I tried the Chef's freshest fish selection of sushi, sashimi, and maki. It's still the freshest fish I've had in Edmonton. You will be very full after this. The saki sampler was also a good idea because it didn't fill me up. The salmon is from Canada, the tuna from around the world and the rest from Japan. The only thing that could make it perfect would be if there was a low salt option soy sauce. Otherwise terrific food!"

  • "As with other reviewers, the service was terrible. We were seated a full 30min late. They kept apologizing for the wait but weren't willing to compensate us with anything. Not even a round if drinks which would've helped. The person apologizing claimed he didn't know where the manager was when asjed - in fact he said the manager wasn't there! Service was slow if at best once seated. Automatic gratuity was added - which sadly I guess explains the poor service in this case. Our drinks came out inconsistently with one person waiting 20 min for hers. Bill time, our server claimed we were $15 short! Def not! He wouldn't justify it and wasn't until we asked again to speak with the manager did he come back and say it was all good. Never again"

The included maki and sushi are not bland like in many other places. The spring roll dessert was also excellent. This is another restaurant that doesn't add too much salt or sugar."

  • "I dined with 3 others and ordered grilled squid, sushi tortilla, vegetable tempura, deluxe sashimi, volcano roll, mango fry, ikura sushi and green tea/red bean mochi. The sashimi was FRESH. The sushi tortilla was an unique dish with crispy honey tortilla served with salmon/tuna sashimi, tomato, red onion, avocado and arugula. The vegetable tempura arrived hot. The squid was grilled perfectly. The seaweed was crispy with my ikura sushi. Overall the quality of the food and the service was excellent."

  • "I eat a lot of sushi. I love it. When I first looked at the menu, I went right to that section, but we decided to try a few different things and asked the server what her favourites were. The Prairie fire was great, and the mango one (can't remember name) was even better. I'd order two of those next time. The yellowtail appetizer was mediocre - would have been better raw and thinner. A warning for anyone who loves (or is afraid of ) jalapeños. They are on a few of the dishes but they lack any kick at all. They actaully have very little taste to them. So if you love a little spice you will be disappointed or if you worried about something being too hot with jalapeños they are not. Service was extremely good. I'd go back for sure."

  • "We tried the $20 Omakase (ie. "up to the chef) for lunch and it was incredibly delicious and an outstanding value! It gave the chefs a chance to showcase a few different items on the menu and next time I think I will request for some more off-menu type items to let them be really creative. The Omakase came out as a juiced up version of a bento box (the comparison is in the most complimentary way possible). Items included chicken karaage - ask for ginger dipping sauce, tuna tataki, seafood ceviche, 3 pieces of sashimi, miso soup, 2 raw oysters, HALF of a charbroiled yellow tail and rice. Presentation was very nice and great flavors through all the dishes. Highly recommend doing the lunch Omakase...call ahead so they can prepare for you."
